—
UPON EXITING THE HOKAGE'S MANSION, The Yamanaka girl strolled over the village, once again smiling over the view. The smell of fresh air filled up her nostrils, and seeing the citizens walk around the place makes her smile even wider.
It was really a peaceful scenery.
She waved her hand towards the Chunins, who were proudly wearing their Green vests, gladly waved back at her.
She sighed, remembering the days when she was young;
Her mind, well... You could say innocence is a precious thing.
Soon after, growing up made her realized how the world evolved through many.... different things.
She stopped at her tracks, looking at the highest point of the building, Lightning Burger. Her stomach slightly grumbled, making her flustered. She giggled at the sound, knowing that it was time for a snack.
Her eyes trailed down at a poster, reading it carefully before entering the restaurant with a smile. They're having a limited burger huh? I guess I'll try one....
She slowly entered as her teal orbs looked at the crowded place. She ignored the stares she was receiving, luckily first in line.
Inomi lowered her hood, stating her order at the cashier.
"—CHILI BURGER, HERE I COME!"
Her body jolted up at a loud voice behind her, she turned her head to see a Yellow-haired boy with a lousy Green blob beside him.
She cleared her throat, as her face grimaced at the newcomer. She decided to focus her attention again to the cashier. "Hi... I've heard you have the limited Chilli Burger, may I order one?"
The cashier smiled at Inomi's courtesy, responding with the same tone. "Yes! There are only three left!" He happily replied. "Please don't mind the commotion happening behind you, they're usually like this!"
"I see."
His eyes squinted, eyeing Inomi's figure that was about to get her money off her pouch. He immediately summed up a conclusion before stopping her actions.
"Wait, aren't you new here?" The cashier asked with curious eyes. She was taken aback from his sudden, question, responding with a curt nod.
"Don't worry about paying! It's on the house!"
Inomi blinked at the cashier shockedShe turned pink at his offer, mumbling a 'thank you'. She immediately puts her hoodie back on her head from the embarrassment.
"Man! I didn't get anything for free when I was new here!" The yellow-headed kid grumbled behind Inomi's back. His friend on the other hand— flicked his forehead because of his foolishness. "If I remembered correctly, you've bankrupt this restaurant after you ordered everything on the menu, even your dad paid for it."
Due to her eavesdropping she felt generous today, stopping the cashier leaving his counter. She silently whispered to him, making the worker genuinely scared.
"Keep the change." The cashier nodded at relief, hearing her request, rushing to the kitchen. Her figure patiently waited for her order to be served.
.
.
.
.
"I heard you're here for the Limited burger right?" Her anonymous figure faced the troublemakers. She brightened at the sight of their noticeable features. Whiskers and Signature Pineapple-hair.Uzumaki and Nara.
"Yeah Mysterious lady! You're lucky that you'll get the burger for free ya know?" He stated, pouting with furrowed brows. The spikey-haired boy sighed at his attitude yet again, staring at the girl calmly. "He means yes, don't mind his selfishness—"
"Hey!" The Uzumaki puffed his cheeks out.
The girl turned around while chuckling at their unique bonding, it was clearly like Naruto and Shikamaru's friendship when they were kids.
She smiled as she saw the cashier holding three burgers and sodas at a tray, serving it to her. "Hope you like it! And have a great day!"
She slightly bowed, thanking him once again before turning her attention back to the boys bickering behind her. She offered them to take the burgers and soda, but they were standing there waiting for a word.
Her eyes blinked, raising an eyebrow as she stared at the two boys infront of her.
"Well? Don't you want the Burgers or not?"
.
.
.
"EH?! FOR REAL?!" The Uzumaki exclaimed, slightly drooling over the delicious wrapped burgers, yet again facing the girl once more. Inomi nodded, carefully not dropping her own hood. Without hesitation, the two of them took two of the burgers and sodas.
"THANK YOU!" The both of them said simultaneously, she giggled in enthusiasm. She settled the tray on an empty table, taking her burger and drink before separating ways with the boys.
Not quite.
She squealed at the Uzumaki boy dragging her outside, as she furiously looked at them, asking them in panic. "Wait! Where are you taking me?!"
"Don't worry ya know? Just follow us!
If you can catch up with our speed!"
Inomi sighed seeing them jump building to building, shock that they were capable of using chakra. Not bad for a beginner.
With that, she followed them carrying her snack.
