(Alec's pov)"Have you spoken with Lydia? No one's seen her since the wedding." I ask my mother and she ignores me."Mom, come on." I tell her

"Maryse." Dad says to her

"Mom, I understand you're upset, but this is" I tell her

"Calling off the wedding would've been one thing but kissing that half wolf in front of the entire Institute? You've embarrassed all of us." Mother says to me

"Why? Because she's not purely Shadowhunter? " I ask her

"No." Mother says

"Then what's the problem?" I ask her

"That you chose Piper Graymark." Mom tells me

"She's so new to this world. Not only that we've never had a half breed and we don't know what could happen. We don't know anything about her. How much do you know?" Dad asks me

"If I don't know enough for your liking, then I plan to get to know her.And if you have a problem with that, then I suggest you deal with it. Now, I have to go find Lydia." I tell them

"She's probably packing for Idris in your father's office. What she did-" Mother starts

"Saved my life. So I should go thank her." I tell them and walk off to where Piper is in another hallway

"On a scale of one to ten how horrible was it?" Piper asks me

"Off the charts. Yeah, I've never seen them so angry." I tell her

"Just give them some time." Piper reassures me

"You haven't done anything wrong to upset your parents. After what I did I don't think they'll ever forgive me." I tell her

"Don't underestimate a parent's love. You don't regret it, do you?" Piper asks me

"Everything happened so fast. I didn't have time to think. I just wanna make sure Lydia's okay. Now I owe her so much." I explain to Piper

"We owe her. What she did was very selfless. Hey, look, maybe we can slow things down? Why don't we start with that date you owe me?" Piper offers

"Yeah, let's do that." I tell her as she smiles. We walk into the office and see Lydia on the ground.

"Lydia!" I yell, Piper checks her pulse and nods that she is alive."Go get help. You're gonna be okay." I tell her as we heal her with her rune. She wakes up

"Hodge" Lydia says before passing out.

(Piper's pov)"How's Lydia?" Clary asks Alec as we walk over to everyone

"Better. Magnus is doing what he can to help her, but it's bad. And the Cup is definitely missing." Alec tells us

"So is Hodge." Jace states

"Maybe he was attacked, too." Izzy reasons

"Maybe he's the one who attacked her." Clary says as we look through the camera feed.

"Hodge? No way. We've known him our entire lives. He would never do that to us." Izzy tells us as we watch Hodge knock out Lydia and take the cup

"I led him right to the Cup." Jace tells us

"That's not true." Ashlynn says to him

"We treated him like family. How could he do this to us?" Alec asks as we go through the footage and see him using a ring

"That's how. What is that ring?" Clary as us

"Looks like he's talking to someone." Izzy explains

"And I can bet who it is." Jace states

"Valentine." Clary says

"Well, that explains how he deactivated the Punishment rune, but it doesn't explain where he got the ring." Alec tells us

"You think someone smuggled it past the wards?" Clary asks

"Maybe. Hodge wasn't the only ex-Circle member around here." Jace states

"Look, I know I don't always see eye to eye with my parents, but I know they're not traitors." Izzy defends them

"Really? Isn't that what you just said about Hodge? It'd have to be someone we trusted, but if there was an intruder inside the Institute, we would have found them by now." Jace reminds us

"What about the Forsaken attack?" Clary asks

"No. We killed that thing, and I didn't see a ring." Alec tells us

"He didn't have one during the autopsy, but maybe there's something in the footage." Izzy says going back through the footage

"Go to the other camera." Alec tells her

"There." Jace says as we see Hodge take the ring from the Forsaken.

"So, it wasn't a random attack." Clary says

"He was just the delivery boy." Thomas finishes

"If he gives that Cup to Valentine, he'll create an army of Shadowhunters.With that kind of power behind him, he'll kill thousands." Alec tells the group

"He'll kill thousands just creating the army. Most mundanes won't survive that." Izzy says

"We won't let that happen." Clary tells her

"I'm gonna make sure of it." Jace says and storms off. Alec and I follow him.

"Jace, what are you doing?" Clary asks as she walks in to the room where Jace, Alec and I are getting our weapons ready.

"Every second we waste here, Hodge gets closer to Valentine." Jace states

"Hey, we're a team, all right? I know you're mad right now, but Hodge could be dangerous." Clary tells him

"Three of us, one of him. Check the math, but I'm pretty sure he's outnumbered." Jace tells her

"What is with you? Would you just talk to me for a second?" Clary

"Lydia, Hodge. All this is happening because I didn't stop Valentine." Jace tells her as Ash walks in.

