More Than Anything
06:23, 6 April 2023~Momo~
I am lying in my bed, looking to the ceiling. I can't get that moment with Shoto near the tree house out of my mind.
"Go to sleep, Momo. Go to sleep," I scold myself, but all in vain.
I snatch my second pillow off of the bed and cover my face with it. I pound the mattress with my feet, clenching the pillow tightly.
His touch against my skin, his breath on my neck.
"Fuck," I grit my teeth and climb out of bed.
--
"Shoto?" I peek inside his room and creep inside.
"Momo? Why are you up," Shoto yawns.
"I want to talk to you."
"Can't it wait till morning, sweetheart?"
I suppress a chuckle at his choice of pet names and say "I can't sleep, To-Shoto."
"What is it?"
"I keep thinking of... this evening. It's keeping me up."
"Same," he sighs.
"How do you propose we fix that?" Shoto smirks.
"Acknowledge it. Discuss it."
"Momo, that was the most I've ever touched you. And I have to admit I quite enjoyed it. I want... I want to touch you again, like that."
I blush but refuse to take my eyes away from him. I face Shoto, taking in every little thing I love about his face.
"I enjoyed that, too. So, from now on, let's not be afraid anymore... to touch."
Shots comes in closer and kisses me once on the lips. He then pulls me into a warm hug, and I embrace him in return. I touch my face to his left jaw and take in the warmth emitting from his warm side.
"I love you."
--
And so, I walk back to my room, slide into my sheets, and finally, I fall asleep.
~Shoto~
One thing I learn instantly: Midoriya Inko is a strict chaperone. After she questioned us about where we disappeared to while dinner started and we had to lie, she has become a lot more stern. She did a head count during lunch the next day and noticed Bakugo and Utsushimi missing. So she searched the house until she found them, and from what I heard, it was not a good moment for Bakugo. Mrs. Midoriya told Mrs. Bakugo, but got a reaction that was far less than what she wanted.
"As long as nobody gets pregnant, then I'd have to kick his ass."
But after that incident, Momo and I are definitely not going to have another "session" until the trip is over and we are home again.
I did not know that Mr. Bakugo was such a talented chef until this trip. He has provided all of our meals, and acts very modest about it, even though his food is exceptional.
Ashido started this game where you have to admit one thing you've done, or sing a song of your choosing. This is because Mrs. Midoriya has banned all games of Truth or Dare unless she supervises them, which I am fine with. At least then, no one will ask me any more virgin questions.
"Alright, your turn Shoto."
I refuse to sing, so I confess that I once burned a meal I attempted to cook.
"How can you be a whole microwave and not be able to get a decent meal right," Ashido Shakes her head.
Kaminski asked, "Well, did it still taste good?"
"Why would I eat burned food?" I ask, dumbfounded.
"Hey, sometimes it's good."
"Major weirdo," Bakugo rolls his eyes.

This night, I decide to spend the night in Mina's room along with Kyoka and Ochaco. Shoto is doing the same in Midoriya's room with Kaminari and Kirishima.
"This bed is so relaxing," Ochaco declares as she stretches out across the bed.
"Yeah, well I could only fit one person in it–"
"Dibs!" Ochaco calls out.
"–The other two will have to sleep on the floor," Mina finishes.
"I don't mind," I say.
"Same," Kyoka agrees.
"I love this trip so much. The hot sands and the water, Bakugo's dad's amazing cooking skills, and just being here with all of you," Mina sighs happily. "If only Midoriya's mom wasn't such a–"
"She's a chaperone, and at a teen vacation, her job is literally to keep us from getting drunk and fooling around," Ochaco shakes her head and giggles.
"For real, the only reason Aizawa-san and Miss Joke were falling down on the job is because Aizawa was a bit more tired than usual and Miss Joke... is Miss Joke. If you ask me, she's awful when it comes to..."
"Being a responsible adult," I laugh.
"That's why she's cool," Kyoka chuckles. I can't help but think that it's because of Aizawa's exhaustion and Miss Joke's utter lack of attention to detail that Kyoka slept with Kaminari and probably why they're together right now. It's taking everything in me not to tease her about it, because I don't know if the others know yet.
