"Have sweet dreams about me, Princess."

22:26, 14 August 2013

Justin

“Wait Brooklyn!” I followed after her as she made her way back to my friends and Kelsey.

Great Justin. You fucked up. Now she must be thinking you’re a perverted creep.

“Kelsey, I’m leaving so if you want a ride, let’s go.” Brooklyn said seriously, making Kelsey frown.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

Brooklyn glanced briefly at me then at her. “Nothing, I just have to be home before my parents arrive.” Now I wasn’t sure if she was mad or just scared. Either way, she didn’t seem to want to talk to me.

“Oh okay.” Kelsey shrugged. “See you soon Tyson.” She smiled his way and he sent her a wink.

The two girls linked their arms and started walking away after Brooklyn had said goodbye to everybody but me. Very mature. I mentally stuck my tongue out at her then realized that wasn’t very mature either.

“What’d you do man?” Tyson asked nudging me.

“I crept her out.” I admitted sighing.

“Yeah, I already noticed that.” He chuckled. “And because of that Kelsey had to leave too.” He said annoyed.

“And?” I spat, not in the mood to deal with anyone at the moment. It was like all the effects of the drug had worn off and were replaced by anger and frustration. “You like her or?”

“I don’t like her but she’s nice to talk to.” He defended himself, although I could tell he was lying.

“Since when do you like talking to girls?” I mocked him. Tyson is more of the type to fuck and chuck, just like me.

“Ugh, shut the fuck up Justin!” He smacked my arm and I smacked his back.

“Justin! Lunch is ready!” Someone shouted and I immediately looked up to the only window of my house that looks at the park. My mom was there waving at me to come. I gave her the thumbs up to let her know I was going. I just hope she didn’t see me smoking.

“I’ll see you later guys.” I said half-heartedly and digging my hands in my pockets I began to walk to my house. I guess I’ll call Brooklyn later and apologize, even though I don’t think what I did was wrong. C’mon I know she wanted to kiss me as much as I wanted to kiss her. I don’t know why but the girl attracts me. Maybe it’s her innocence or her smile or the way we’re always bickering. I hadn’t realized I had reached our apartment until I came face to face with the flaking white door. This needs painting but who cares.

I opened it with my key and entered the house, instantly feeling the smell of soup filling my nostrils. I took my jacket off and left it in the coat rack, before kicking my shoes and leaving them on the floor.

“This smells good, ma.” I said, going in the kitchen and kissing my mom’s cheek.

“And it will taste better.” She replied with a wide grin.

“Why are you so happy?” I asked pulling my eyebrows together but smiling at the fact that she was so content.

“We had a hug donation at the ‘Social Work Office’ today.” She announced, stirring the pot of soup with a wooden spoon.

“Oh, that’s good.” I said, starting to set the table.

“It was a very young girl, probably younger than you and she came with loads of bags full of clothes to give away.” She explained, taking a sip of the soup from the spoon before adding more salt to the pot. “And they weren’t just clothes. Most of them were designer clothes.”

I looked momentarily up from the plates I was setting. “She can’t be from here then.” I laughed.

“Oh no, she looked pretty rich and she didn’t dress like your friends, she’s more…classy, I guess.” She finally turned the stove off and called for Jaxon and Jazmyn to come.

If I didn’t know better, I would think she was talking about Brooklyn by the description she gave me.

“I should have given her your number. She’s the kind of girl you ought to be hanging out with and not that…” She struggled to find a word that suited Alejandra without insulting her but she couldn’t so she just shut up. She doesn’t like Alejandra too much.

“She was really pretty too.” She added, once we were all seating around the table eating our food.

“Gosh mom, it seems like you guys became friends or something.” I said jokingly.

“How did she look?” Jazmyn asked, looking up from her old phone. It was one of those cells that had a lid you had to lift to talk and the screen was like 1 inch. “Justin you need to get me a phone like yours. I can’t live one more day with this shit.” She sighed dropping it on the table.

“Jazmyn, watch your language!” My mom scolded her. “And how many times do I have to tell you that you can’t use your phone during meals?”

“Sorry.” She mumbled digging her spoon in the plate of thick soup.

“And what phone do you have Justin? Last time I checked you had the same as her.” She narrowed her eyes at me and pointed her empty spoon at my face.

“Weren’t you gonna tell us what that chick looked like?” I asked, trying not to make it obvious that I was changing the subject.

She sighed and shook her head, choosing to remain oblivious to my business.

