Poisoning

04:07, 5 August 2024

"Solace." Dracos finger brushed between my eyes as if he was trying to coax me awake, my eyes fluttered until they closed again. "You have to wake up."

"No." I whined and rolled on top of him.

Draco lifted the blanket so my wings could move to a comfortable position. "We have to get ready for breakfast and then classes."

"I don't care."

Draco rubbed my back. "We have to get up."

"You should have thought of that before you stayed late with that cabinet."

Draco kissed my forehead. "I already let you sleep in."

"Your mistake." I mumbled tiredly.

Draco brushed my hair out of my face. "Did you want to skip classes today?" I nodded and wrapped my arms around his waist as much as I could. "Alright... But we should go to breakfast."

I huffed tiredly. "You go get it."

Draco chuckled under his breath. "Alright, you have to roll back off me." He lifted the blankets, I tucked in my wings and rolled off him. "I'll go get your dessert."

"Mm." I snuggled with the pillow.

Blanketa were tucked and mattress stilled. Footsteps. Dresser drawers opened and closed. Footsteps. Bathroom door closed, then opened. Footsteps. Bedroom door opened, then closed. Silence. . . .

A yawn escaped my lips, my eyes fluttered open then closed and I pulled the pillow closer to cuddle with it more.

I squinted my eyes open and looked at the clock on my nightstand. (11?)

I sat up slightly to look around the room. (Didn't Draco say he was going to get breakfast?)

"Draco?" I looked to the bathroom door, I looked back to the clock. (It's 11. Breakfast is long over.)

I sat up the rest of the way and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. "Draco. I swear to god if you are with that cabinet."

I stood up, grabbed my blindfold and put it on as I walked to the dresser. Chose to were the normal gray sweater and shirt Hogwarts uniform since Draco and I chose to skip classes... At least I think we did.

After my bathroom hygiene was completed I walked out of the room, down the stairs and into the common room. No one was there.

As soon as I got out of the common room I opened my wings and started to fly to the seventh floor where I was going to beat a boys ass.

The corridors were empty, it was silent.Everyone was in class learning.

I landed on the seventh floor corridor and walked the rest of the way to the entrance of the Room of Requirement.

When I entered I took off into the air and flew to the cabinet.... Draco wasn't there. (Did he go to class?... What are we playing, hide and seek?)

I turned around and walked back out of the room, then flew down to our class.(Hopefully Snapes in a good mood.)

.I landed at the DADA classroom door and peaked in and to Draco and my normal table. (Where is he?)

Snape stopped teaching when he saw me and walked over with a scowl on his face. (Shit.)

I backed away, he walked out and shut the door behind him. "Miss Solace." He said sternly.

I smiled. "I promise we aren't skipping." Snapes demeanor was dark, I frowned. "Did I do something?"

Snape raised a brow. "Last night another student was almost killed." My face fell. "Poison, Miss Solace... This is getting far to reckless." He scolded.

"I... Where's Draco?"

Snape lowered his head to look at me intimidatingly. "I haven't seen him yet. I was hoping you would be responsible enough to keep him at least in sight."

I frowned. "I wanted to sleep in. He said he was going to get breakfast then come back." I looked away from Snapes glare. "I need to find him." I looked back. "I'm sorry. I have to go." I turned away and opened my wings.

"Miss Solace." I stumbled back to the ground after a stopped take off. "Would you like to know, who was poised?"

I looked back at him. "Oh. Sure."

Snapes glare softened. "Ronald Weasley."

"What?"(His plan failed and he harmed another student. But not just any student but one of my friends.)

"He is in the infirmary with his sister and your friends."

I opened my wings and flew away without another word. (Ron... Why did it have to be Ron.)

I flew to the infirmary, landed at the door. I opened it and walked in.

Ginny was on one side of Ron's cot and Mione on the other, the only other person was Harry who was sitting on the next cot over.

The sound of the door closing caught their attention, Harry stood up. "What are you doing here?" I frowned.

"Harry." Hermione scolded.

Harry looked at Hermione than back at me. "You knew. Didn't you?... The bottle, it was poisoned. Malfoy poisoned it."

Ginny stood up. "Harry. Stop." Harry looked at Ginny and backed down.

I looked at Hermione, she looked away and at Ron. "I just wanted to see if he's alright." I put my hands in my skirt pocket so I wouldn't fiddle.

"Harry gave him a bezoar in time." Ginny told me.

"Who's side are you on Liv?" Harry said sternly.

I huffed. "It's always you Harry." He frowned, Mione and Ginny watched us. "You think the world is black and white, good and evil but it's not! Everybody has good and bad forces working with them, against them, and within them." They all frowned at me. "The choices we make are a constant battle between our will, our desires, and our options. Don't you get that?"

Harry stopped glaring, Hermione stood up. "Liv."

"No." I told her and looked at Harry. "You are spoiled Harry, not with money but with support. You wouldn't be alive if not for Hermione yet I've never heard you say thank you. I've supported you every year but when I said something you didn't like you turned your back." I backed towards the door. "If I were to pick you or Draco it would be Draco. Because he knows the value of a true friend, you don't."

I opened the door and walked out. (What a waste of words. Harry will probably complain and say I'm the bad guy.)

I stopped walking and looked down the corridors to figure out where Draco would be if not in class or in the room. (He probably feels terrible.... Usually he goes to the Astronomy tower when he needs to think....)

I flew out of the castle and around to the Astronomy tower where I found Draco, leaning on the rail and staring off into nothing. (Draco was just starting to get better, he didn't seem so stressed but now....)

When he saw me he straightened and backed away as if I was... The friend of the student he almost killed, and the person he cares about.

I flew to the opening, Draco was backed all the way to the center of the room. "Solace." His eyes teared up.

I walked to him, he backed up. "Draco." I flew and captured him in my arms. "You didn't do it on purpose."

Draco was tense in my hold so I let go and looked up at him. "Why do you do this?" My brows furrowed, Draco stepped back out of my grasp. "Everything I do, no matter how wrong you always seem to forgive me as if I did nothing." He said like he was trying to make me hate him.

(Hating someone makes them important. Forgiving them makes them obsolete. Everyone will hurt you, forgiving them releases you.)

My face relaxed. "Forgiveness does not relieve someone of responsibility for what they have done. It doesn't erase accountability. It's not turning a blind eye or even turning the other cheek." I stepped forward and gently grabbed his hand, he looked down at the action. "When one forgives, two souls are set free.... I'm not angry with you, I'm mad that once again the plan hurt an innocent person... A plan I knew about and am also a part of."

Draco's eyes softened. "This is why I don't want you being involved."

"I'm involved anyways. Unless you think I have a shot at escaping my situation." Draco frowned. "If you can't run then evolve. If you can't fight then befriend." I smiled softly. "I still have the mindset of my childhood."

"You shouldn't have to." Draco moved me into a hug, I hugged him back. "You should be happy with all your friends like you were."

I sighed. "I will. Just not now. Not when he is still out there."

"... You really think he will be destroyed?"

I stared off. "He has to. I'll make sure."
