Chapter 4✔

23:34, 2 October 2021

Bucky and I laid in bed, legs tangled together. His arm was wrapped around me as I played with his metal hand.

"Does it ever hurt?" I asked in a whisper. I looked over at him as I noticed he was staring at me. I couldn't tell if he thought I was crazy or if he was just confused. "Like phantom pains?" I clarified.

"Sometimes. Most of the time I forget its not my real arm." I hummed at his response and held his hand, playing with his fingers before he grabbed my hand, examining my wrist. "What's that from?" He asked, his fingers tracing over my long scar. I swallowed hard and sighed.

"I was in a car accident when I was 13." I told him. He turned my wrist around, staring at the scar intensely. Like he was analyzing it.

"That's not a scar from a car accident." He told me, sitting up. I sat up with him.

"What do you mean? Yes it is." I told him, pulling my wrist from his grip.

"No it's not. It looks like someone cut your wrist open with a knife on purpose." I looked at him as I stood up. I looked down at the scar and traced it. The long faded white line was still a bump in my skin. It was pretty straight, was he right? Did someone cut me? No. I was in an accident.

"No. I was with my mom and she drove into an electric fence." I said, my eyes jerking around, trying to place the images of the wreck in my head. The pictures of us driving and the light from the fence sparking flew past my eyes as it flashed, a man was there now. The one from my nightmare. Who was he? He wasn't there before. Was he? I can't remember.. Why can't I remember? The whole week was a black memory in my mind. I jumped as a hand made contact with my shoulder.

"El... I'm sorry, I didn't mea-"

"I think you should go." I said firmly. My voice a bit shaky from the mental image of my mother dying.

Bucky frowned at me, lifting his hand off my shoulder slowly and nodding. "Okay." He whispered. He walked over and grabbed his clothes, dressing quickly and walking to the bedroom door, pausing. "I am sorry.." He whispered as he left my room. I waited until I heard the front door shut. I took in a shaky breath as I pulled out my phone, dialing as I went to my closet and grabbed a bag. I had to get out of here. Get away for a bit. Get away from them. From him.

"Ellaaaa! Where you at girl?" I heard Lexi slur. Was she drinking already? I looked over to the clock to see Bucky had been here for a while, it was already five in the evening.

"Hey, Lex. I'm going on a business trip for a few days. Can you check my mail for me for a bit?" I asked as I started grabbing random articles of clothing. I was heading up state to get away. And maybe to also get the Avengers away from me.

"Where are you going?" She asked, even though I don't think she really cared. Lexi was the more uncaring between her and Ginny. That's why I called her instead. Ginny would be rushing over to stop me from running and drilling me on what happened.

"Just upstate for a bit. I'll be back, I promise." I said as I zipped my bag closed and grabbed my leather jacket, tossing it on and slinging the bag onto my shoulder.

"Yeah- I was actually needing a place to stay for a bit, my place is going through some repairs from some psycho." I paused at her words.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, did I forget to tell you? Some psycho broke in the other night and completely wrecked my house. They didn't take anything so I guess that's a plus. But my place is destroyed. Like the walls were punched or something." Someone was looking for me. Lexi doesn't have enemies. Who else would wreck her place. "But, I do work for the newspaper so maybe I ticked someone off? Ugh-" I could almost feel her eyes rolling as she spoke. I had all of Lexi's newspaper clippings, I haven't seen anything that would cause someone to ransack her place.

"Listen, I'll have someone look into it, okay? Just have Ginny stay with you at my place." I told her.

"Yeah, Okay. Talk later babes!" She hung up before I said anything else.

So before I could run, like I always do. I needed to make some arrangements. I walked over to my laptop, hooking my phone to it as I pulled up a coded page. I needed a number to reach and to get that I had to break into some high security shit. Luckily, I was decently smart when it came to computers. I used to watch Lexi hack into systems when she was working. That was one thing that would shock you about her. She seems stupid but in reality she was tech smart. That's how she was so good at her job. Able to hack into someone's system to get the information she needed. But she stays safe by making sure it's nothing too big she writes about. She could honestly work for the police if she wanted to.

It only took me about thirty minutes before some numbers loaded onto my phone from my laptop. Unplugging it and dialing the one I needed I waited as it rang.

"Who is this?" I heard him ask.

"Tony, I need a favor." I said with a sigh.

"Cinderella? How did you get my number??" I rolled my eyes at his priorities.

"I hacked your system, it's nothing. Listen-"

"What?! It's nothin- How the hell did you do that??"

