Chapter 7

JAMES

I woke up very early cause I need to go to cafe. Even though I don't have duty today, since my annoying boss want me to go to his office cause of his important matter that I don't have any idea what the hell it is.

It's already 9 in the morning and I wait for our boss to come to work. Crazy how he wants me to come for work very early while he is always late. I've been here since 7:30 and just like what I expected he is not here.

I stay on counter first to help my co-workers taking orders while waiting for him. And it is quarter to 10 when he came. Looking so bossy as he enter the shop. But immediately wear his fake smile as he approach some customers.

As he reached counter and saw me sitting in a small chair inside while chitchatting to some coworkers, he immediately raise his left brows and gesture me to follow him. I just sigh and follow upstairs, his office is located at 2nd floor of the shop. Only four rooms and a living area space, good for visitors are here in the floor.

The owner's office room, Our boss' office room, two resting bedrooms for the employees. Employee bedrooms has 4 double deck beds each, cause the owner thought it's necessary cause we have part timers that still a student and if there's no place to stay for us, the shop is open for us to stay in but still there are some limitations and reminders that needed to comply.

The owner of this shop is really thoughtful and kind, he cares a lot about his people that's why we respect him so much. But his son is really different from him. I'm wondering how come he got an evil child?

I cameback to my senses when I accidentally bump into a not so hard back. And I realized my boss stopped walking.

"I told you to come to my office early in the morning, right? And why are you just now?" He said.

Wa what the? Isn't he the one late? I'm already here very early.

"Sir, I'm already here before 8. You are the one who are not here yet."

"So you're saying I'm late?"

YES! YOU ARE! I'VE WAITED FOR HOW LONG AND YOU WILL JUST GOING TO SCOLD ME FOR BEING LATE?

"It's not that sir, I just said that I came here early as what you want me to come. But when I asked my coworkers they said you haven't coming yet."

"I know. What I mean is I told you to come to my office early in the morning but I will just see you sitting at the counter?"

Huh?

"Sir? What do you mean?"

"*Sigh* i told you to come here in my office but you stay in the counter."

"Huh?"

"What I ordered you is to wait for me here, inside my office and not downstairs."

"I can't come up here in your office sir, cause you are not yet here."

"But I'm the one who told you to wait me here."

"It's against the rules of the sh--"

"If i told you to wait for me here you should follow my order. I didn't lock my office so you could come in earlier. And in fact, my dad trust you the most that's why he made you a team leader right?"

He said as he sit down on his chair and giving me his cocky smirk and looks. I sigh as a response being defeated.

"I understand sir. I'm sorry for not following your instructions. I'll listen and follow it next time."

"Nevermind, so I call you here because --"

He got interrupted because of a knock from the door that made the both of us look at the doorway.

"Come in."

"Good morning, Sir Net. I came here to pass my permission letter."

I look at the junior entering and hand the letter to Sir Net. I look at the letter with full of curiosity. Permission for what?

"Okay, Arman. I grant it. How long will you be gone?"

"Only two weeks sir. I just need to finish some personal stuff at home."

"You'll be gone by two weeks?"

I asked. I'm his trainer and he didn't asked for me about this.

"Yes Phi, I'm sorry I didn't told you. I straight talk to Sir Net about this cause it is emergency."

"It's fine. Atleast I could focus on teaching Camille and Vincent in the kitchen."

"Camile and Vincent are also on leave for two weeks too." Sir Net said.

"What? I mean why? Why I don't know about this?" I said.

"They need to do their emergency and other personal stuffs. Vincent will be competing for a marathon so he is under a training. While Camille need to finish her Project that needed to be done by the third week of this month."

Sir Net explained and as I nod, Arman immediately walk out of the room and left. I'm surprised but I also think it's nice. I don't have any juniors need to train for two weeks, means my time for training hours is free and I could just do my project or hanging out somewhere or just invading Tutor's privacy.

"But that doesn't mean you are free on your training hours."

Sir Net said that made me back to reality and fades my small smile in my lips and look at him.

"What do you mean sir?"

"Since all of your juniors are out, you need to occupy their time. You need to work half of their duty time here."

