"Trouble is his second name."

22:20, 14 August 2013

Brooklyn

“Ryan for God’s sake! Are you gonna tell me for the last goddamn time?!” I screamed following Ryan as he paced around the house, breathing heavily and running his hands through his dark brown hair repeatedly.

During the whole 30 minutes ride home Ryan has been quite and me here, have been dying to know why he knows Justin and what happened between them for him to look so frustrated.

I inwardly groaned as he made his way to his room and slammed the door shut.

“Ryan, tell me! I want to know! I deserve to know!” I yelled as my fist hit his door with all my strength.

“Brooklyn go away! I can’t tell you.” He yelled back from the other side of the door.

“Ugggh.” I stomped my foot on the floor like a little girl having a tantrum. I hate my brother. Now how am I going to find out? It’s not like I can go and ask Justin.

I went to my room and plopped down on my bed, taking my phone and signing on Twitter.

@BellaBrooke: Ugh. I HATE MY BROTHER.

Childish I know but I hope Ryan sees it. Seconds later, I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in!” I shouted, sitting on my bed with my legs crossed and leaving my white iPhone on my desk.

Ryan’s head popped trough the crack of the door making me laugh. He left himself in and took a seat at the foot of my bed. He looked much calmer now so I made a mental note to not anger him.

“Look, Brooke, I really want to tell you what happened but I can’t so you have to trust me. Stay away from that boy. Trouble is his second name.” He said sincerely.

“But why can’t you tell me?” I whined squeezing one of my cushions between my arms. I didn’t doubt Justin was the typical badass boy, he totally had the appearance but what can he have done that it’s so bad?

“Because it’s dangerous and I don’t want to put you in danger.” What an explanation…

“How would I be in danger? I promise I won’t tell anyone.” I put on my puppy face, pouting my bottom lip.

“It’s not about that Brooklyn. But you’re better off being oblivious. Don’t go near that guy okay? You have to promise me.” He fixed his gaze on me but I found myself unable to promise that. Justin intrigued me and I wanted to know more about his mysterious life. Plus I would have to see him quite regularly when I went to pick Tommy from soccer.

“I-I promise.” I mumbled, looking down at my crossed fingers. Yeah, I lied to my brother and I don’t feel good about it but I can’t promise something I can’t keep.

“Good.” He neared me and kissed my forehead sweetly, like he hadn’t done in years. It actually felt good. “I love you sis.”

“Love you too.” I smiled and he closed the door behind him.

“I’m glad you haven’t been back there Bella. I thought my best friend had gone crazy.” Natasha giggled while she tried to juggle with all the shopping bags clinging from her arms.

We had been shopping all afternoon and while I had only bought a pair of boots and a jacket, Natasha had most likely burnt her credit card. Not that it matters because her family is filthy rich so spending $2500 on designer clothes on just one day wasn’t exactly something rare for her.

I decided to change the subject because I was getting pretty sick of everyone telling me not to go to the Bronx. Don’t you know that when you tell a teenager not to do something they tend to do it? Well be careful. I’m not planning on going back for now but who knows if later in my life.

“So you wanna hear about me and Nate?” I asked and I could feel myself smiling like a fool just by thinking about him.

Her expression changed drastically to a frown but was quickly replaced by a fake smile. “Sure.”

“Well, he took me on a date the other day and we had a lot of fun. He was such a gentleman.” I sighed contently. “And guess what?” I said stopping and turning to face her.

“What?” He kept on her fake smile but I continued anyway.

“He kissed me!” I squealed.

“Wait, are we talking about Nate Hallbert?” She asked. I could sense a bit of annoyance in her voice but I ignored it.

I nodded. The smile not vanishing from my face one bit.

“Why didn’t you tell me before?” She squealed with me.

“Well I couldn’t find the right moment.” When you’d stop talking about yourself so I could talk about me. Yeah that’s the bad thing about Natasha. She can spend hours and hours talking about herself and not even asking how you are.

“I’m so happy for you! Are you dating already?” She asked like she didn’t mind but I know she did. The reason it’s unknown because she never showed much interest in Nate so there’s no way she can be jealous.

“I think it’s early to call it an item but…” I made a pause. “We’re going on the right track.” I beamed.

“Great!”

One ring.

Two rings.

Three rings.

“Bella!” Kelsey’s voice echoed through the phone.

“Hi Kels! I was wondering if you’d like to come to Tommy’s first soccer game.” I said bitting my lip while I waited for her answer.

“Why would I want to go? I mean, I love spending time with you but seeing seven-year-olds running behind a ball isn’t my favorite hobby.”

I chuckled. “Justin will be there.”

“Justin as in Gorgeous Boy?!” She screamed making me flinch and take the phone away from my ear.

