Seven
07:57, 12 January 2019Before I knew it, it had rolled around to four thirty, and it was time to meet Henry on Neibolt street.
I rode my bike home and walked over there. I spotted Henry standing with his back facing me, I took a deep breath and walked over to him.
"Hey, Henry," I greeted.
Henry turned around.
"It's been ages," I said.
I'm not afraid of him, so I'm going to say what I want.
"H-hey," Henry said.
"So why did you wanna meet here?" I asked.
"I thought we needed to talk," Henry said, sitting down on the curb. He patted the ground next to him inviting me to sit down next to him, which I did.
"So what did you wanna talk about?" I asked.
"Us," Henry said.
I knew what he wanted. What he wanted was for us to be friends again. But after everything he's done, I wasn't gonna make it easy for him.
"What about us?" I asked.
"I wanted to apologize for everything that I've done," Henry said.
"What are you apologizing for exactly?" I asked.
"You aren't gonna let up, are you?" Henry asked.
"No," I said.
"Well, still the same stubborn Prim I knew," Henry laughed.
I glared at him, trying not to smile.
"I know you wanna smile," Henry said.
I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever," I scoffed.
Henry laughed, then he took a deep breath and changed into a more serious tone.
"Primrose, we've been through a lot in the past. I mean we were friends since we were really young till we were like thirteen, and that was no accident. I mean we were always there for each other through everything we went through, and then I fucked up. I started hanging with Patrick, Belch, and Vic. And that's when I started neglecting you, and you had no one," said Henry.
"When you ditched me, my mum left, and I was living on the fucking street," I said.
"It was really bad timing, I guess," Henry said. "Us stopping being friends and then you losing your mum and living on the street."
I nodded.
"I wouldn't have had anyone if you had ditched me. I let those guys hurt you and I didn't do anything about it, I mean I wanted to. But lately, I've been telling them to lay off. And I know you noticed that. Then you made those new friends, those losers. And when I say that I mean they call themselves that, not that they are losers. And I mean part of that is my dad talking, he puts so much pressure on me to live with hatred for everyone, like him. I mean only you know the real me, and I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. If Patrick, Belch or Vic saw me cry they'd laugh," Henry said. "So, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am."
He was sobbing a bit after he finished his little speech.
"Henry," I said. "I can forgive you."
"Really?" He asked. "What do you mean you can?"
"I mean we are cool now, but it will take time for me to actually forgive you," I said.
"Do you think things could go back to the way they were?" Henry asked.
"Yes," I answered. "But we'll need to start hanging out again for that," I told him.
Henry smiled. "We definitely should."
"How about now?" I asked.
"Sure," Henry said, standing up.
I got up too and Henry and I started walking.
"So how are things with your Dad?" Henry asked me.
"The same,"I said quickly.
"Rough, huh?" Henry questioned.
I nodded.
"How about your brother? You guys were always pretty close," Henry asked me.
"Yeah, we are. Things with him are fine. What about you and your Dad?" I asked.
"The same," he said. "Nothing has really changed with me since we stopped being friends."
"You know Prim, I really missed you. A whole lot," Henry said to me.
"So did I," I told him.
"Do you wanna go see a movie?" Henry asked.
I nodded and we headed to the cinema.
"Two tickets for Batman please," I said.
"Here ya go," said the man working at the concession stand. "Two tickets for the happy couple."
"we aren't a couple," I said as if he was stupid for even suggesting it.
But was he?
"Well, then you should be. You two would be a good couple," the guy said.
"You don't even know us," said Henry with a small laugh.
"You look good together. And I can just tell from how you are around each other," he said.
"What?" Henry asked.
"You'll figure it out soon enough," the man, shrugging and then giving Henry a smirk.
Henry pulled me away and into the cinema.
We went into the movie and sat at the very back.
"Remember when we used to come here really late at night and see horror movies?" Henry asked.
"Yeah, and we'd be the only people here," I said.
"Looks like there's no one else here now," Henry noticed.
"That's weird," Henry said, seeing it was about five o'clock on a Friday night.
We sat there enjoying the movie, but a sex scene came on and it was kinda awkward, seeing we were sitting right next to each other and we were the only people there.
I sat awkwardly and noticed that Henry's eyes were glued to the screen. I laughed quietly.
"What?" Asked Henry defensively.
"Nothing," I laughed.
Henry playfully rolled his eyes and got out of his seat.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Somewhere where I can't be distracted by you!" Henry said.
"What?" I said.
Henry was choking with laughter. "Some of us are trying to enjoy this movie!"
"Some of us?" I questioned. "But we're the only people here!"
Henry was still laughing, and he knew he was just messing with me.
"So what do you think of the movie?" Henry asked when the sex scene finished.
I decided that I was gonna mess with him too. I didn't answer his question.
"Prim?" He called.
I remained silent and pretended I was asleep.
"Prim? Why aren't you answering me?" He called.
I heard him get up and out of his seat and walk over to me.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked as he put his hand on my stomach to see if I was breathing.
What an idiot, he should know it's the pulse. I was smart enough to hold my breath when he did that so my stomach didn't move and he would think I wasn't breathing.
"PRIM! ARE YOU OKAY HELP! SOMEONE CALL NINE ONE ONE!" He called.
"Shush!" I said.
"What the fuck, you scared me so bad," Henry laughed.
I flashed a smile at him and he gave me one back.
And I just knew that things would be back to the way they were in no time.