"Well, I've got Pocky, Chocorooms and Yan Yan, so help yourselves," Mina grabs her backpack by the bottom and turns it upside-down, pouring the contents onto the floor. I dive for the first Pocky box I see.
"What are you guys doing when you get home?" I ask them.
"I'll be on a family vacation," Mina says.
"I want to write more songs and play my guitar a bit more than I have," Kyoka grins.
"I'll be volunteering at a couple of places, and trying to get a summer job," Uraraka smiles.
"What about you, Yao-Momo?" Mina asks.
"I guess... I'll try to catch up on some reading... practicing my quirk."
"Do you feel better about your quirk now?" Kyoka asks, her voice barely over a whisper.
"Yeah. What happened at the Festival was a result of my lack of confidence. I'm more confident about myself and my quirk, now. I'm doing the best I can and I should be proud of it."
"Yay!" Uraraka smiles.
"Let's go, Yao-Momo!" Mina celebrates.
"I'm so proud of you," Kyoka throws her arms around me.
I'm proud of myself too, I realize.
~Shoto~
"The fuck do I look like, drinking ginger ale?" Bakugo complains as he opens the can with his teeth and starts downing it.
"Like someone whose chaperone prohibited alcohol," Kirishima laughs.
"The nerve of that–" then he looks over and notices Midoriya staring at him. Instead of insulting Mrs. Midoriya, Bakugo gets up and leaves the room, still grumbling about his ginger ale. Before, Bakugo wouldn't have paid any attention to the look Midoriya gave him, but things are changing.
"So, men..." Kirishima says, "any plans for the summer?"
"Training... I figure if I train about five hours every day then my strength will increase by..." Midoriya mutters.
"Midoriya, chill," Kaminari laughs.
"Sorry," he laughs.
"So... heard you're dating Jiro-chan now," Kirishima says to Kaminari.
"Yeah. We started dating after the winter trip."
"Congrats," Kirishima says.
"Thanks."
Since no one has anything else to say, Midoriya plugs in a videogame and starts handing out controllers.
"Where'd you get this?" Kaminari asks. "This is niiiiice."
"Oh, my mom bought it for me. She was really happy because she saw me improving with school," Midoriya says.
"Your mom is awesome, dude," Kirishima says.
"Do you play video games, Todoroki-kun?" Midoriya asks as he hands me a controller. "We're playing a battle game."
"No, I never have."
"Oh goodness, I am not going against you," Kirishima laughs.
"Count me in, I never win any battles," Kaminari smiles.
What's that thing Bakugo says? Oh, that's right.
"Let's go."
~Momo~
And just like that, we're back from the trip. Ochaco took up a summer job during the week, and Kyoka signed up for guitar and voice lessons. Mina's gone a little crazy with her TikTok account. I'm not entirely sure what Toru isdoing, but Tsu is going camping with her dad. Bakugo and Utsushimi are most definitely dating now and Midoriya has been training a lot. Kaminari has become quite the gamer. Kirishima is at the gym often.
And Shoto and I?
Well, right now, we're at my house, in my room, watching a movie. Mom let us go up here on the condition that she "can trust us". His arm is around my shoulder as he eats popcorn and sucks his teeth at everything taking place in the film. Watching a movie with him is more entertaining than the movie itself.
"This is so stupid," he mumbles.
"Do you want to watch something else?" I giggle.
"No, I want to see how this ends."
When it does end, Shoto sighs with relief and lies back on my pillows, closing his eyes. He kisses my cheek and then rolls off of the bed.
"Shoto– wait."
"What?" He smirks.
"You can't just leave without a proper goodbye."
He smiles and drapes one arm around my waist. "And what would that be?"
I kiss him tenderly as I wrap my arms around his shoulders. He kisses me back and licks my lips, asking for entry. I allow it and his tongue slides into my mouth starting the war between our tongues. His hands slide to my waist as he moves his kisses to my neck. We back up to the wall and he slams me into the wall.
"Geez, not so loud."
"Sorry," he says, but the last half of the word is muffled by another kiss. I slide my hands to his chest and keep them there as he moves his kisses back to my lips.
When we break apart, I whisper, "That's a proper goodbye."
He smiles at me and kisses my cheek once more before leaving.