“She was white with blonde hair and had brown eyes and a very beautiful smile.” She explained, going back to the girl topic.

“Maybe it was Brooklyn!” Jaxon exclaimed with a huge smile, showing the hole of his missing tooth.

No way. Then I thought it over again. A girl with expensive clothes in this neighborhood. Me running into Tyson and her. Her lame excuse as to why she was here. Yeah, definitely it has to be her.

“Who’s Brooklyn?” Jazmyn and Pattie, my mom, asked at the same time, directing their gazes at me.

“A friend.” I shrugged.

“It’s Tommy’s sister and she’s very nice and she always drives me and Justin home.” Jaxon chirped happily.

“And who’s Tommy?” Jazmyn asked Jaxon.

“He’s my best friend from soccer practice.” He explained. “And I think Justin likes Brooklyn because he’s always making her giggle and he kissed her on the cheek once!”

I buried my face in my hands. Okay that was embarrassing. I don’t know why I even find it embarrassing if I don’t like Brooke.

“Aw, Bieber likes a girl.” Jazmyn cooed laughing. “Look at you, you’re bluching!” She said in a mocking tone.

“I don’t like her, she’s just a friend or not even that.” I defended myself but it was helpless because they were all saying ‘yeah sure’ and awing. “And I’m not blushing.” I stated. I’m Justin Bieber, I don’t blush.

I shook my head and stood up from the table, carrying my dish to the sink.

“I can’t with you all.” I chuckled.

I left the kitchen because their laughing and comments were annoying me. I went to my room and dropped on my bed, letting out a breath I didn’t know I had been holding. I tucked my hands behind my head and looked at the ceiling.

Why hadn’t Brooklyn told me the truth? I thought the best way to find out would be calling her but I wasn’t so sure she would want to talk to me after the incident in the park. I took my phone out of my jeans pocket and searched through my contacts until I found her name. I pressed ‘call’ and put the device to my ear.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Hey, I’m busy right now but I’ll call you back as soon as possible. Beep.

She didn’t pick it up.

I left 5 minutes pass and called again.

Ring.

Ring.

Then the line went dead. She hung up?!

Well since I have nothing better to do I’ll just annoy her until she picks it up.

I called her again.

Ring.

Ring.

“What do you want?” Her voice sounded a mix of annoyed, mad and scared but at least, she answered.

“To talk.” I replied simply.

“I don’t like how that sounds.” She said. Then I realized that’s what I had told her back at the park.

“Look, Brooke I-“ I was cut off by her.

“I told you not to call me that.” She spat.

“You haven’t complained about it in a while.” I retorted knowing I had win this battle.

She sighed irritably.

“I wanted to apologize for my behavior before.” I said scratching my neck. I’m not too used to apologizing so it’s always weird to me.

“You know, you freaked me out.”

“I know and I’m sorry. I wasn’t in my right mind.” I admitted, hoping we could end with the apology soon.

“Okay, I forgive you, you just scared me.” She said and I could tell she was smiling a little.

“But I know you were enjoying it, don’t try to deny it Princess.” I replied smirking. She was probably blushing now.

“Justin.” She spoke in a warning tone.

“What would have you done if I had kissed you?” I teased her.

“I would have slapped you.” She blurted out, chuckling.

“Stop lying to yourself. You and I both know you would have kissed me back. And gladly.” I said cooly.

“Why are you always so cocky Justin? You think just because you’re hot, all the girls will be swooning over you.” She snorted.

“Oh, so I’m hot, huh?” I tried to stiff a laugh. I already knew she thought I was hot but hearing her admit it was kind of funny.

“Ugh, just shut up Justin.” She sighed and I could picture herself pulling at her hair.

“Okay.” I became serious again. “But I know the truth.” I said mysteriously.

“What truth?” She asked, confusion tinted in her voice.

“The truth about what you were doing here this morning.” I explained slowly.

She coughed awkwardly. “Um, yeah? And what is it?”

“I know you went to the ‘Social Work Office’.”

“I’m gonna kill Tyson.” She muttered.

“It wasn’t Tyson’s fault this time.” I rolled on the bed so I was lying on my stomach and rested my head on the pillow.

“How do you know then?” She questioned curiously.

“Do you remember the woman at the office?” My voice came out strange due to my position.

“Why are you talking like that?” She sniggered. “And yes, I remember her, why?”

“Never mind.” I replied to her first question. “And well she’s my mother.”