"Tony! I need a favor. Someone is after me, my sisters are staying at my apartment, the one you have the address of. Can you all keep an eye on them? Secretly?" I asked quickly, trying to make sure he wouldn't interrupt me again. I heard some typing on his end, probably looking into my information.

"Sure can. Who is after you? You know we can help you, right? Our offer still stan-"

"I'm fine. I'm skipping town for a bit. Somethings came up and I need out for a bit. Just, keep my sisters safe would ya?" I closed my laptop as I walked to the door to leave.

"Yeah, I'll have Nat and Clint on it. They are good at staying hidden. Where are you running to?"

"Don't worry about it." I told him and hung up, I knew he was placing a tracker on my phone, which was why he kept questioning me. I'm not an idiot. I placed my phone on the desk and left the apartment.

As I was walking, since I didn't have a car for myself since it was too easy to trace back to me, I felt like someone was following me. Lifting my hood up, I glanced in the reflection of a window. A man had his eyes on me as he walked. I had only been walking for a few minutes so they probably had my apartment bugged. I'm sure Tony will take care of that for me. From what I knew, Natasha and Clint are really excellent at discovering little bugs.

I reached into my pocket and pulled a smoke out, using my fancy little pumpkin carriage to light it, I glanced up. Cameras. I smirked at it , waving the lighter at it as I ducked into an alleyway. Puffing off of the cigarette as I saw the camera could see down here. Time to play the Cinderella part. I pressed my lips to the lighter before dropping it on the ground discreetly. Hopefully, someone I know will find it.

I pulled my hood down looking around before looking right at the camera. Using my hands with the smoke hanging from my mouth, I spelled out HYDRA with sign language. Confused? Ginny had me learn with her. Since she is a nurse it was something she thought would be useful for patients who couldn't understand her. She's really good at her job.

I leaned against the wall as I heard someone come in the ally. Taking my cigarette out and letting the smoke blow out, I looked up. The man I saw following me smirked at me as he walked up to me.

"You are a tough girl to find." He spoke, his voice was raspy, almost like he took a dick too deep earlier. I let out a dry laugh as I pull my gun from my waistband. A gun was already pointed at me, ready to fire at me if I moved. I didn't recognize him at all. Brown short hair and a few scars on his face. But most of Hydra agents had scars anymore it seemed.

"Sorry, do I know you?" I asked, knocking the smirk off his face.

"Hydra, baby. But you know that. For some reason they want the famous Cinderella Renegade." His eyes moved down my body and back up. "Though I don't see what makes you so special." I grinned at him, faking some innocence.

"Yeah? Well, I heard a-"

"You fool!" Someone came up and slapped duct tape over my mouth as they grabbed my arms, restraining me from behind. "Her power is with her voice!" I fought against the guy holding me as the man in front of us stood dumbfounded. This was the second time now that someone had snuck up on me.

"How was I supposed to know?" The guy asked, insulted at the man who held me tightly.

"It was in the mission file!" He snapped at him as he hit the back of my neck with a taser, the darkness swallowing up my sight within seconds as the voices died down with it.

--------

I groaned as I came to, my head was killing me, but so was my mouth. Opening my eyes slowly, black specks danced around in my line of sight as my eyes tried to focus. I was in a cement room, maybe a basement or a lab of some sort?

"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty. Sleep well, I hope." A man said as he entered the room, I looked up at him with a glare as I tried to open my mouth to speak. Pain surged through my mouth as I tried, making me stop instantly and try to move my hands which were bound down at my sides. "Ah, Yeah I wouldn't try to speak. Couldn't have you using your little power on me, could we? It was a good thing Mary in accounting is a great seamstress." My eyes widened at his words. They sewed my mouth shut?

I looked up at him as he stood in front of me. "Don't worry, I won't be needing you to speak anyway. You show great potential for our new serums to be tested on. You just need to live through it." He told me as he grabbed my chin and brought his face closer to me. "Such a shame, such a pretty thing." He whispered as he stroked my arm. The tingles of disgust rushing through me. I wish I could speak right now. Get him to remove his nasty hands from me. He released my chin as he turned to grab a syringe full of some kind of green substance. "Good Luck." He muttered as he injected it into my arm. I cringed at the feeling of the liquid spreading in my veins, it was cold at first but then turned into a lava like liquid. I screamed in my mouth at the pain. It felt like I was burning from the inside out.

Tears left my eyes in rivers as I tried to calm down, but then my eyes rolled back and my body started to jerk around against the restraints. Sweat leaking out of my skin like I was sitting in a sauna. I didn't even know if the man was still there. My vision blurred as my body settled back down.

"Sleep, we'll try more later." I heard the man speak. I tried to fight the sleep, but the darkness took over with too much force.