"Jace, you cannot let emotions cloud your judgment. Your words, remember? When I first wanted to find my mom, I didn't care about anyone else. But you were the one that taught me that it's about a world that's bigger than us." Clary reminds him

"That's why you need to wake her up.She was his prisoner and his wife. If anyone can stop him, she can." Jace tells Clary

"Jace, listen to me" Ashlynn tells him"You're not in any state to go on a mission. Let Piper and Alec go. Help Clary, Izzy, Thomas, Simon, and I get the book of the white." She tells him

"You can do this." Jace tells her

"Maybe I can. But it's not about me, it's you I'm worried about. You cannot let Valentine's evil poison you!" Clary reminds him

"He's my father." Jace tells her

"Actually he's our father." Clary corrects him

"You don't get it." Jace says as he walks out. Alec and I look at each other and go to follow him.

"Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on him Ash. I promise." I tell her and follow Alec.

"Jace How are we gonna find Hodge? He didn't leave anything we can track.We might be able to ask Magnus or Ashlynn for help." Alec tells him

"You need to stop thinking with your stele, Alec. There's more than one way to track." Jace tells us as I look at him.

"I can go into my wolf form and try and track him. But it'll be easier if I have help tracking throughout the city." I tell them, Jace nods then calls my dad.

(Ashlynn's pov)"For Shadowhunters, you don't seem to do a lot of Shadowhunting." Raphael tells us as we walk in for the meeting.

"There is more to the job than killing demons." Izzy says to him

"We need to talk to Camille. We know you have her here. We tracked her to the DuMort." Clary demands

"It's true, but I'm afraid she's a bit tied up at the moment. Is there something I can help you with?" Raphael asks us

"Just a second. Look, I know this sounds crazy, but we have to let them talk to Camille. She has a spell book that could wake up Jocelyn Fairchild. Valentine might have the Cup. The entire Downworld's in danger." Simon tells Raph

"She's far too dangerous. Or did you already forget what happened last time you "talked" to her?" Raphael reminds him

"It's not like she can kill me again." Simon says

"You said it yourself if Valentine has the Cup, the entire Downworld is at risk. Camille will only make things worse. I'll bring you what's left of Camille's things, but speaking to her is out of the question." Raphael tells Simon then us

"Her things? This isn't the kind of book she would've just left sitting around." Clary states

"I'm sorry but that's the best I can do." Raphael says

"We're supposed to be allies." Clary snaps

"And we are. But Shadowhunters have no business interfering with the Night Children's affairs. You may look to the Clave for justice, but the vampires look to me. Camille stays where she is." Raphael stands his ground

"You're making a huge mistake." Clary growls.

(Piper's pov)I was in my wolf form trying to track Hodge. Alec looks at me

"Nothing yet huh?" He asks as I shake my head, suddenly I pick up on a smell, blood. I growled"Lead the way." He tells me and I run off following the smell to see Jace overtop of Hodge. Alec tackles him

"It's over!" Alec tells him as I grab the backpack with the clothes I packed and go behind a wall and shift back.

"It's not over. He's a traitor. He deserves to pay." I hear Jace tell Alec

"You nearly killed him!" I hear Alec yell back as I put on a black t-shirt, light blue jeans, and black running shoes and walk over the Jace and Alec.

"Maybe I should've killed him! He sided with Valentine, Alec. The Clave let him go once before and look where that got us." Jace tells us

"What are you gonna do? You're gonna kill every ex-Circle member, even our parents?" Alec yells back

"Robert and Maryse aren't my parents." Jace spits

"You said it yourself. They raised you. They are your parents! Just calm down." Alec tries to reason as my dad walks over

"There's a dungeon in Idris with your name written all over it." Dad tells him as I walk over and hug him.

"Hey dad." I tell him

"Hey Piper." He says back as Alec puts the cuffs on Hodge and use his stele to heal Hodge. He walks over and grabs my hand."I have to ask. Are you two-?" My dad trails off

"We are." Alec tells him, my dad looks between us two

"I approve. But if you hurt her I won't hesitate to feed you to my pack." He tells Alec

"Understood." Alec says.

(Ashlynn's pov)"So these are all of Camille's things?" Izzy asks Raph

"All I could find. But she has hideouts all over the city." Raphael tells us

"Interesting." I say as Izzy picks up some tube.

"I thought you were looking for a spell book." Raphael asks us

"We are." Izzy confirms

"We? Where are your friends?" Raphael asks us as I look at Izzy.

"Did you really think this stall tactic was going to work?" Raphael asks us

"No but I thought this would." Izzy says and tries to catch him in her whip

"Typical Shadowhunter always underestimating a vampire." Raphael tells us as I try and use my magic but he runs off before I could do anything. Izzy and I go running after him.