“What?” She almost screamed, making me put the phone away from my ear. “But she looked so young.” She said more calmly this time.

“She had me when she was just 18.”

“That explains why her smile was familiar.” She said slowly, like she was deep in thought.

“She liked you. You seem to have given her a good first impression.” I chuckled.

“Oh.” She giggled.

There was a pause.

“I have to go.” She finally spoke, breaking the comfortable silence.

“Oh true, you’re grounded.” I scoffed.

“Ha ha.“

“I’ll see you tomorrow?” A part of me was inexplicably hoping she would still be able to go pick her brother up so I could be able to see her.

“You’re looking forward to it, eh Bieber?” She said in a teasing tone she doesn’t usually use.

She thought she had won this time but I beat her to it. “Have sweet dreams about me Princess.” I made sure my smirk was noticeable in my voice and hung up before she could have time to reply.

Brooklyn

“It must suck not being able to go out with your boyfriend for a week.” Natasha said as we entered the classroom. We walked to our usual seats in the back, where all the ‘cool people’ seated. “Wait, he’s not your boyfriend yet so it’s not so bad.”

Someone drank a bottle of bitchiness today.

“I will still see him at school.” I shrugged. “And I have a feeling he’s gonna ask me to be official soon.” I smiled at her, half happily because I believed I was right, half fakely because she was being a bitch to me.

“I hope so. You guys look really cute together.” She grinned at me and then leaned down to take the History book out of her bag. I think that was a fake smile but I’m not sure. Note the sarcasm.

Mr. Smith entered the room, dropping his heavy books on the teacher’s desk and started writing on the board, making an unbearable squeaky sound. All the students grimaced and cover their ears with their hands. This teacher is always so annoying.

“Today we’ll be talking about The Crack of the 29…” I shut his voice off my head and started daydreaming.

As much as I tried to think about Nate, my mind kept wandering back to Justin. I don’t think that’s good. Last night, I ended up dreaming about him. And no, it was not a dirty dream if that’s what you were thinking but we did kiss indeed. And I enjoyed it and that can’t be good. I was snapped out of my thoughts by something vibrating in my pocket. I slid my phone out carefully because cell phones are forbidden in this school.

I opened the new message thinking it would be one of those cocky texts Justin likes so much but it surprised me to see it was from Nate.

Meet me outside for lunch. I have a surprise for you ;)

I immediately smiled to myself. But I have to admit that I was a bit shocked that he had used a winky face. His winky faces are more like smily normal faces while Justin winky faces are more like flirty faces. I’m stupid for even thinking about this, I know. I put my phone back inside my pocket and waited patiently until the lesson was over.

I was currently leaning on the banister of the stone stairs that led to the school entrance, waiting for Nate. Suddenly, a pair of arms slid around my waist, making me jump. I turned around to see Nate smiling down at me.

“Hi.” I said, smiling back and looking in his beautiful blue eyes.

“Hi.” He leaned down, pecking my lips. “Let’s go.” He said, grabbing my hand and leading me down the stairs to the street.

“Where are we going?” I asked excitedly.

“Mancino’s.” He replied, grinning.

“How do you know it’s one of my favorite restaurants in this city?” I pulled my eyebrows together in surprise.

“Your mom told me yesterday.” He winked. I nodded giggling like a stupid 15-year-old. He was just too cute.

Luckily, Mancino’s was pretty near our school so we just walked for about ten minutes through the busy streets of New York until we reached the restaurant. Nate held the door for me and we were soon led to our table. We made small talk until the waiter came to take our orders.

“I’ll have the risotto ai funghi.” I smiled politely at the old-looking man. He had one of those thin mustaches that curled at the ends making it hard for me not to laugh.

“I’ll have the same.” Nate said, sending me a look as if to say ‘have you seen his mustache?’.

I nodded, curling my lips inside my mouth to stop a giggle from escaping my mouth.

The waiter wrote everything down on his notepad and left after mumbling an ‘I’ll be back with your orders soon’.

“So you’re grounded?” Nate asked me, taking a sip from his glass of water.

“Yes, how did you know? Oh wait, Natasha told you, didn’t she?” I rolled my eyes just thinking about it.

He laughed. “No. Your mom did. You know, when they were at my house yesterday for the brunch my dad arranged.” He looked at me expecting me to confirm the information.

“Oh, yeah, sorry.” I sent him and apologetic smile.