~
Their destination was pretty far ahead, as she landed gracefully on top of the Thunder Train. There she saw Uzumaki-san waving towards her, signalling her to sit with them.
She sat behind the two of them, drinking her soda as Uzumaki-san started the conversation. "The limited-edition Green Chilli Burger! Who would thought that it was their last day? Ye?"
The two of them deadpanned at his first words. She took a sip of her drink once again. Well, it is written on their posters.
The Nara sighed at his demeanor, while he stared at his burger.
"Why do I have to be the one keeping you company?" He whined rolling his eyes back, probably regretting following him at the first place but lucky to do so.
His fellow friend looked back at the whining Nara, arching his eyebrow before asking him a genuine question.
"You're not gonna eat?"
"What? Of course I am!"
The two of them raised their food together, in their mouth. Trying to figure out the taste whether it was delicious or not. The half-and-half girl looked at them in curiousity, while enjoying her snack for the meantime.
.
.
.
"SPICY!" The two exclaimed with tears on their eyes, The Yamanaka laughed at their reactions, while Nara-san looked at her with a scowl.
He took a long sip on his drink, ensuring his safety, as he mutters through his straw. "I don't believe this, you're unbelievable... quit laughing!"
"Sorry.. I just think your faces were funny..." Her voice trailed off looking to the side, enjoying the scenery. As the train goes faster, her eyes sparkled at the sight of the Hokage Mountain.
She was proud to see Naruto's face carved to the wall. Remembering the first time they met. He was an optimistic person, his destiny on becoming a Hokage was truly fitting for him. Naruto gave her the inspiration to pass down the "Will of Fire" inside of each Shinobi.
She shook her head, bringing her back to reality, hearing Nara-san's voice. "The Hidden Leaf Village is getting more and more modern, but we still have to attend that old-fashioned academy starting tomorrow."
Right. Naruto needs my help tomorrow.
"Oh, is it Tomorrow?" Uzumaki-san stated in shock earning a sigh from the pointy-haired boy.
"There's alot of stuff to get ready. Didn't your dad tell you?"
Silence was too loud. His relationship with his dad wasn't that— healthy for him.
"Sort of?..." He mumbled breaking the tension, sipping from his drink continuously.
"Boruto."
Oh so that's his name. Oops.
"Don't go doing stuff to embarrassed you dad, yeah? Cuz.... it's probably going to reflect on me too.." Shikadai? Yes. Shikadai said as a warning with his dull voice.
"What?"
Shikadai shoved his burger on Boruto's face. "Your mom always told me to look after you..."
The yellow blob took a bite on his burger, tilting his head sideways. "Mhy Mhom Joef?" (My Mom does?)
"Well you see, it's like a train..." He stood up.
"As long as it stays on tracks, it'll get to it's destination easily. So sit tight until you get there." The wise and smart Nara lectured them, while Inomi nodded her head at his explanation.
"What are you talking about? Anyways..." Boruto innocently turned to look at the hooded lady almost peeking inside her head. "Say lady, are you going to go with us in the Academy, you seem to be a person in our age!"
She lowered her head, avoiding her identity to be revealed responding, "oh... uh... uhm...
Oh look at the time! My koi fish is about to drown! See you!" She jumped off the train leaving the behind as they reached out to her.
"Well... Don't be late in our first day of school, Bye Boruto!" Shikadai exclaimed jumping off, and heading towards nowhere.
"Shut Up!"
~
Splatter
"Hm.... I still can't do it right.." A young boy sighed, in his room. Cleaning the colorful spots of his mess. Each spot reminds him of his failure.
He rolled up his scroll, placing it on his desk, while thinking about what he was doing wrong on using his father's special Technique; Super Beast Scroll.
Super Beast Scroll- a technique that allows the user to animate ink drawings, which act upon the user's will.
Inojin laid down on his bed, realizing his parents would be working overnight for tomorrow. He looked at his desk once again, taking a picture frame that captured his eye.
He smiled at the drawing, looking at the starry sky, putting his attention back to the drawing. "It's been Three years.... isn't it?"
"It's been so long? I didn't notice!"
He screamed, climbing on his bed— his head immediately snapped to where the voice came from. He saw teal orbs on the girl's face, seeing her half-and-half hair that reminds him of his parents.
He gasped at the sudden realization, carefully going down and walked straight towards the girl.
.
.
.
He embraced his sister, tightly as he could. She could here him sobbing on her shoulder, smiling at him before returning the hug back. "Where.... where.."
