Classes
04:07, 5 August 2024(Last night was a dream, a hallucination and when I open my eyes, I will see my old room.)
That's what I told myself... Didn't work though because when I opened my eyes... I was in the room I fell asleep in last night. And today starts the day I attend a school for witchcraft and wizardry.
I sat up in the bed and rubbed my eyes, a girl I recognize was walking about the room, making herself at home. "Hey, Pansy."
She stopped and looked at me. "Hi." She said unenthusiastically and continued to gather her belongings. "I cant believe I have to board with you." She huffed.
"I wont caused problems if you don't." I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom with my -Hermione's- uniform and bathroom essentials. "You never know. We could be... friends."
(Friends... I hope this school lasts long in my life.)
"Why?" She said walking to the bathroom where I was brushing my teeth. "Why would you want to be friends with me?"
I shrugged, spit out the toothpaste and rinsed my mouth. "Because I have no friends in Slytherin and we also room together."
(Maybe this was a mistake. Who would want to be friends with me?)
"Fine..." She went back to her organizing, I closed the door to finish my tasks.
"Well shit." I took a nice warm shower, extra since it has been days, brushed my hair, put it up in a ponytail then put on the borrowed uniform. When I was fully ready for the day I walked back into the room, piled the school books in my arms. "I'll see you later." She gave me a bye nod, then left for the great hall.
Part of me was glad I was Slytherin because it seemed like the house that best suited my crazy behavior, plus Snape's personality was comforting. But Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all in Gryffindor. I guess I can make new friends in Slytherin but... the trio was- is- are, my first friends here.
And I never come by friends easy, not when my housing would switch suddenly and all the friends I made would go down the drain.
But here, here I can make friends and stay friends as long as I stay here. Just have to keep my grades and behavior up so I can get supplies.
.When I got to the dining hall it was loud, tables and seats full, chatting echoing - filling the hallways. My eyes switched from the Slytherin table to my friends, more like Hermione, until I decided to screw the split in students and talk to Hermione.
I wanted to see if I shared any classes with her, if I am going to pass this with flying colors I need to be sure I am trying the hardest I can and Hermione seemed to be very knowledgeable on the train. I am surprised she isn't Ravenclaw but I guess her confidence does show with how she carries herself.
Everyone seemed to watch me walk to the wrong table, I didn't care, their loss for being houseist, if that is even a word.
"Hermione." She turned to me and I sat down side saddle on the bench. "Hi Harry, Hi Ron." They smiled slightly and nodded, I furrowed my brows.
Hermione smiled. "Hey, how are you? Don't mind the boys they are just being rude. Have you gotten your schedule yet?" She pulled out her timetable. "I cant wait to start classes, I stayed up late to read ahead."
She showed me her schedule. "We have almost identical class times." I smiled slightly.
She smiled. "Probably because we are both first years."
I handed her paper back. "I was wondering... You seem really smart and I have to get high scores at the end of the year so can we like... Be study partners?"
Her eyes widened and a smile spread. "Yes! I would love to be your study partner. I've always wanted one but everyone doesn't seems to like studying as much as me." I smiled, a true smile. "Do you want to walk to classes together? What do you have next?"
I chuckled. "Transfiguration and I would love to walk to classes with you." Her smile brightened. "Did you want to start heading there so we aren't late. I don't know the castle well."
She packaged her books up. "I studied the map of Hogwarts but I would love to show you around this place is truly magical." She stood up then frowned. "Have you eaten?"
I frowned and looked at the food. "I don't..." I grabbed an roll. "This is fine but I don't eat much." I stood up, Hermione still frowned, I sighed. "I need time to get use to so much food alright?"
Not blind to my home situation. I knew what I was going through both mentally and physically. I new I was being treated like a waste of space... Why do you think I ran when I received a letter saying I was excepted to a school of magic... I was desperate.
Hermione forced a smile "I'm here if you want to talk." She turned to the boys who were chatting and filling their mouths. "Don't be late to class."
Harry smiled and nodded, Ron rolled his eyes. "We wont." Ron groaned then went back to talking and eating with Harry.