(Piper's pov)"Alaric, we've got Hodge. Call off the rest of the pack. We're gonna need a pickup. We're at the subway station near Bergen. Yeah. I'll see you in five. How's Hodge doing?" Dad asks us hanging up the phone

"He'll live. It's Jace I'm worried about.Valentine really messed with his head." Alec tells us

"What, at Renwick's?" My dad asks

"Yeah. He went through a lot recently.I thought we had settled it, but something's killing him inside. I don't know what it is." Alec tells us and I nod

"This is all too familiar. I saw a similar thing with Valentine 18 years ago." My dad says

"Jace isn't Valentine." I tell him

"Not yet. We gotta keep an eye on him." Dad tells us

"All right." Alec agrees

"Where'd they go?" My dad asks as he turns around

"What do you mean?" Alec asks as we look at the empty spot where Jace and Hodge were.

Alec has been non stop calling Jace trying to get in contact with him."Where the hell are you?" Alec yells through the phone as he pits it on speaker

"I'm going after Valentine. Go help Clary." Jace tells us

"You're acting crazy. All right? Whatever Valentine's telling you, it's not true." Alec reminds him

"That's just it, Alec. It is true. He's my father. He taught me how to fight. Not to be weak." Jace tells us

"You can't let him control you like this. This isn't you!" Alec yells at him

"It is me. It's always been me. He raised me to be a killer. Now I'm gonna make him regret it. Go help Clary. She needs you." Jace tells us

"No. No. No, no. You don't have to do this. All right? You're not a-Jace?" Alec says but Jace hung up.

(Ashlynn's pov)We got stuck behind some wall where sun will shine directly through as I break through it with my magic.

"Seriously, guys? Typical vampire always underestimating a Shadowhunter. Adios." Izzy says as we join the group and walk out using the tunnels.

"I think I'd have been better off just staying in the coffin." Camille says to us

"I mean I wouldn't have complained." I mumble

"But you didn't. We got you out." Clary tells her

"Technically, Ash and I got you out." Izzy tells Clary

"Noted. Now, tell us where the book is." Clary demands

"Patience, my dear-" Camille tries but Clary is having none of that

"Enough! Just because we got you out doesn't mean I won't kill you right here." Clary yells

"There's still one more thing I require of, um" Camille starts looking st Simon

"Simon." Simon tells her

"A Writ of Transmutation." Camille demands

"Oh you've got to be kidding me." I say

"What the hell is that?" Simon asks us

"A document stating you asked her to turn you into a vampire." Izzy tells

"Signed and sealed in your blood, of course." Camille says

"Haven't you had enough of my blood?" Simon snaps

"Never. And I definitely don't want the Clave to falsely accuse me of killing mundanes." Camille says

"You want Simon to pardon you? No way. You killed Simon. The least we could do is return the favor." Clary says hold a seraph blade up to her neck

"And yet the second I go up in smoke, so does any hope of you finding your precious book." Camille tells her, Simon grabs her shoulder and pulls her back.

"It's okay." Simon tells her

"So where do we get this document, huh? I can't imagine you have many friends left." Clary says to us

"I know a guy." Camille says as we head to my brothers place and walk in."So, Magnus, how long has it been? One hundred? One hundred fifty years?" Camille asks him

"One hundred and thirty-eight. Oddly, I haven't missed you." Magnus states

"Of course you have, my love." Camille says trying to win him over again

"All right, you two can catch up later.Right now, we need to find the Book of the White." Clary states

"And you will, but not without payment. You of all people should understand that." Camille tells my brother

"Of course. And what is it you require?" Magnus says unhappily

"A clean slate." Camille says

"She wants a Writ of Turning-Me-Into-A-Vampire." Simon tell him

"And we need you to draft it." Clary says

"Hmm. I thought I was done with you." Magnus says to Camille

"We'll never be done with each other." Camille says back

"I'm gonna call for backup." Izzy says as I go with her and Thomas.

We wait out there for Alec and Piper to get here and once they do walk back in to see my brother kissing Camille."Well, this is awkward." Magnus says pushing Camille away

"Where's the book?" Alec asks

"It's complicated." Magnus tells him

"Clearly." Alec says looking at Camille

"I have it." Camille tells them

"And she's graciously offered it in exchange for her freedom." Magnus says

"And her freedom requires a lip-lock?" Izzy asks annoyed

"We don't negotiate with prisoners." Alec tells Camille

"Prisoner? I beg to disagree. You see, I'm your only chance at saving the world. You need me." Camille says to him

"I don't have time for this. Where's Clary?" Alec asks and Magnus points to the other room and Alec follows.