I love him so much, I think. I lie back in my bed, smiling when I catch his scent on my pillow. I bury my face into said pillow, grinning like an idiot.
~Shoto~
"Father," I greet him.
"Shoto. How are you?"
Beside me, Momo shifts in her seat uncomfortably. I brought her to have lunch at my house so that Father could apologize for the way he's treated her.
No one speaks a single word for a long time. Momo silently munches on her sandwich as I stare Father down. We're not moving until he opens his mouth with an apology waiting.
"I don't like this Yaoyorozu. She's changing you, distracting you. And she speaks too much for her own good, she should know when to shut her tiny mouth."
I'll never forget, but I'm willing to (partially) forgive if Momo is.
The silence becomes eerie. Just before I open my mouth to break it, he finally speaks.
"I apologize for the way I acted toward you, Young Yaoyorozu. You have to understand that it is a priority to me that the Todoroki family remains strong and successful. When I thought that you were distracting him, I felt that I needed to prevent that. But recently, I am learning that my priorities can't always come before that of my children's, especially as they get older. But I had no excuse to speak to you and of you the way I did, and for that I am sorry. You don't have to forgive me."
All the bastard had to do was say two little words, I think.
But Momo smiles. "Thank you, Todoroki-sama. I forgive you and appreciate your apology as well as accept it. I know all about parents wanting success for their children."
She knows that Father's views on things and motives go farther than that, but that would be a different conversation. A complicated one that we both know she has no business in.
Suddenly, Father rises from the kitchen table and walks into the dojo, shutting the door.
"You forgive so easily," I smirk.
"Maybe it's because your father hurt me for a day when he's hurt you your whole life."
I stare at her.
"Or maybe I'm just nicer than you are." She winks and sips her tea eagerly.
"I can't stand you," I smirk, bringing tea to my lips as well.
"You're lying. You love me," Momo smiles.
"I do." I lean in and kiss her for a long time. I feel her smile in it and when I break away, she looks happier than I've ever seen her.
~Momo~
"Yes! Todomomo KamiJiro Tsukoyami Kirimina Ojitoru Bakucamie date!" Mina screams at the top of her lungs.
We're all at the arcade that Shoto and I went to on our first date. We're both wearing the cheap necklaces that Shoto bought for the both of us. The paint on my heart charm is rubbing off but I don't mind because the necklace means so much more to me.
"Yes! Yes! DIE MOTHERFUCKERS!" Bakugo yells at the game console, where his character is shooting zombies in the head.
"Calm down," says Kirishima, who is playing with him. "People are watching."
Mina and Toru are playing a dance game and Shoto is winning tickets shooting hoops. Kyoka is playing a guitar game as Kaminari cheers her on. Ojiro and Tokoyami are playing Alien Shooters and I'm trying to use the claw to grab a plushie.
"I got one! Fricking YES!" I raise the teddy bear high in the air, proclaiming my victory.
"Good job," Mina says, walking over to me.
Shots walks over as well and grabs the bear. He sniffs it and says, "It smells like you, kind of. Like roses."
Ignoring Mina's giggles, I sniff the teddy bear also. "Oh, it's scented."
Walking home with ice cream running down our fingers (we chased down an ice cream truck as we came home), Mina whips out her phone and says, "SELFIE".
Everyone poses as Mina clicks the button.
"Plus Ultra!" Kaminari screams.
"Kami, you're such an idiot," Kyoka laughs.
"Your idiot, babe." Kaminari kisses Kyoka suddenly. A sound is heard, and everyone turns to face Mina, who just took another picture.
We all laugh at her antics, while Shoto Shakes his head.
--
We're lying against the base of a tree. A single leaf glides from the top of the tree down onto my nose.
I laugh upon seeing it and so does Shoto.
"What a year it's been," I say as I brush the leaf off of the tip of my nose.
"Very eventful," Shoto agrees.
"But I'm glad for it. I got you." I reach up and run my fingers through his hair.
"Momo?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you always be with me?"
I think about his question. He's never asked this before. But the answer is easy.
"Yes, Shoto. Always. I don't want anyone else but you."
"God, I love you Momo."
"I love you, too, Shoto. So much."
"How much", he leans over me and smiles.
I lean up and slowly kiss his lips. "More than anything."