“It’s okay. Natasha told me too anyway.” This time I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. “She came running to me after last period when I was looking for you. She’s a bit annoying sometimes.” He made a weird face. I guess I should be happy that he doesn’t like her because she does seem to have something for him.

“Tell me about it.” I chuckled sarcastically.

“You know, yellow looks really good on you Bells.” He complimented, making my cheeks go bright.

“Why thank you.” I giggled, looking down at my yellow woolen jumper I had combined with beige capri pants and oxford shoes.

Then the waiter came with our food and we started digging on it like the world was gonna end. “This is so good.” I moaned, cleaning my mouth with the white napkin.

Nate laughed, showing the dimples on both sides of his mouth. “Yeah, it is.”

“So, what was that surprise you had for me?” I tried to conceal the over-excitement that I was feeling.

“Oh. I think you’re gonna love it.” He said teasing me with his smirk.

Oh my god, he’s going to ask me to be his official girlfriend. Don’t faint, don’t faint, don’t faint.

“My dad got us tickets for the theater. First row.” He beamed happily.

I almost choked on the rice I was chewing and spit it all out. I felt like someone slapped me hard across the face and brought me back to reality from Dreamland.

“That’s amazing!” I faked excitement. Why me, God? What did I do wrong? I hate the theater, the opera and all those boring places my parents make me go to.  “When are we going?”

“This Friday. Your mom told me you’d be free from your punishment by then.” He reached his hand to rest it on top of mine while I took a long gulp of my water.

“I can’t wait.”

________________________________

I slammed the door of my car shut, not caring about damaging it at the moment. I made my way to the usual bench and sat down crossing my arms and my legs.

I was pissed. It’s been weeks since our first date and Nate hasn’t asked me to be his girlfriend yet. I don’t know if it’s implied that we’re official but I would love it if he let me know. I’m not going to go and ask him straight away and look like a loser. Definitely not. He’s always showing me off around school in front of his friends but he never calls me his girl, just ‘Bells’. Stupid nickname.

I hadn’t realized I was nervously tapping my foot on the concrete until I felt someone putting his hand on my knee, making me stop. I looked at the hand and immediately recognized it to be Justin’s. What? I’ve noticed his hands before because I like them. They’re big and his fingers are long and sexy and I don’t even know why I’m thinking about his hands in a sexual way. I’m going insane. Talking to myself is not normal.

“Are you okay?” Justin removed his hand from my knee and I glanced at him for the first time, noticing he was looking at me like I had five heads.

“Um, yeah, of course, why wouldn’t I be okay?” I spat and tied my hair into a ponytail before fanning myself with my hands.

“You were mumbling incoherent things and you look…um, agitated.” He said, still frowning. He didn’t seem taken aback by my rudeness.

“Well, maybe because I’m so pissed right now that I would like to rip somebody’s head off.” I said through gritted teeth.

Justin’s eyes went wide and now he did look taken aback. “Wanna talk about it?” He asked unsure of how I’d react.

I didn’t even nod, just started rambling about how I hated my life at that moment. “First of all, I’m freaking grounded for being home late once.” I waved a finger in front of his face. “Then the guy I’ve been dating for at least three weeks hasn’t asked me to be his girlfriend yet. Can you believe it?” I threw my hands in the air around me in bewilderment. “And he got me tickets for the theater. I hate the theater!” I whined like a little girl at the edge of crying.

Letting everything out actually helped me calm down and I took a deep breath, cooling myself down. I glanced back at Justin. He had been so silent all the time that I didn’t even know if he was really listening to me.

“That boy is a prick.” He said after a few moments of silence.

I burst out laughing and he shot me a toothy smile. “Sorry for taking it all out on you.” I sighed.

“It’s okay. You look sexy when you’re angry.” He chuckled. Leave to Justin to make that kind of comments.

“Shut up Justin.” I said trying to hide my red face.

“So how long are you gonna be grounded?” He asked casually.

“Apparently, until Friday.” I replied.

He nodded. “I was thinking, since I owe you a coffee, you know, we could…” he scratched his neck awkwardly.

“Is Justin Bieber nervous?” I elbowed him in the ribs softly while smirking.

He snorted. “Of course not. You wanna hang out on Saturday?” He suggested much more confidently.

I pretended to think about it tapping my chin with my finger, causing Justin to roll his eyes. “Sure.” I finally said. “Where are you gonna take me?”

“Surprise, surprise.” He whispered in a sexy teasing voice.