"How's Jace?" I ask Piper

"Not well. He went after Valentine alone Ash." She tells me

"Oh no. Piper what are we going to do?" I ask her

"Not sure yet." She says as we follow Camille into the other room with Izzy and Thomas.

"Ready to sign?" Camille asks Simon with the document in hand.

"Take us to the apartment, give us the book, then you can have your pardon." Simon tells her as she looks at all of us seeing none of us waver. I'm honestly done with this bitches bullshit to give her any sympathy at all.

"I wouldn't have it any other way." Camille tells Simon

"Good." Simon says.

We walk into Camille's apartment when Simon speaks up"I thought the underground parking was nice." Simon tells us

"Wow. You've got a lot of books." Alec says as we walk into a room filled with them.

"I've got a lot of time on my hands." Camille tells him

"Welcome home, Madame Belcourt." Some random vamp says to her

"This place creeps me out." Izzy says to her brother

"Yeah. Let's check the perimeter." Alec says to Izzy and Piper

"Good idea. If I know Camille, she'll have a trick or three up her sleeve." Magnus tells them and they all walk off while I stay with Clary, Simon, Thomas and Camille.

"I still don't get it. Why do you have this place if you live at Hotel DuMort?" Clary asks her looking through the bookshelves

"The DuMort has too many rules. Think of it like Gracie Mansion. It's the official residence, but it doesn't mean I have to live there. This place gives me the freedom to indulge in certain proclivities." Camille says walking over to Simon

"You know, the mayor has the same problem. Ow! Hey." Simon yelps as Camille poked him with something

"Come with me. On the dotted line. Thank you." Camille says as Simon signs the form.

"He did what you asked. Now give us the Book of the White." Clary demands

"I'd love to but I can't. I have no idea where it is." Camille tells her

"Dot gave it to you." Thomas states

"I'm sure it's here somewhere. But if the idea was to hide it, telling me would defeat the purpose. Dot must have put it somewhere when I wasn't looking." Camille tells her

"So we have to search the whole apartment?" I ask her

"See? That's the spirit. Although I'd start now. I've got four more rooms just like this one. Good-bye, Simon. It's been a pleasure doing business with you." Camille tells us

"Wait." Simon states

"I wish I could, my little caramel. But don't worry we'll see each other soon." Camille says and runs off

"I hate when she does that." Simon says as Clary gets a call and I help Simon look for this book.

"Jace? Are you okay?" Clary says into the phone

"At Camille's apartment, Upper East Side. Alucard building, 13th floor." Clary says

"We are so close to finding the Book of the White. I'm not leaving without it." Clary tells him

"You said yourself, we have to stay on mission." Clary says

"I can't." Clary says and hangs up

"Is Jace okay?" I ask her

"He was warning us. We'll be out of here before the danger comes. We need to find the book." She tells me and walks over to Simon.

"I wish my mom had left us something. Some sort of clue." Clary says

"Maybe she did. Did she ever say anything about a book?" Simon asks

"I don't think so. And if she did, she erased my memory of anything to do with the Shadow World." Clary tells us

"Well, there's got to be something.Maybe the clue has something to do with color, you know? White is the absence of color, so or is that black?" Simon says as Clary pulls out a book.

"Simon, just let me think for a second." Clary says to him

"Clary, that's a cookbook." I tell her

"I've seen this before. Chicken cacciatore, remember? My mom used to make it all the time." Clary recalls

"How could I forget? Even better the next day. The gift that keeps on giving. It's" Simon says to her

"Maybe more than we realized." Clary says

"Is that what I think it is?" Simon asks

"This is it." Clary says as she puts the bookmark back into place and reveals the book of the white.

"You did it!" Thomas yells and they hug before the pull away awkwardly.

"We gotta go. He's here." Izzy runs in and tells us

"Let's go." Clary says

"Come on." Simon tells her before a portal appears and Valentine steps through.

"Clarissa. Thomas. So good to see you two again. Where's your brother?" Valentine asks them

"You think I'd tell you?" Clary asks

"You won't have to." Valentine states as he walks up to us

"Stay away from her!" Simon yells and goes to take him down and gets chucked to the floor.

"Simon!" Izzy and I both call out when Jace runs in.

"Stop! This time you're not getting away." Jace says to him

"Finally ready to kill your own father?" Valentine states

"You abandoned me." Jace says

"I was protecting you. You weren't ready then, but you've grown. You've become the warrior I've trained you to be." Valentine tells him

"You trained me well." Jace says to him

"And yet, I still have so much to teach you. I brought you here for a reason.Look, fight me, and watch your friends die." He says as a Circle member puts a blade to my neck. I look around to see Simon and Izzy with blades as well.