"Ji-Nii... didn't I promise you I would come back?" She pulled back from his hug, caressing his face and wiping his tears off. "Well here I am, back with you."
Taking off her brown cloth, she neatly placed it on a desk, stretching her body as she felt her bones crack.
"I'll clean up first, then we'll eat!" She said, placing her hands on her hips with a big smile on her face. Inojin chuckled while scratching his head. "Right!"
Inojin sighed. I don't know how to cook..
~
INOJIN WOKE UP From a delicious scent coming from downstairs, he looked to his side, seeing it was still dawn. He got out of bed, and rushed to the bathroom for a quick bath.
.
.
His outfit hanged on his closet was neat, no wrinkles were spotted on his indigo cloth, and his white jumper was completely white. He sighed that it won't last for a day. He dressed up, feeling the warm comfort of his jacket, knowing it was a sign of a good day.
.
.
He went downstairs, seeing his lovely twin setting down meals. Heck, it even looks like a full course meal!
Yakizakana, Tamagoyaki, Natto, and Onigiri.
He noticed his parents weren't in the kitchen, wondering where could they be?
"Mom and Dad left early at Four o'clock, Dad told me to cook for the two of us and...." She settled their bowls down on the table, sitting down beside Inojin. "I've feel like I've done too much..."
Inojin chuckled at his sister, patting her head with a curt smile. "You've done a great job..."
They joined their hands together near their chests, smiling at their meal. "THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD!"
~
As they went outside their home, Inojin arched a brow while looking at his sister's uniform. "Aren't you comfortable with that outfit or not?"
She looked at him with a smirk, tying her hair firmly before responding to her confused twin. "Wearing a crop top is easier to work with, it makes me move flexible as ever... I mean, mom made this for me..."
"Besides, being a Jonin is hard, Those three years aren't for nothing..." She finished, taking out her tanto, observing the sharp blade. She swung the blade, side to side, putting it on her back.
"Don't mind my outfit, it's your First day right?" She skeptically asked Inojin, he scratched his head from confusion yet again, sighing with a response.
"Yeah... why are you even taking me here?" Inojin muttered, slightly irritated from his confusion, Inomi could be popping out of nowhere even if he didn't blink. His face turned into a horrified look when he heard the mischievous Inomi giggled on spot.
"Naruto-san needs my help in case.... accidents happen... but you'll find out soon~" She cooed out, clasping her hand with her twin. Finally approaching the Academy's Ceremony area.
She saw identical faces, as she brightened up to the one and only Uchiha. Sarada Uchiha. "Yahoo!"
As their eyes met, Sarada waved slightly at Inomi. The Yamanaka separated ways from her brother, approaching the Black-haired girl.
.
.
.
"Long time.... no see Four eyes." She smirked as she saw an irk mark on Sarada's head. "Oy, Quit calling me that! You're lucky you've got Thinner Chubs!"
"Time's changed, right?" The half-and-half haired girl chuckled, nodding at ChoCho's direction. The Akimichi's lips curved up, nodding at her back.
"Nevermind that.... Where have you been all these years?" The Uchiha asked in concern, they might be so-called rivals, but their friendship was more stronger than ever. Inomi kept quiet, her fingers pointing to her lips as she thought of an answer.
"Hm... I'd say that it's an S Rank Mission?" Inomi teased.
But the look on her face says it wasn't— which confused the Uchiha.
She tilted her head.".... You've been out for Three years for an S Rank mission?"
Their conversation was cut short.
"EVERYONE LINE UP, THE CEREMONY WILL BEGIN SOON!" Shino announced, raising his hand towards the students. As they lined up, Inomi went beside where Shikamaru was standing. She listened over Shino checking everyone's attendance, suddenly feeling..... unusual. Her head became dizzy, caressing her forehead.
"Otsutsuki-sama...."
Be careful. I sense a culprit.
Is it draining me?
Your power cannot be drained unless it's artificial. Remember that.
She shook her head, noticing the Hokage's Advisor looking at her in worry. She waved him off just to make sure she was fine.
Seeing him nodding in approval, two of them looked at the nervous Hokage, The Nara placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder. "You stay put. You have to make a nice and warm speech soon."
Inomi furrowed her brows, seeing a missing Yellow-blob on the lines. She tugged Shikamaru's coat, whispering with an unsure tone. "I sense Boruto is up to no good...."
Screech.