“The same.” I smirked, knowing I got her.

“Okay you can pick me up…whenever it is.” She said excitedly. I could almost see her jumping around her room.

“I’ll be at your house in an hour.” With that I hung up and went to get ready.

Let’s see. What do you wear in these occasions? I’m gonna be seating in a dirty bench while people around are eating and drinking which means I could get food thrown at me sometime. But there could be cute boys there. Not that I’m thinking about Justin right now.

I put on a pair of dark denim shorts and a 3/4-sleeved red t-shirt because that’s Tommy’s team color. I took my black flats and tied my hair into a high ponytail. After I did my makeup I took my car keys and my phone and threw them in my black purse.

“Mom, I’m going to pick Kelsey, I’ll see you at the match.” I shouted to my mom who nodded from the kitchen.

“Okay dear, take care!” She shouted back.

“Do you see my parents and my brothers?” I asked Kelsey as I stood on my tiptoes trying to find my family in the sea of people that were already seating on the stands. To be just a kid’s match there were a lot of people.

“Aren’t they there?” She pointed to a group of people that were seating on the third row.

“Oh yeah.” I nodded and dragged her to where they were.

“Hi girls, we got you these two seats.” My dad greeted us.

“Thanks Mr. Reed.” Kelsey said politely.

“How many times do I have to tell you to call me Matt?” My dad said jokingly. My parents love Kelsey and they’ve known her since we were in kindergarten so pretty much all my life. But she feels intimidated by my dad because he’s a policeman and keeps calling him Mr. Reed.

“Sorry, Matt.”  Kelsey apologized with a small smile.

We all laughed at it and sat on the bench which, as I had predicted, was dirty.

“Damn, my shorts are gonna get filthy.” Kelsey fidgeted in her seat, trying to find a position in which her clothes wouldn’t get stained.

“How can you wear something white to a place like this? You silly Billy.” I mocked her, hitting her arm playfully.

“Shut up.” She hit me back. “And I had to look good for Justin.” She wiggled her eyebrows.

“Shhh.” I put my hand over her mouth. “Don’t say his name, my brother is there!”

“And that matters because…” She trailed off when I put my hand back in my lap.

“It’s a long story, I’ll tell you later. Just call him by his nickname.” I explained and she nodded but still looked eager to hear the story.

“Speaking of Gorgeous Boy, where’s him?” She questioned making me search around the crowd for him. A couple of seats to our left and on the first row was Justin wearing a blue cap with another boy. His face was familiar, maybe he was one of the guys that were with Justin the first time I saw him. I wonder if his parents had come to see Jaxon too but next to him there were just two girls around 15 giggling.

“It’s that guy with the blue cap.” I pointed to him whispering so my family wouldn’t hear.

Suddenly I felt Kelsey’s hand gripping on my thigh and digging her nails on my flesh.

“Ow, ow, Kels! What the hell?” I whispered/yelled trying to pry her hand apart.

“Oh my god! Sorry Bells but have you seen him? He’s a sex god!” She exclaimed with wide eyes, making me cover her mouth once again. I looked around for people who could possibly had heard us but found everyone focused on the game that had just started.

“I know but shut up, will you?” I scolded her. I looked back at the game and saw Tommy waving at me. I waved back and smiled giving him a thumbs-up. My eyes focused involuntarily on Justin again and wondered if he was searching for me too but it seemed like he was just talking with his friend. I felt stupid.

Then Kelsey’s hand was squeezing my thigh again. “Isabella. His friend is black.” She gulped hard. I laughed at her face.

“Yeah. He is.” I nodded amused.

“Okay.” She let go of my thigh and put her hands on her lap with a blank face.

We stayed silent for a few minutes, just watching the game. It was more fun than I thought and the kids were super cute. Tommy waved in our direction a couple of times and my parents cheered embarrassingly.  I spotted Jaxon and he waved at me too. Justin must have seen his gesture because he turned his head in my direction and saw me. He flashed his infamous smirk and a wink, making me slightly blush.

“He looked at you.”Kelsey whispered, elbowing me softly.

“I know.” I said nonchalantly, trying to hide a smile.

Justin turned around to talk to his friend again and then they both looked back. The friend sent us a flirtatious wink too earning a chuckle from Justin and making Kelsey turn red.

“Oh my god! Have you-“

I cut her off. “Yes, Kels, his friend winked at you and he’s smoking hot, I know.” I know my friend so well.

“Yes!” She squaled.

The rest of the match consisted mostly of Justin and his friend turning around and whispering things and Kelsey squealing like a little girl. Our team won and they sat some tables with food and drinks to celebrate.