Hermione turned back to me. "Ready?" I nodded and we walked to the doors. "This is going to be such fun. How did you get books?"
"Headmaster put me on a scholarship of sorts. At the end of the year if I have top scores and good behavior he will supply the school list the next year."
Hermione smiled. "He's very generous... May I ask about your home.." She said soft and reserved.
"It's not a home." I scoffed, her smile dropped from her lips and eyes. "I'm a foster child." She nodded, I continued. "I was left as a baby at a fire station. And I've been in foster care ever since and I guess you know how that is by... You saw in the train." She nodded sadly. "Um... I saw the letter and just... left when it was time. I walked to the station which took a couple days and here I am now."
Hemione smiled softly. "And now we are friends... Something I sorely need so thank you." She continued in her normal confident voice. "My mom was worried I wouldn't find any so when she hears I made one she wont be as nervous about me being here alone."
I looked at her arm. "I'm... I'm glad I made a friend as well." I hooked my arm with hers, she smiled. "I never had friends because I don't stay for long."
"Well with you being stuck with me we will be the best of friends." I chuckled softly, she smiled. "The classroom should be... down... there." She led us over to double doors and pushed them open. "This is McGonagall's classroom for Transfigurations, she is the Head of Gryffindor as well."
I nodded. "What's transfigurations?"
Hermione lead us to seats close to the front. "Transforming items." I nodded.
We sat down. "You need a wand for that?" Hermione nodded. "I'm getting my wand after classes today." I looked around. "Where's Professor McGonagall? Should I tell her?" The doors opened and that stern woman walked in, I turned to Hermione. "I'm going to talk to the professor." She nodded, I stood up and walked to the front. "Excuse me Professor."
She turned around. "What can I help you with Miss Kimberly?"
"I don't know if Headmaster Dumbledore has spoken with you but I'm not getting my wand till after classes today."
She smiled slightly. "I am aware and am glad to tell you that today we will only be going over introductions to Transfigurations in our books. Wands wont be needed for a while, Miss Kimberly."
I nodded. "Thank god I brought pens then." She smiled and nodded and I went to sit back down with Hermione. "She said we are only going over book work today." I took out my book, notepad, and pens.
Hermione smiled. "I read that last night, it was very informative." She looked down at my supplies. "You brought muggle items." She smiled at the familiar items.
"Yea, I was given quills and parchment notebooks but... This makes it feel more realistic..."
Hermione smiled. "I get it."
"Well if it isn't, Mudblood." My jaw clenched and I turned to look at Draco. "Did you bring a little piece of home?"
I faked a smile. "Yes, these are called pens and a notepad. You can use it an see how they work." I handed a pen to Draco.
He looked at it with disgusted. "I don't want to use your filthy muggle items."
I raised a brow. "You don't want to or you don't know how to?" He glared at me, I stood up. "Here." I grabbed his hand.
"What are you doing?" I wrote 'Pureblood Slytherin Princess' on his hand in small writing. "What's that for?" He scowled.
I lifted my had to the pen. "I'm showing you how it works. If you don't like it you can just wash it off." I wrote 'Mudblood Snake' on my hand. "See?" I showed him, his brows raised, I handed the pen to him. "Would you like to use it?"
He eyed me like I was crazy. "What are you playing at?"
"Nothing. I just want to show you my world." I shrugged, he raised a brow. "Just try it out, its satisfying to use." He looked at the pen and took it. "You can keep it." I turned and went back to Hermione.
"Are you friends with him?" She whispered.
I shook my head. "I need good behavior at end of the year and if I get on his bad side then I'm toast. My attitude doesn't have a filter when you get me really mad." Hermione smiled and shook her head.
"Alright class. Take your seats and open your books to the first chapter. You will write notes and at the end there will be a short understanding quiz." She turned into a cat and sat on her desk.
Hermione and my eyes widened, I leaned over to her. "Hey Mione?" I whispered.
"Yea?"
"Did I just see...?"
"Yes."
I nodded and opened my book. "Alright then." We began reading and taking notes.