Their heads jerked up and turned to see a flying train above them.
It's....It's out of tracks....
Inomi's eyes widened, seeing the train land on the Hokage's Stone face. She looked at Naruto was completely frozen while his face was twitching from confusion.
A familiar yellow-haired boy appeared, coming out of the train, dust disappearing to reveal the Troublemaker.
"Boruto Uzumaki, is here ya' know!"
I knew it.
"B-Boruto...." Naruto stuttered, looking at the mess. Of course. Why wouldn't he expect his.... son to do that?
"Talk about something embarrassing..." Shikamaru muttered, covering his face with his palm. Inomi glared at the frozen shinobis, before pointing her finger towards the students. "Don't just stand there, you heard Shikamaru-san, Evacuate the students immediately!"
Soon after, the shinobis immediately helped the students out of the area. She put her hand into a ram sign, landing inside the train.
She saw a boy inside the train, approaching him at ease. Offering her hand with a sly face. "Let's get you out of here, yeah?"
"No need to be shy Kaminarimon, you're not in trouble.."
The boy... ahem. Denki, hesitantly took Inomi's hand, heading out of the train towards a hole. The two of them went out together, capturing the moment of seeing Boruto struggling from Konohamaru's grip.
"Hey Denki! Are you ok?" Boruto asked, tilting his head, seeing his geeky friend with a female Jonin. Konohamaru widened his eyes, scowling at Boruto.
"Wha- You've got another kid involved?!"
"So what? We're fine!"
"What's so fine about all of this?!"
"Konohamaru-senpai... I think you should calm down.." Inomi said, chuckling at their tiny argument. Boruto nodded his head, facing Konohamaru with a smug face.
"Yeah! What the Lady said!" He defended while staring at Inomi— his cheeks flushed red. "Hehe.."
"You are so..." Konohamaru gave up, keeping his mouth shut. Inomi noticed Sarutobi's empty atmosphere, deciding to finish his point.
"Boruto Uzumaki. Expect your suspension coming up later." She deepened her voice, smiling at the Menace. He grumbled, looking down. "Maybe you're not-so nice lady afterall..."
"Care to repeat that, Brat?" He screamed at her face— that twisted as he said his statement, shaking his head aggressively.
"Very well, head back down with your friend, carefully."
~
"I wonder what's gonna happen to our easy life at the Academy?" Boruto wondered out loud, walking on the Road.
"Morning Boruto." Denki greeted his friend with a curt smile.
"My suspension is finally over..."
"I was supposed to be the one punished, why did you cover-up for me?" Denki asked genuinely, as the two of them walked together.
Boruto looked at him with a skeptical look, before responding with a chill voice. "Huh? Oh yeah, it's no big deal!"
"O-okay.." Denki stuttered, completely uncomfortable about what's happening right now. "But we made it in time for the Entrance Ceremony. Thanks!"
"I should be the one thanking you." Denki mumbled, looking straightforward.
"Huh?"
"Nothing."
Arriving in the Academy's Entrance, Boruto saw two familiar faces walking with eachother, greeting them.
"Oh, Goodmorning!"
"Huh. I wonder who that was..." Sarada sarcastically wondered, referring to Boruto.
"Who knows.." ChoCho said, eating a chip she took out from her bag of chips. Sarada walked past them, fixing her glasses.
"Yeah. Mr. Kaminarimon you should be careful, Stupidity is Contagious."
A butterfly flew past them, landing at the Yamanaka's pale finger.
There she sat down on the Academy's rooftop, laughing at the Uchiha's statement. Inomi sighed seeing the butterfly dissapear out of blue. She pressed her fingers near her forehead, taking a sharp breath.
"Are you sure that he's soon to be His Hostage, Otsutsuki-sama?"
I'm sure it would happen, when I wither... and please. Call me Toneri.
.
.
.
"I trust you on that one...." Because this is the new beginning of Naruto's Legacy.
Boruto Uzumaki. A True Pawn of the Moon...
~[A/N]
If you've been reading my fanfic since 2022 (big thanks to you) and you'll reread this and see the image change, then congrats you're a real og.
I feel like the drawing fits Inomi (my oc) more since she did grew up as an artist (who likes to sketch, paint, basically runs in their family) and a silly drawing wouldn't be Inojin and Inomi's thing but..
You get the point (the old one was a little bit childish)
And fun fact:
Yes, Inomi is chubby: you'll know why in the very latest chapter.