“Brooklyn we won!” Tommy came screaming cheerfully towards me after he had changed his clothes.

“Yeah I knew you’d win buddy!” I cheered picking him up. He climbed off me and went to Kelsey.

“Hi Kelsey!” He greeted her and hugged her legs.

“I can’t get used to your family calling you Brooklyn…” She said letting go of Tommy who ran away with his friends.

“Why don’t you call me Brooklyn too? I like it better than Bella.” I shrugged.

“I’ll try, Brooklyn.” She said, pronouncing my name weirdly.

From the corner of my eye I caught Jaxon running towards Justin like Tommy had just done a minute before. I smiled at the image of the two brothers and Justin’s friend standing there stuffing food in his mouth like a pig.

“Your crush is a pig.” I told Kelsey who looked in their direction.

“What? He’s sexy when he’s eating!”

“Okay.” I craked up. “He is spitting pieces of bread from his mouth while talking. That’s so sexy.”

“Shut up.” She muttered.

“Aw don’t get mad. Let’s talk with them.” For a moment I forgot that I wasn’t supposed to go near Justin, at least not when my brother was here. “Just casually pretend you’re picking something to eat.” I dragged her by her hand to the table.

“You couldn’t wait to see me, aye?” Justin’s raspy voice rang trough my ears.

“What? I just came to eat.” I said picking the first thing I found and bringing it to my mouth. I regretted it instantly when the taste of sour mayonnaise filled my mouth.

He laughed at my face and I looked for some place where I could spit out the disgusting food. There was no bin in sight so I had to swallow it.

“Sure. By the way, who’s your friend?” He asked pointing to Kelsey.

“This is Kelsey.” I said grabbing her by her shoulders. “Kelsey this is Justin.”

“We can stop calling him Gorgeous Boy now?” She whispered in my ear. I elbowed her hard. God please tell me Justin didn’t hear.

“Aw how sweet, you have a nickname for me Brooke.” Great. Justin broke into fits of laughter and I felt all my blood rushing to my face. I’m so gonna kill Kelsey. He was amused watching how I got redder and redder, all my body heating up.

“Shut up.” I smacked his arm but I’m sure I hurt my fist more than him because he was stone hard.

He chuckled.

“I like him better than Nate.” Well, will you stop embarrassing me Kelsey?

“Who’s Nate?” Justin asked curious.

“Oh, it’s her boyfriend.” She replied.

Justin’s amusement grew.

“He’s not my boyfriend.” I tried to defend myself but it was no use.

“yeah, yeah.”They both spoke at the same time.

Then Justin nudged his friend to come. “Tyson these are Brooklyn and Kelsey.”

“You’re hot to be white.” He sent Kelsey a wink and she blushed. Oh my god, is this really happening?

They started talking, which left me alone with Justin.

“So I’m gorgeous, huh?” I sent him a glare. “Don’t try to deny it princess.” He winked. What’s with these boys and winking?

“Don’t flatter yourself.” I sneered but it was hard to keep my eyes from him because he was actually gorgeous.

He chuckled and got something from his pocket. It took me some time to realize that it was a little bag of weed and filters to make a joint.

“W-what are you doing?” I asked astonished.

“What do you think?”He lifted his head to look at me. “You want one?”

“Are you crazy? We’re surrounded by kids and parents and…of course I don’t want!” I threw my arms in the air for emphasis.

He just laughed again. I’m getting sick of his laughter, if it wasn’t so cute…Damn.

“You’re such a goody-goody.” He shook his head, sliding his tongue across the paper to close the joint. I couldn’t help but stare at how sexy he looked in spite of what he was doing.

“I don’t do drugs.” I stated, looking away. “And stop laughing.”

“You’re too amusing princess.” He said keeping the joint inside his pocket again. At least he wasn’t gonna smoke it here.

“Is that your new nickname for me or?” I folded my arms across my chest. I didn’t exactly dislike it to be honest.

“I thought after you took your time to make one for me I should do the same.” I snorted. He’s not gonna let it go. “And princess suits you since you’re such a goody rich girl.”

“Whatever.”

“Brooklyn, why is your brother sending daggers at us with his eyes?” Kelsey stopped talking to Tyson and turned to me. She actually called me Brooklyn, how cute.

I looked at my brother and indeed he was looking at me with an angry expression. “We have to go.” I grabbed Kelsey and walked towards my family without another word to the boys. However, before we were too far I heard Tyson saying. “Dude, she’s Reed’s sister?”

He knows my brother too? This is getting way too confusing.

“You need to explain all of this, seriously.”

“I have to understand it myself first.” I told Kelsey. As soon as we were next to my brother I froze in fear. He was almost fuming.

“What the fuck did I tell you about Bieber?”
