Lacey stood in front of her closet, unsure of what to wear. She didn’t really feel like trying to make herself look good. After all what was the sense in that? Matty probably wouldn’t even cast her a second glance after what had happened between them that morning. Sighing she pulled out her high-waisted black jeans, a simple white t-shirt and a comfortable red flannel shirt, she had stolen from her brother back when she had lived at home.

“You’re not seriously going to wear that are you?” Ella looked at her in shock.

Rolling her eyes, Lacey stripped out of her sweatpants and put on her black jeans, “Be happy that I’m going with you at all. I could just as well stay home and leave you to yourself.”

“Ugh, fine.” She rolled her eyes, then whined a bit more, “I’ll look so overdressed next to you though. At least exchange the flannel for a leather jacket or something?”

“No.” Lacey said simply, then looked over at what her best friend was wearing. She looked stunning as always, in her dark red skater dress that showed just enough cleavage. Her hair was lying on her shoulder in a lazy braid, with strands sticking out every here and there. It looked careless, as if she had just woken up like that, but of course Lacey knew that Ella had spent about an hour getting ready and working on that hairstyle, “You look incredible, not overdressed at all…” She smiled and quickly changed the topic, “Plus you have someone to make a good impression on. What’s up with you and George anyways?”

Ella blushed and turned away, muttering, “Nothing.”

Lacey was so surprised at her reaction, she couldn’t contain a laugh, “What’s up with you El?! I’ve never seen you act so shy when talking about a guy.”

“Well you’ve never seen me with someone like George.” She replied a bit snappy.

Lacey raised her eyebrows, “Someone like George?”

Her friend finally turned to her and sighed, “Yeah someone like George. Someone who is incredibly hot, yet incredibly lovingly at the same time. Someone who doesn’t just reduce me to my looks, but actually wants to get to know the real me. Someone who-“

“Someone you actually like.” Lacey finished for her, smiling, “I’m happy for you El.”

“Well there’s nothing to be happy for yet, we’re not dating or anything.” Ella sighed, then smirked at her, “Which is why we have to go to that concert venue now and change that.”

With that, she grabbed Lacey by the hand and pulled her outside with her, not listening to her protests about how she still had to pack her handbag.

“You’ve got your phone, that’s all you’ll need”, was all she had to say as they made their way outside and to the venue.

“What the fuck is she doing here?” Matty exclaimed right when Ella and her walked in.

She rolled her eyes, already having enough off of his attitude, “Nice greeting, Matthew.” She watched him cringe at her use of his full name, “I’m not here to see you anyways, I’m here to hang out with Ella while George is performing.”

Clearing her throat at the mentioning of her name, Ella stepped forward and offered Matty her hand, “I’m Ella. I know we met each other briefly this morning, but you didn’t really pay much attention to me, so might as well just introduce myself again.”

“Ella, right right I remember. George’s girl of the night.” He smirked as he shook her hand.

“What kind of bullshit is this one telling everyone?” George rolled his eyes grinning as he walked in. “It’s lovely to see you again.” He smiled as he leaned in and kissed Ella’s forehead, which caused both Matty and Lacey to let out an exasperated ‘ugh’.

Unable to contain a grin at their synchronized sighing, Lacey stole a glance at him to see that he himself was struggling not to laugh.

“Oh look, the two who ‘hate’ each other, have a common dislike for public affection.” George grinned, “Think we can leave both of them alone, now that we know they at least have one thing to talk about and won’t just sit here wanting to strangle each other?”

Knowing that Ella would say no, because she had promised to stay with Lacey at all costs when Matty was around, she laughed sarcastically while her friend replied “I think so” at the very same time.

Lacey stared at her with shock written all over her face, “What the fuck, El?! You promised you wouldn’t leave me alone with him, it will be so awkward!” She exclaimed, but her friend just continued walking away from her laughing, “Well if you keep yelling about how you don’t want to be with him, it will be awkward. Now suck it up, we’re leaving.”

Lacey watched them walk away from her before she slowly turned to look at Matty, who was only smirking at her, “What?!” She crossed her arms in front of her to at least somehow shield herself from his stare.

Matty just shook his head as he lit up a cigarette, “How was your meeting this morning?” He asked as he exhaled the smoke.

Sighing she let her arms drop as she leaned back against the wall, “Not productive at all.”

“Oh?” He raised his eyebrows questioningly, a slight grin resting on his lips.

