Chapter 39

09:46, 15 September 2025

Jin was on the flight with the members and staff, heading to their overseas interview schedules. The boys were buzzing with nervous excitement, while Jin acted like the calm parent, making sure no one forgot their passports or headphones.

"Hyung, can I sit by the window?" Taehyung begged, tugging Jin's sleeve.

"You already sat by the window last time," Jimin complained, pouting.

Jin sighed, giving in immediately. "Fine. Taehyung, you can take the window. But Jimin, you sit beside me, okay? That way I can keep an eye on you both."

"Hyung, you're too soft," Jungkook muttered with a tiny smile, secretly enjoying the chaos.

On the flight, Jin handed out snacks like a doting mom, scolding Jimin for trying to eat all the gummies at once and telling Taehyung to stop kicking the seat in front of him. Jungkook quietly leaned against Jin's shoulder halfway through, pretending he was just tired, but Jin noticed the way he didn't move away even after waking up.

At the hotel, the boys crashed in their rooms on the second floor while Jin stayed downstairs. Before bed, he gathered them all with the interview scripts, sitting cross-legged on the floor like their teacher.

"Remember," Jin explained, tapping the paper, "don't let Taehyung talk more."

"Why not?" Taehyung asked, eyes wide.

"Because we don't want to recreate your coke joke anymore," Jin deadpanned, making all of them burst out laughing.By the end of the night, the boys were relaxed and ready, Jin's calmness easing their nerves.

The next day was busy-two interviews and a live performance-but the members shined. Proud and relieved, Jin clapped the loudest when they came off stage, handing out water bottles and patting their backs.

As the boys returned to the hotel to rest for their early morning flight, Jin slipped away to a nearby shopping mall. It had been too long since he spoiled Namjoon with a surprise. He wandered from store to store, finally picking out a set of matching couple shirts-soft, cute, and perfect for the vacation Jin had secretly booked at the end of next month. He added a few books to his basket too, knowing Namjoon would get lost in them happily.

The next day, their flight landed back in Seoul. The members headed to their dorm, while Jin returned home, arms already aching for Namjoon.

It was 3 p.m., the house too quiet. Namjoon's shift ended at 7, which meant Jin had four long hours to wait.

He distracted himself by folding laundry, checking the boys' practice schedules, and even trying on the couple shirts in front of the mirror, giggling to himself as he imagined Namjoon's embarrassed reaction.

Finally, the front door opened, and Jin sprinted over, launching himself into Namjoon's arms.

"Hyung," Namjoon laughed, holding him awkwardly, "how many times should I tell you not to hug me the moment I come back from the hospital?"

"Sorryyy, Namjoon-ah... but I've been waiting all day. You expect me to just wave at you politely like a neighbor?" Jin pouted dramatically, kissing his dimple before Namjoon could escape upstairs.

"I will shower first," Namjoon chuckled, walking up while Jin trailed behind like a puppy.

They had dinner together, and Jin could barely hide his excitement as he blurted, "Namjoonaaa, I booked a one-week resort trip at the end of next month. Make sure to free your schedule."

Namjoon looked up, chopsticks paused mid-air. "One week? Hyung... really?"

"Yes!" Jin beamed. "You're mine for seven whole days. No patients, no surgeries, just me. Don't even think of sneaking a stethoscope into your bag."

Namjoon chuckled, eyes softening. "Don't worry. I'll plan everything around it. I'm excited too."

After dinner, Namjoon helped clear the table while Jin washed the dishes. At some point, Namjoon's arms snaked around his waist from behind, and he rested his chin on Jin's shoulder.

"Doctor Kim, are you trying to distract your manager-hyung from finishing his chores?" Jin teased, smiling as Namjoon just hummed against his neck.

When the last plate was done, Jin turned around and planted kisses all over Namjoon's face, making him laugh and squirm.

"Hyung! Enough-"

"Nope," Jin grinned, kissing his cheek, his nose, his forehead. "My Joonie is too cute. I need at least ten kisses a day to survive."

Then came the real kiss-deeper, hotter, with Jin's hands roaming under Namjoon's shirt. The air thickened, their breathing rough. Namjoon broke away with effort, cheeks flushed.

"Hyung... that's enough for tonight," he whispered.

"Namjoon, please..." Jin whined, lips chasing his.

Namjoon gently covered Jin's mouth with his palm, eyes dark but steady. "Don't even start, hyung. The way you're kissing me right now-I know exactly where this will end. And I have surgery tomorrow. I don't think either of us wants me showing up limping into the operating room."

Jin raised an eyebrow, smirking as he pulled Namjoon's hand away. "Oh? And what makes you so sure you'd be the one limping? You're underestimating me, Joon-ah."

Namjoon froze for a second before snapping back, flustered but firm. "Hyung, don't even try it. You know I want to, but if we start now, we'll both be wrecked till morning."

That did it-Jin burst into laughter, clutching his stomach while Namjoon's ears turned red.

"You're too cute when you're trying to sound strict," Jin teased, leaning in closer. "Fine, fine, you win this round. But don't forget-if I really wanted to, neither of us would be getting any sleep tonight."

Namjoon's lips curved into a small, shy smile as he kissed Jin again-quick, but full of warmth. "I'm sorry, hyung. I'll make it up to you."

Jin's eyes sparkled mischievously. "Then at least carry me to bed. That's non-negotiable."

Namjoon groaned but didn't hesitate-he swept Jin off the floor effortlessly. Jin laughed the whole way upstairs, kicking his feet playfully, his head tucked against Namjoon's neck. "See? You're already under my control, doctor," Jin whispered, and Namjoon only tightened his grip, smiling despite himself.
