Class Begins

Wednesday's POV

I naturally wake up earlier than Enid. Class begins at 8am and I'm up by 6am. I make my way to the bathroom to change into my uniform and to braid my hair. I make sure that Enid is asleep before I undo my hair. No one will ever see me with my hair down.

I brush my teeth and proceed to do my hair. I have perfected my braids to the point I get them done in 10 minutes. Enid barely wakes up to her alarms so I typically have to wake her. She has a metal death trap for a reason. Just proves my point that those things are useless.

I go to my desk and I start reading a book for my english class. This book doesn't get introduced for another month but I prefer to be ahead.

Some time goes by before I hear Enid's annoying alarm go off. I look over at her shutting it off but not getting up. I don't understand why she does that. As I'm still looking in Enid's direction lost in my thought I hear Enid speak.

"Watching me sleep Addams?" Enid says with a laugh

I turn back around and don't respond. I feel my face get a little warm. They should really invest in better air circulation. I hear Enid get out of bed and go towards the bathroom. I stay seated at my desk reading when she comes back out 20 minutes later. I'm surprised she woke up with the first alarm that went off.

"What class do you have first?" Enid asks

"Ancient World History." I say

"Me too!" Enid squeals

"Why must you be so loud Sinclair." I say

"Because I have class with my roomie!" She says with a wide smile

"Can I see your schedule?" I ask

"Sure." She says handing me her paper schedule.

I look at it and we have almost every class together. The only one we don't have together is our 4th class of the day. I have Psychology and she has Interior Design.

"Pretty good schedule right?" Enid says excitedly

"We have every class together except our 4th class" I say staring at her

"OMG! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS??" She says excitedly.

"What?" I say in my monotone voice.

"We get to walk to class, TOGETHER!" She says as she jumps up in excitement.

"I suppose we can walk together." I say with a softer stare.

"Speaking of, we should probably head to our first class." Enid says.

I get up from my desk and opened the door for us. Enid is walking pretty close to me but I pay no attention to it. I'm more focused on everyone else. They're all giving me smiles. I don't know why everyone is so happy to see me. I'm clearly not happy being here. The last time I even felt a spark of joy was when I pushed Pugsley down the stairs over break.

"EARTH TO WEDNESDAY" I hear Enid say loudly.

"Speak that loudly to me again in such close proximity, I can't guarantee the safety of your stuffed animals." I say

"I was just trying to tell you that we made it to class. You were about to keep walking." Enid says with a laugh

"Oh." I say as I walked into the classroom.

I went to the back table of the room and Enid followed me. The tables fit 2 people at each one. I notice Enid's vampire friend sit at the table next to us.

"Look at the two besties." Yoko says with a smirk.

"I won't hesitate to put garlic in your lunch Dracula." I say glaring at the vampire.

"Weds be nice to my friends." Enid says

"Dracula, I will not put garlic in your food....today." I say

Enid's POV

"She literally listens to everything you tell her to do." Yoko says quietly.

"No she does not." I say whispering back.

"Wanna bet?" Yoko says

"Actually yeah" I say

"Hey Wednesday, can I borrow a pencil?" Yoko asks Wednesday

"Not my problem you forgot the most important thing." Wednesday says without looking up from her notebook

"Your turn." Yoko whispers to me.

"Weds, can you get me a tissue from the teacher's desk?" I ask using my puppy eyes

"Do your legs not work?" She asks me

"They do but I don't feel like getting up." I say

"Fine." Wednesday says as she gets up.

"Told you!" Yoko says while she playfully hits me in the arm.

Wednesday saw Yoko do that and I could tell that made Wednesday slightly mad.

"Don't hurt her Dracula."  Wednesday says with a death glare

"It did not hurt her." Yoko says rolling her eyes.

"Welcome to Ancient World History! My name is Mr. Blake." The teacher says trying to get the class to settle down.

The teacher begins the lesson but I'm not really paying attention. I'm doodling in my journal. I look over at Wednesday and I admire how pretty her handwriting is. It's so pretty. I focus on her and I notice she clenches her jaw when she's really focused.

"Pay attention Sinclair." Wednesday whispers to me

The remainder of the class I do just that. She had a pretty serious tone behind what she said.

First class down, 7 more to go.

Time Skip-End of the school day.

Enid's POV

Wednesday and I walk back to our dorm together. I'm so happy that we have all of our classes together. Makes me feel slightly safer and if I ever get confused on the homework she could help me!

Once we got back into our dorm, I put my bag down on the ground next to my bed. I changed out of my school uniform and put sweatpants on with a crop top shirt. Wednesday went into the bathroom to change so I decided to quickly change. That girl takes very little time in the bathroom.

I hear my phone ringing and it's Yoko.

"Hey Yoko!" I say

"Um Xavier is in the infirmary with a black eye and a bloody nose. Did Wednesday do something to him?"

"I'm not Wednesday's keeper, but I can ask." I say

"Okay talk to you later."

"See ya."

Wednesday hitting Xavier wouldn't really surprise me honestly. I sit on my bed and wait for Wednesday to come out of the bathroom. A few minutes later she finally does.

"Did you punch Xavier Wednesday?" I ask

"Yeah." She says staring at me.

"Uh why?" I ask

"He called you a dumb dog so I simply punched him for saying something dumb" She says

"Wednesday, just because someone says something bad about me doesn't mean you hurt them." I say smiling.

"Yes it does." She says as she walks to her desk.

"I appreciate you standing up for me." I say

"I just wanted him to stop talking." She says.

I pick up my phone to send Yoko an update text. She's convinced that Wednesday likes me more than a friend with how protective she is of me.  best friends are protective over one another so I think Yoko is full of shit.

I scroll through TikTok while Wednesday spends the next hour typing away on her typewriter. I wonder what she writes about.

"Do you wanna watch a movie?" I ask

"Will it be horror?" She asks turning around to look at me

"You know I don't like horror." I respond

"Then no." She says

"Please Weds!" I ask

"Fine but we're watching it on my bed." She says as she gets up from her desk and walks over to her bed.

Wednesday's POV

I sit up on my bed and scoot over so there's room for Enid. She grabs her laptop and sits down next to me. She makes sure she doesn't touch me since she respects my boundaries.

"We can watch Finding Nemo!" Enid says

"Okay." I say

I've never seen this movie so I hope it's not a waste of time. Halfway through the movie Enid falls asleep on my shoulder. Great.

I don't bother waking her up because she becomes grumpy when she gets woken up so I just let her sleep.

The movie ends and shes still asleep. Its now 9pm. I gently move her laptop to the floor and I lay down. Enid tiredly gets comfortable in my bed. If this was anyone else they would be dead by now.

I get myself comfortable and I also fall asleep pretty quickly. Tomorrow is another day in hell.