"But sir--"

"What? But don't worry, you will still be paid by training hours added to your salary."

"Sir It's not about the salary. Can I just not take the training hours since my juniors are on leave?"

"Sorry, but it's a no. You will still being paid for those hours."

"Just deduct it sir. I don't need an extra salary for that."

"You don't need money?"

"I don't need it si-"

"Then why are you still here? Why are you still working here if you don't need money? Huh? Why are you staying here in our cafe if you don't need money?"

Sir Net giving me a suspicious look and looks like very curious.

Right! I really don't need money. I actually don't care if he deduct half of my salary or paid me late. As long as I work here. Then it's enough.

He stand up from his chair and walk in front of me as he leaned in his table facing me and looks like waiting for an answer from me as he asked,

"I actually really curious about you. You are already working here for almost two years. Some employees requested to raise their pays, while you don't ask for it. You insist too to raise the salary of others instead yours. Do you have anything agenda here? Or you are keeping something from us? Mr. James? Is my dad right for trusting you?"

He said very curious. I don't have any words to explain. I don't want them to know my reason. It's crazy and looks more suspicious but I don't have any bad intentions I just want to stay here and work.

"Fine, seems you are not ready to say it for now. But let me tell you--"

He stand straight and start walking towards me as he slowly lean his face towards mine not so near and look at my eyes intensely, as I look at those dark-shiny eyes back he continue saying,

"You are under my watch. All your actions are watch by me. Every single actions of yours. If you have any bad agenda here, it's not too late to step back. Baby boy."

He said as he slightly pinch my chin and gave me his annoying smirk and start walking passed by me and out of his office.

I just left out a heavy sigh. I actually don't have any problem about being watched or anything. My problem is the more I don't want to be close with this annoying boss is the more he finds a way to watch and be near me. I don't hate him personally cause he still nice to everyone except me. But I don't like him being so cocky and evil towards me. It's just so annoying just seeing his face what more if he goes near me.

I left his office and look at the schedules of employees and sadly Arman has a shift this afternoon while Vincent is scheduled for closing hours tonight. So I need to stay and close the shop.

I remember that I and New talked that we will meet with Tutor and Yim in the library this afternoon but since I can't come, I decided to take my phone out and just send a message in our group chat.

*Group chat

James: @nunew I'm sorry I can't meet you today. My juniors are on the leave for two weeks so I need to take half of their shifts. So we only can meet after class.

Nunew: Aww~ I'm about to message you too. I don't think I can meet you too during times we agreed. We got an urgent filming schedule for a brand endorsement and I just got informed earlier. So probably only after class hours I am free for more than a week.

James: Oh I see then I'm at ease. Thought you will work for it alone.

Nunew: That's what I think too that you'll work on it alone. Lol

James: Glad you're not. If it wasn't because of my boss, I can leave earlier. I badly wanna kill this idiot.

Nunew: He's giving you hard time again?

James: As always ;((

Nunew: Aww but it's fine, we can meet the other time.

Yim: So the both of you are not coming?

James: Unfortunately, we can't ;(

Nunew: Sorry Muyim ;(((

Yim: It's fine Nunu. You both have work. Just take care.

James: Are you alone in the library?

Nunew: Where's is Tutor?

Yim: He's with me. He just looking for more books we can use.

James: Then take care okay? I need to back to work.

Nunew: Me too. Bye bye Muyim :*

Yim: Okay, take care.

"Are they coming?"

Tutor who just came sit across me and put the books on the table.

"A sudden work came, so they can't."

I said and he just nod and continue what's he doing. I got curious about James work so I ask about it to Tutor.

"James works in cafe right?"

"Yeah, why you asked?"

"Just curious how dedicated he is, he is still working even he is still attending university. He worked hard gor his future."

As i said that, he look at me for few seconds before trying to stop himself from laughing.

"Why are laughing? "

"Nothing. I just can't believe someone really thought he work so hard to earn and continue his study. Well, when in fact he doesn't need money."

"What do you mean?

"It's not my right to tell it. Just ask him if you wanna know."

He said and look at me, smirking then to his notes.
