Wingardium Leviosa
04:07, 5 August 2024Two Month After Start Of Classes
"After all this time we finally get to use our wands." Hermione basically skipped with glee as we headed to class.
Todays the day we finally use the levitation spell we have talked about for a weeks, of course Mione and I have practiced this in secret multiple times.
I smiled at Miones excitement. "Do you think that since we are taught the spell we can use it freely?"
Mione rolled her eyes. "Of course, after today I'm sure they will allow us to use it as we please."
I smiled. "Good because I'm tired of realizing there is no toilet paper in the stall after the fact." Mione chuckled. "I'm serious! For some reason I forget to look before I use the girls stall and then I have to go to the stall over."
Mione shook her head. "Want to study together during study period? I don't have the group study today."
I smiled. "Yea. Do you want to do it outside since it isn't cold like yesterday?"
Mione nodded. "But not on the ground, its wet from the melted snow. I don't want to get my books messy." We walked into the classroom and took a seat in the bottom row near the front. "I am sure we will get high scores by the end of the year so you have nothing to worry about, Liv."
I smiled and sat down. "Thanks Mione." I looked ahead. "Well if it isn't Draco Malfoy." I smiled. "On time today?"
"Mudblood." He groaned. "See you are always early. Is that a muggle thing or are you just that way?" He eyed both of us.
"I'm just that way." I took out my paper and pens and turned to Mione. "Do you even think we will need notes today?" She shrugged and took hers out anyway. "Yes I assume?" I smiled.
She lifted her chin. "You can never be to prepared." She smiled proudly.
Some people would hate Hermiones confident behavior but I find it refreshing. She is also always truthful which I respect and would take any day over liars. Even if her truths hurt I would never shut her up about them no matter how mean they are..The class filled and the Professor walked down the path between desks and climbed to the top of books since he is a dwarf.
"Alright class." We all readied ourselves, I could fill the excitement bouncing off Hermione. "Today we will be using our wands so if you would please take them out and simply place them in the desks until I tell you to use them."
We all reached in our pockets and pulled out our wands, placing them on the desk in front of us. "Mione call down before you give yourself a heart attack." I whispered. I could see her bottled up emotions just waiting to spring out.
"One of a wizards most rudimentary skills is levitation... or the ability to make objects fly. Do you have your feathers?" Hermione held hers up to show she did, the Professor nodded. "Good. Now, don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practicing. The swish and flick. Everyone."
We all picked up our wands. "Swish and flick." The whole class said and did the movement like we were children.
"Good. Oh and enunciate. Wingardium Leviosa. Off you go then." The class started to use their wands.
As I was about to try but I saw something waving around crazy in the corner of my eye. "No, stop, stop." I looked over to see Mione stopping Ron's wild antics. "You're going to poke someone's eye out." I smiled. "Besides, you're saying it wrong. It's Leviosa, not Leviosar." Mione corrected Ron.
"You do it then if your so cleaver." Ron said annoyed. "Go on, go on."
Mione turned to her feather confidently. "Wingardium Leviosa." Hermione swish and flicked, her feather started to fly up into the sky.
The Professor smiled. "Oh! Well done! See here everyone, Miss Grangers done it!" Ron rolled his eyes as laid his chin in his books. "Splendid!"
Mione smiled at the positive feedback and turned to me. "Come on. We didn't- practice- for nothing." She whispered practice like we robbed a bank.
I smiled and raised my wand. "*Wingardium Leviosa." At the same time a huge blast came from down the row, I flinched and stilled like a statue as my heart raced.
"Its Seamus again." She's looked at me. "What's wrong?"
I shook my head. "I'm fine." I put myself back under protection of my past demeanor I seemed to have left behind in the past months.
Bang of the front door. I waited for the footsteps to know if I must ready myself for a fight or keep myself on my toes until they go to sleep.
Bang of my locked bedroom door. I held my head high and invited the beating the next day as long as I got that one night, that sliver of peace.
Glass breaking around me. I yelled back at them every second I could between objects flying out with their words. Never backing down and always hiding my weakness because I am not weak.
The Professor nodded. "Someone get Mr. Finnigan a new feather."
"You're letting him try again?" I snarled, Mione gave me a look.
"Yes." I raised a brow. "If you have a problem with my choices you can leave Miss Kimberly." Professor Flitwick said kindly with a little annoyance.
I eyed him, itching to leave, begging myself to stand up and leave before another explosion. "Gladly." I picked up my books and left the classroom and down the hall, going nowhere in particular.
(I can't believe I cowered at an explosion, my brain couldn't even process what the noice was. It was only a moment of weakness I won't show again. After all this time I've been to easy going as if nothing could ever hurt me again yet a small explosion sent my brain off the rails.)
"Fuck!" I growled at myself.
"Language!" A low voice I know came from a classroom I passed.
"Back off!" I yelled back to him as I passed, mentally face palming.
"Miss Kimberly!" I stopped and sighed. "Come back here!"
I turned and walked to Professor Snape who is in an empty classroom, thankfully, writing at his podium. "Yes?" I calmed down.
He raised a brow. "Where do you think you are going during your class period?" He put down his quill.
"What does it look like I am doing?" I said annoyed.
Snape slowly stood up. "Skipping class, obviously."
(Just let me go. I don't need anyone.)"Congratulations, Captain Obvious." I turned around and headed back.
"Wait..." I turned around, Snape walked closer with his hands behind his back. "As the Head of Slytherin you are my responsibility. Unfortunately that means I have to know where you are going during all time in which you are... emotionally vulnerable."
"Unfortunately." I scoffed and nodded. "Because obviously you could care less about me and my emotional vulnerability?" I spat, he deadpan stared at me. "You don't have to pretend you care because of ethics." I crossed my arms. "Its not like I'll preform some wizard suicide with my. What did you call it? Emotional vulnerability. But maybe you would like that." I spat. "Would you like that Snape? Do you wish I was gone?"
(Chill out! He's not the enemy here! You have no enemies here! Stop being so defensive and pessimistic!)
He raised a brow and held out his hand. "Wand." My face fell, I looked at his hand. "Wand, Miss Kimberly." I took out my wand and placed it into his grasp. His fist closed around it and placed it in his robe.
I looked back and glared. "I might be unstable but I will never become weak enough to hurt myself (again), Snape." I growled, turned around, and walking out of the classroom.
(That's my wand! The one thing... The only thing-)
"Mudblood!" I looked up at Draco walking down to me. "What pathetic excuse do you have for leaving class?"
"Go away, Malfoy."
"What the hell happened?" I ignored him, he stepped in front of me "What happened, Mudblood?"
"Move or I will move you." Draco raised a brow, I sighed and continued straight. "I don't like sudden things."
Draco scoffed. "Pathetic." I glared, he smirked. "Are you alright? Going to have a breakdown or something?"
I rolled my eyes. "I'm fine, Princess. I want to break Finnigan's wand though." I scowled. "I can't believe Professor still gave him another after that."
"He blew it up again."
"Of course he did." I looked up at the hallways where students were heading to dinner. "You should go eat. I'm not that hungry."
"Starvation instead of mental breakdowns then?" Draco nudged his head towards the students. "Come on, depressed creature. You aren't starving yourself."
"What does it matter to you?" I scoffed. "And I'm not depressed and some muggles do things worse than starve themselves."
Draco looked back at me. "Like what?"
I frowned. "Nothing." Draco rolled his eyes and looked back to the front.
