Dont Make it Awkward

04:07, 5 August 2024

We walked and climbed up the seven flights of steps until we reached the seventh floor. Then we walked to the wall across from the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy to the wall that was the entrance to the Room of Requirements.

"Alright." I put my hands on my hips. "To open the room you have to think of what you need." I smiled.

Draco raised a brow. "That's it?" I nodded, Draco looked at the wall. "Alright." He walked to the wall and turned to me. "This isn't a trick right?"

"Not a trick."

Draco looked back to the wall then in front of him and closed his eyes. A door started to appear and his face and body relaxed with the relief.

I walked over to him. "See? No trick."

Draco walked to the door and pushed it open. "Bloody hell."

The room was filled like a hoarders home, a maze made from piles of items. "Damn." I walked to Draco's side. "I got this."

"What?" Draco said as I flew up into the room.

"Let's see." I glided through the room while searching for the triangle shaped tall cabinet. "Damn. You might not be able to run but you can definitely hide."

I continued to fly around until I saw a tall item with a triangle top that had a blanket draped over it. I flew down to it and stuck my landing better then before and walked to the mystery item.

(Are you Draco's cabinet?) I lifted the blanket and saw the same item from Draco's memories. (You are his cabinet.)

I flew straight up and looked around for Draco like a lighthouse, I saw him walking around close to where I was. "Draco!"

Draco looked around until he saw me. "You can't just leave like that!"

"It was faster!" Draco walked around the piles until he came around the corner to me, I lowered to the ground. "You're welcome."

Draco huffed. "I could have done it."

"Unless you got a broom to search you would have been here for a month just looking."

"I would have found it in no time." He pulled off the blanket, dust flew into the air.

"Sure." I eyed the cabinet. "... You really want to bring Death Eaters here?" Draco's fingers moved over the carvings of the cabinet. "What if they go after the students?"

"They won't." His fingers brushed the handle and opened the door.

"You don't know that." I walked over to him and placed a hand on his arm. "Draco."

"This is my task, Solace."

I retracted my hand. "Alright.... Why not start tomorrow? We should get some sleep."

Draco closed the door. "Fine... Come on." He walked towards the exit.

I followed. "Draco?" He hummed a response. "You are changing. I've never seen you like this before..."

"I'm not a boy anymore." He put his hands in his pockets. "I've grown up."

I frowned. "You're only a teenager."

Draco huffed. "You don't understand. I was chosen, I am not a child." He scowled. I stopped talking, knowing this was going to lead to another argument with a friend. "Solace.." He said softly.

"Yea?"

"I didn't mean to-."

"It's fine."

"Solace." Draco gently took my wrist to stop me. "You're right... I just... It's my job, my responsibility, not yours."

"You don't always need to be alone, I'm here for you to the end." I smiled softly. "Unless you act like Malfoy then I'll give you space."

Draco looked deep into my eyes then blinked away. "You don't have to be here for me." He started to walk again.

"And you never did." He stopped and looked at me. "Don't forget I accidentally saw your whole life of memories. I know what you've done for me without me knowing."

Dracos demeanor grew uncomfortable. "Have... Have you seen everything?"

I walked to him. "I can see everything you yourself can recall. That's it." Draco looked away. "The past is the past though. As you said, you've grown and matured." I shrugged and continued walking.

"Solace?" I slowed to a stop and looked behind me to him, Draco stared at me.

I turned fully. "I have the blindfold on so I can't read you."

"I know..." Draco put his hands in his pockets. "Do you know?" He asked with a strong voice to hide his worry.

I raised a brow. "Very broad questio-."

"Solace." Draco said seriously, I sobered up and nodded, he looked away. "You don't have feelings for me, do you?"

(I... I can't.)"Do you think now is really the time?... The whole world is falling apart around us both."

Draco scoffed. "That's what I was thinking." He walked passed me towards the door. "I just didn't want you to expect anything from me."

"Right." I took a deep breath and followed him. "Draco?"

"What?"

"It's not that I'm saying no to you." Draco slowed down. "I just... I dont know. You're important to me and... We finally have a stable relationship- I don't even know why you would like me. The only other person who asked was Cedric and... I've never had someone care in that way- barely had anyone care about me in my life and-."

Draco appeared in front of me after I walked without watching where I was going. "It's fine." He smiled slightly. "You don't have to explain."

I nodded. "You're close to me Draco, very close... I just don't know how I feel about you in that way. It's uncharted territory."

Draco opened the door for me. "Solace." I looked at him. "You don't have to explain."

I nodded and walked out of the room, Draco followed and shut it. "Did I just ruin this?"

"No." Draco said sadly.

We walked down the hall. "Alright... I'm sorry."

"Stop, Solace." Draco sighed. "It's fine."

We walked down the steps, Draco opened the Slytherin common room and we walked in. "I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked.

Draco nodded with a frown. "Yea." He went to his room.

(Damn it. I just made this whole thing uncomfortable now... Why did I do that? I mean I don't exactly know how to tell if I like someone... But... This is Draco, why would I like him that way? He's not bad but... I dont know.)

I walked up the female side and to my room but the door didn't open. (What the hell?)

I looked at the name plate to make sure it was my room but it wasn't, Pansy had a new roommate. (Where's my room?)

I walked back to the beginning of the hall and looked at each plaque on the doors what said who roomed there.

I started to worry as I came to a close of the shared rooms until the next door down had my name on it....

(Why?... This is a single bedroom.) I twisted the knob and it actually opened.

I walked into the room. A one bed, living room, desk, bathroom, and closet room. (What the hell?)

I walked to my trunk and picked up the box and note that sat atop.

Do not make me regret giving this back to you.- Snape

"No explanation on why I changed rooms?" I huffed and opened the box, the mirror Sirius gave me was inside, I sighed. "I..."

(I don't need this.)