"See, you are strong, but they make you weak." Valentine says as Piper, Alec, and Magnus all are dragged in with blades to their neck as well.

"Let us go. You can have the book.We won't be able to stop you without it." Clary bargens.

"Ah, Clarissa. So like your mother. Willing to do anything for those that you love. I'm touched, but the book was never part of my plan. I want you two to wake up your mother. I know that you'll all join me eventually. It's fated. You ready?" Valentine tells Clary then asks Jace. He thinks then puts down his blade

"If I go with you promise me you won't hurt them." Jace asks as I go to freeze the guys body. I look over at Magnus who's telling me not to.

"You have my word." Valentine tell him

"This is insane." Thomas states

"I'm sorry, Clary. I'm sorry everyone." Jace tells us

"Jace what are you doing? You can't be serious! Valentine is wrong. You're not like him. We're not. You're not!" Clary says to him

"You don't know that, Clary. You don't know that." Jace says as he stands beside Valentine

"Let them go." Valentine demands as I immediately go up to try to get him with Alec and Izzy.

"Simon" Clary yells as he holds her in place

"Get back, get back. Alec, I mean it." Jace tells us, they both back off but I walk forward

"Jace what are you doing?" I ask him

"Ashlynn. Stay back." He tells me

"Jace don't go!" I plead to him

"Ash don't forget how much I care for you. We'll meet again. Rather another world or this world sometime. I'll never forget you." Jace tells me, I go to run but my brother grabs me and holds me back.

"Jace. Jace" Clary yells and Simon loses his grip and she goes to chase after him before Alec grabs her and Jace is gone."What are you doing?" Clary demands at Alec

"Saving your life. If you enter a Portal not knowing where you're going, you'll be stuck in limbo forever." Alec tells her and I just sink into Magnus' arms. He's really gone.

(Piper's pov)"At least we got Hodge, right? Clary?" Simon says trying to encourage her.

"We have to find Jace. He thinks Valentine did something to him. Raised him to be evil, but But I know Jace. He's good." Clary tells us

"He's tough. He can handle himself.Besides knowing Jace, I give it a week before Valentine's begging us to take him back." Simon says chuckling

"Simon, not now." Clary tells him

"We'll save him. What Valentine told Jace about his friends making him weak, that was wrong. Love makes us stronger. You saved me from the vampires. Without you and Jace, I wouldn't be here. We'll save him. I promise." Simon promises her

"Thank you." Clary says

"Whatever you do, don't lose hope. I love you, Clary." Simon says

"I love you, too, Simon." Clary tells him and goes in for a hug. I walk away to find Ashlynn in Jace's room.

"Little creepy don't you think Ash?"I ask her trying to lighten the mood. She sniffles and looks up at me, her eyes red at this point.

"You're right. Sorry I should go." She says and gets up before I pull her into a hug."He's gone. He's really gone." She cries into my arms

"Hey. Hey we'll get him back okay? We'll get him back." I convince her

"How do you know that? You heard him there. He was saying goodbye. We can't expect anything." Ash says to me trying to calm her breathing.

"I promise you. We will work our asses off to get Jace back. Not just for you. For Alec, for Thomas and Clary- his siblings, and the entire institute." I tell her and give her a big hug.

"We'll get him back." I promise "Come on Ash, they're about to wake up Jocelyn." I tell her and drag her out there after calming her down.

"Do you really think this is gonna work?" Clary asks as we approach the group

"Let us hope." Magnus says as Ash takes his hand ready to help with the spell

"Jocelyn!" Magnus calls and starts speaking some other language and starts pulsing, she starts waking up and is about to fall when my dad grabs her.

"I got you." My dad tells her

"Luke." Jocelyn says hugging him, he helps her stand up.

"Mom. Mom! I've missed you so much." Clary says to her as she hugs her mom

"Oh I'm so sorry I didn't tell you about your past." Jocelyn tells her

"No, not now. I have had enough for one day. We can talk about all that later. Right now, I just I just really need my mom." Clary sys hugging her

"It's okay." Jocelyn tells her and I go and hug her

"I'm glad your okay." I tell her and she hugs me again

"Oh Piper." She says hugging my dad, Clary and I.

"Join me and my son! Pledge me your loyalty! Together we can preserve our race and rid the world of the demons who plague it. You are the chosen ones. The new breed of Shadowhunters!" Valentine calls on the boat to his new army with Jace by his side, getting thunderous applause from his new followers.
