CHAPTER 4: Dobe and Teme
02:00, 31 August 2023A/N: Hello! I am back with another chapter! Finally, they've met 😮💨 Anyways I'll let you all enjoy the story first...
Naruto couldn't look away from the sight in front of him. He had originally wanted to teach the boy with duckbutt hair a lesson. However, when the said boy turned around to face him, Naruto's body went numb because, in front of him stood a boy with black mid-length hair that looked even glossier under the light. The bangs falling over his face made his pale skin look even paler, drawing more attention to it. He had a perfectly cut face, but his eyes... They were black, not like coal, but like obsidian gems had been placed in those sockets. Naruto had never seen such distracting eyes before.
Naruto forgot his motive for approaching the raven as he felt his eyes go wide while staring into those ebony eyes. He didn't want to break this moment, and neither did the raven try to look away.
'Sai...'
Naruto could see how similar Sai and the boy in front of him were. He reminded Naruto of Sai and how they had similar features, but Naruto couldn't help but admit that the male in front of him was more beautiful than Sai. He was the epitome of what people would call ethereal.
"Oi..."
Naruto was brought back to reality by a rich, low voice that belonged to the boy whose shoulder Naruto had grabbed. Naruto blinked twice before looking away for a moment. He turned to the raven in front of him, still holding onto his shoulder. He cleared his throat and furrowed his eyebrows before speaking.
"Say, why are you being so mean to a girl? You made her cry! How could you talk to her like that in public? Be a little considerate, dattebayo!"
"Dont jump to conclusions, dobe."
The younger boy replied, staring at him with a deadpan face. His voice was so cold that it made Naruto flinch inside, though he remained calm on the outside.
'Did he just call me a dobe?!'
Naruto realized what he had just been called, and all his plans of handling the matter maturely went down the drain.
"Don't call me dobe, teme!"
Naruto spat at him, and his grip shifted from his shoulders to his collar. Naruto heard the raven let out a light scoff before he yanked his collar out of Naruto's strong grip. Naruto watched as the boy left, and he could swear that he heard the pale-skinned man mutter "usuratonkachi" under his breath before walking away.
Naruto was now very irritated. He had never been someone who could tolerate insults hurled at him, especially after rebuilding his pride and reputation during high school. Plus, this boy was supposed to be his kōhai. He was supposed to know about Naruto and his famous troupe. They were the famous troublemakers of Konoha High. Above all, how could he address his senpai with such insulting names?! Naruto felt a nerve strike in his head. He popped his knuckles before yelling at the raven who was continuously walking away.
"Oi, pretty boy! You wanna fight?"
The "pretty boy" stopped in his tracks for a second, then, without sparing Naruto a glance, resumed walking. Naruto was about to chase after him when he heard a familiar voice call out to him from behind.
"Naruto?!"
He turned around to see Kiba standing still in the middle, acting as a divider for the passing crowd. Naruto shot him a flashy smile as he hurriedly walked over to Kiba. He began playfully choking Kiba with his arm wrapped around his neck while fiddling with his hair.
"Ha! Kiba! How have you been, you dog breath? I bet you got no friends in your class now. You always used to hang out with us dattebayo."
Naruto said before slowly letting go of Kiba, both panting slightly. A lot of other people were now heading towards the field, and many of them recognized him as they passed by. They all bowed to Naruto, acknowledging him as their alumni. Naruto gave them a slight nod in return before turning his attention back to Kiba.
"Ha! You thought I was a loner without you guys?"
Kiba smirked and continued.
"Well...to be honest, I am. I've got a few people who would talk to me, though. Heh..."
Kiba's voice trailed off towards the end. He began scratching the back of his head, and his cheeks were now a shade of red. He was a little embarrassed to admit that he was indeed a loner who had been left behind, but he didn't mind because he had constantly been in touch with Naruto and the others. That was one of the reasons why Kiba sounded pretty shocked when he saw Naruto standing in the hall.
"What are you doing here anyway?"