“Honest truth?” She sighed as she pushed herself off of the wall and walked over to the edge of the stage which he was sitting on.

He watched her every step as he replied, “Have I ever wanted anything else?”

Hoisting herself up to sit next to him, she simply stared at the wall in front of her as she admitted, “I couldn’t stop thinking about how stupid our whole fight was this morning. I couldn’t even concentrate on a single word he said.”

Matty laughed at her nervousness, “Is that your way of apologizing to me?”

“Only if you actually caring about what happened at that meeting is your way of apologizing to me.” Lacey raised her eyebrows at him, smiling slightly.

“Fine.” He laughed, then put his arm around her to pull her closer to him, “You’re fucking crazy, Lace.”

She felt her heart beat a bit faster at the mentioning of his very own nickname for her, then looked up at him, “Well that’s certainly something I have never heard about me before.”

“Well have those people slept under the stars and agreed to finish your little bucketlist with you?” He challenged and when she shook her head laughing, grinned satisfied, “Thought so.”

“So…” Lacey said, wanting to change the subject, “tell me more of that little band of yours that I’m forced to listen to later.”

“Forced to listen to?” He laughed, then shook his head slightly still smiling, “Well we’re called The 1975. The band consists out of George, me, Ross and Adam, who were those two other guys at the bar yesterday. I don’t really know what genre we would fit in, people say we fit into that whole indie pop, indie rock scene.” He shrugged, seemingly unconvinced.

“And how famous are you guys? Do you already have groupies and the sort?” She winked, knowing they couldn’t be that famous yet otherwise she would have surely had heard of them.

“Actually love…” Matty smirked amused at her obvious sarcasm, “We’re quite famous. I’m sure if you had come in through the main entrance you would have already seen a line of girls waiting to get in.”

Not believing him, Lacey rolled her eyes, “No way, you’re fucking with me.”

Raising an eyebrow in a challenging matter, Matty jumped down from the stage and took her hand to make her jump down as well, “You don’t believe me?” He laughed, “Come on, I’ll show you.”

Right as both of them walked through the main entrance, he leaned down to whisper in her ear, “I wish I was fucking you, by the way.”

Before she even had a chance to stutter something back that would hide her embarrassment, both of them were engulfed in a crowd of girls screaming or whispering excited ‘oh my god’s at the sight of Matty.

Immediately one of them, seemingly a bit more ambitious as the others, pushed through and grabbed his arm.

“Please fuck me, Matty Healy.” She pleaded as she looked at him with a straight face, “please.”

He shook off her hands in a way that didn’t seem rude and laughed, “Oh darling, I’m flattered thank you. Shall we take a picture, yes?”

After they had taken several selfies, more and more girls rushed in, several of them also asking to have sex with him – one even offering to give him a blowjob right there and then. While he handled the situation with total ease as if he was used to all of that happening around him, Lacey just watched it all in utter shock. Some of those girls couldn’t even have been fifteen years old and were already willing to give everything to Matty, just because he was in their favorite band.

After a while, Matty put his arm around Lacey, which caused several girls to snarl at her in jealousy, “Well ladies, it has been a pleasure as always, but we gotta go back inside for soundcheck and all of that. See you inside.” He winked and pulled Lacey back inside with him.

As soon as the door shut behind them, Lacey stopped walking and looked at Matty in total shock, “Did that seriously just happen?!”

He laughed lightly as he pulled her close, “I told you I was quite well known.”

She put her arms around his waist, amazed at the confidence she had around him, and looked up at him, “I can’t believe they just downright asked you to have sex with them, who does that?!” She shook her head and continued her thought, “Imagine you weren’t famous and one of those girls just randomly saw you in a store and thought you were hot. Imagine if that chick walked over to you, grabbed your arm and literally begged you to have sex with her, how weird would that be?!”

He leaned his forehead against hers as he laughed softly, “Pretty fucking weird.” He smiled as he pulled her even closer, “You know what I’ve noticed about you since last night?”

“Hm? What’s that?” Lacey smiled.

“You’ve grown so much more confident.” He grinned, “It’s like the girl who thought she wasn’t special is completely gone.”

She laughed lightly, knowing that she was only acting that way because of him. Because he made her feel as if she could be confident, as if she should be.

Pulling away from him slightly, she cocked an eyebrow at him, “Well you told me I should be more like lace, didn’t you?”

“I certainly did.” He smirked and with that he crashed his lips onto hers.
