Peeta's POV

"Are you sure?" I ask Katniss and she sends me a glare."Of course you're sure." I take that moment to call out for her mother.

"Mrs. Everdeen!" I yell. She hurries down the stairs when she sees Katniss, you can see her go to that place she pushes herself to whenever she has a patient.

"Okay let's get her upstairs and get her comfortable," she says walking over to us and helping me walk Katniss up to our bedroom."Get her into a nightgown Peeta, I'll get the bed ready for her." As I help Katniss out of her clothes and into a nightgown she keeps staring at me with a look of fear written clearly in her eyes.

"I'm so scared Peeta!" she cries. I look over to her mother who is finishing up on clearing the bed off and placing clean sheets on it. When she sees the situation I'm in she walks over and takes her daughters hand.

"You'll be just fine darling. The important thing right now is to stay calm because an increases heart rate and blood pressure is not going to do you or the baby any good right now. Just let me and Peeta get you into bed and try to make you as comfortable as we can," she says and helps me ease Katniss over to bed and lay her down carefully."Get her back propped up on those pillows," she orders and I gently ease the pillows behind her back so she's sitting up against the headboard. Mrs. Everdeen looks at Katniss' lower region a looks back up at us.

"She's only about two centemeters," she says.

"What's that mean?" I ask.

"That means that she got quite a few uncomfortable hours ahead of her," she replies and the panic is apparent on Katniss' face.

"Hours?!" she cries.

"Yes, hours. You'll be fine. You couldn't have a better guy sitting next to you right now. And he's gonna keep you nice and comfortable while I go get everything ready," she says standing up and leaving. Katniss cringes and squeezes my hand so hard I'm afraid she'll break it as she rides out what I can only guess is another contraction. She cried and I feel my heart tear in two.

"Shhh," I say trying to calm her down but I obviously only piss her off.

"Don't you dare shhh me! You will never know what I'm going through!" she yells at me.

"Calm down," I say but instantly regret it, because it releases the wrath of my pregnant wife.

"Calm down? You want me to calm down! I'm going to have to push a baby the size of a watermelon out of me in the next few hours! I would not tell me to calm down if you want to live to see this baby!" she says and taking her advice I just rub her back as she crushes my hand in hers, stay silent. When she comes out of it she looks over at me.

"I'm sorry, I know your trying to help but it's not helping right now. I don't mean anything I'm saying," she says, breathing hard.

"I know. I expected worse," I admit seeing as I thought she would have chewed me out way more than she has so far.

"Peeta, your going to get called every name in the book by the time this is over," she says and I laugh.

"I don't doubt it," I say, kissing her cheek.

"Can we talk about something?" she asks.

"Like what?" I ask.

"I don't know. Anything," she says.

"Do you know what you want to name her?" I ask.

"If its a girl?" she asks. Not wanting to fight her on this, since I do think it is a girl, I nod.

"I don't know. I think we will just have to see what she's like. We can't really name her before we see her. Although if its a girl, I have a middle name picked out," she says.

"And what would that be?" I ask her.

"If we have a daughter, I want her middle name to be Dandelion," she says.

"Why?" I ask.

"Because your my dandelion in the spring, the one who brightens up my life. And if she's anything like her father, she'll brighten up my life too. I want her to carry part of you with her wherever she goes," she says.

"Really?" I ask.

"Of course," she replies as if there is nothing more to say about it. Her mother comes back in and checks her again and starts to walk back out. I kiss Katniss' cheek and follow her.

"Why didn't you say anything?" I ask Mrs. Everdeen.

"Because I didn't want to have to tell her how slowly she's moving along. Its not gonna make her happy," she replies.

"Why?" I ask.

"Lets just say that that baby will defiantly not be born before the sun goes down. So if I were you, I go in there and try to take her mind off everything. The next hours are not going to be at all pleasant for her," she says.

"That's easier said than done," I tell her. She laughs.

"Trust me I know. Knowing her, when she's pushing, she'll call both of us every name in the book," she says walking down the stairs. I hear Katniss yell for me through the door and sighing I go back into the room and accept my fate.

**********Eight hours and so many cuss words I could write a book with them, Mrs Everdeen says Katniss is ready to push. I feel her trembling as her mother positions her so she can push the baby out.

"Okay Katniss, you ready?" her mother asks. Katniss takes a deep breath and nods."Okay then when you feel the contraction, you need to push as hard as you can." Katniss' hand crushes my already bruised one and she cries out as she tries to push out our baby. When she stops, she's breathing really hard.

"Okay, I think we'll get the head on the next one," her mother encourages. "When you feel the contraction again, do exactly what you just did and we'll have your baby within about four more pushes." Katniss looks at me and grabs the collar of my shirt, pulling me down to her level.

"If you want another one of these, you're not going to get it for a long, long time," she growls and I try not to laugh at her. All of a sudden, she lets me go and squeezes my hand again as she pushes.

"Your doing great, sweetie," her mom encourages."You just have to get the shoulders out, and I might be able to slide it out the rest of the way." Katniss nods and looks over at me.

"You ready?" she asks.

"If you are," I say.

"I think I am," she says.

"Okay Katniss, give it all you got and this will be the one," her mother says and I watch as Katniss pushes as hard as she can but turn away when I hear the cries. Katniss hears them too because she opens her eyes and cries when she looks at her mother. Because those weren't just any child's cries.

Those were our daughters cries. Katniss looks at me and smiles.

"Who wants to hold her first?" Katniss' mother asks. Katniss keeps looking at me.

"I carried her for nine months. It's your turn," she says.

"You mean it?" I ask. She nods and Mrs Everdeen gently sets my little girl in my arms. She cries loudly and I can't help the smile that places itself on my face or the tears that run down my cheeks.

"She's perfect Katniss. She's absolutely perfect!" I sit down next to her and she reaches out to her. I gently slide our daughter into Katniss' arms. She smiles down at the little girl in her arms and kisses her forehead.

"Oh, if I'd only known what I would be feeling right now, I wouldn't have been so scared. I didn't know that it would feel so perfect to be holding her in my arms," she says. She gently cradles our daughter's head that's covered in a soft down of dark hair. She opens her eyes and they are the same blue I see in the mirror each morning. Katniss looks at me and kisses me passionately and when she pulls away she smiles at me.

"I love you," she whispers.

"I love you too," I say and kiss her cheek as we both beam down at our little daughter, never feeling more perfect.----------------------------------Omg! My first book is over.