Kiba questioned as Naruto updated him on everything he hadn't already told Kiba while proceeding towards the field so as not to be late for Gai sensei's class.
*TIME SKIP*
"Most of you already know him, but for those of you who don't, this youthful man right here is Uzumaki Naruto, your senior who graduated from this school. He has joined us as an assistant coach and will be helping you all harness your youthful spirit while I train the other teams! Let your youth explode!"
Gai introduced Naruto and then disappeared from his spot.
'He sure does run fast,'
Naruto thought as he saw Gai sensei almost fly out of their view. He turned towards his juniors, now his students. He spread his legs a little and stood in front of them with his hands crossed across his chest, wearing a confident smile on his face. He was glowing under the sun, and his stance spoke of complete dominance. He didn't even have to make any effort to establish his authority. Everyone knew who the boss was.
However, there was a certain raven who had been eyeing him for a long time. He couldn't help but admire the blond who had become the center of attention and had gained respect from those who didn't know him before today, all by just standing and smiling there. The raven had to admit that the blond was perfect, with no flaws whatsoever.
Naruto had no clue about the set of ebony eyes that were admiring him from some corner. He was busy answering questions about himself that his new students were asking.
"Excuse me! How should we address you? Sensei or Senpai?"
A random girl's voice was heard from the crowd. Naruto chuckled sheepishly before answering.
"You can just call me Naruto, dattebayo."
Naruto had girls indirectly flirting with him; among them, there was a pinkette who was the most eye-catching one. He also had a few guys who had come up to him to ask about the secret behind his buffed-up biceps, which were very much noticeable as he had removed his jacket before coming to the field. At a diatance, he could see Kiba boasting about their friendship to the new students who weren't a part of the school when Naruto's group had been at its peak. He had always been a magnet for warmth and love. And this time, he had managed to win the hearts of everyone without fail once again.
Or so he thought, before he noticed that among the group, which was listening to Kiba's rants, stood a boy with the most nonchalant face one could make. He recognized that boy from the hallway. Naruto could very well notice that he was uninterested in Kiba's talks, but his eyes were speaking something else. They told Naruto that it was all an act he was putting up. He was actually invested in the talk but was just acting aloof.
'Hmph! What a hypocrite...I bet he thinks he's the center of the universe. Well, he has got the looks, but his personality sucks. I just know it!'
Naruto was contemplating the boy in question when he noticed a pair of black eyes looking at him. Their eyes met, and in an instant, the raven turned his head away and walked away from the group.
'What the hell is up with his attitude'
Naruto thought with a slight frown. After about 10 minutes of a question-and-answer session, he ordered his students to run 100 laps, just as Gai sensei would have made them do. He could hear disappointed sighs coming from the herd of kids before they began running their laps. He began observing everyone and soon noticed that there was no duckbutt hair in sight.
'Where is he?'
Naruto jogged up to Kiba, who was on his 10th round, inquiring about the beautiful boy.
"Hey! Do you know that pretty boy who always seems to be annoyed? He has black hair. They stick up unusually from behind."
Naruto tried his best to explain to Kiba. He was even using hand gestures to indicate the type of hair he was talking about.
"You mean Sasuke?"
Kiba laughed at Naruto's way of describing Sasuke.
"Yes, I know him. He is a friend of mine. Not friend friends but like, we do talk sometimes and have lunch together... maybe once a month? Why? Did that bastard do something?"
"No, I just noticed that he is not here."
"Oh... I have no clue where he is. He doesn't usually skip lessons."
"Hmm...well, I'll go look for him. Help keep an eye on the others."
"Okay!!"
With that, Kiba ran off as Naruto slowly came to a halt. He then turned around and began walking in the direction in which he saw Sasuke escape earlier.
The periphery of the field was densely packed with trees. One could even mistake it for a forest. Naruto searched in the "forest" for a while before he caught a glimpse of a pair of black Adidas shoes behind the trunk of a huge banyan tree. He walked over to the trunk of the tree and took a slight peek at the owner of those shoes.
