I woke up expecting Veronica to be near me, but I saw she was not. Cautiously I stood up. Just then I heard a soft sound- like leaves were being stepped on. I looked out the window that was opened the reason for this was quite obvious now. She ran away, I could see a silhouette in the distance. I jumped out of the window, landing onto the ground in a crouched position. I balanced pushing myself up. I wiped the mud off my coat and ran after her. 

I followed her to her house I went into the shed in her backyard, then finding a ladder in the corner amongst other tools. I stepped over the lawn mower and some boxes filled with God knows what. I lifted the ladders and stepped back over everything. I knew exactly which window led to her room so I placed them down and climbed up. Knock Knock. She most likely was in there and knew it was me. 1... 2... 3... I smashed the window with my hand, then making it wide enough to get through.

 My feet landed on the floor with my right one hitting the ground first. I looked around.

"Veronica," I said, "I know you're here somewhere."
