~5~ He Peng meets Wang Yibo

Since I still had my personal things down at my workplace, I had to go back there first to get my things. I hope that this will go without any incidents.

I am even allowed to use the private elevator of the CEOs. Or rather, I should use this one. I just don't quite understand what's different about this one compared to the other elevators? Except the other elevators are always full. Maybe that's why they have their own elevator.

Unnoticed by all the other employees on this floor, I leave the elevator and slowly walk to my desk. Gu and Wu Jiacheng look at me with big eyes and immediately want to know where I have been all this time.

"Ah, I was upstairs with the CEOs, they had a meeting with Koreans, and I helped with the translation." I explained. It was only half the truth, but they don't have to know everything.

"And what are the CEOs like? Is it true what they all say about them?" Wu Jiacheng asked me.

"Oh, well, they're very nice and really professional. As you would expect from a CEO."

"You know, you're one of a handful of people who were lucky enough to meet them?" Asked Gu Jiacheng.

"Do you really see them so rarely?"

"Yes. So at least on this floor. We've been here for two years, and in those two years, I saw Wang Hao for the first time today. I've never seen the other two." Explain Wu Jiacheng to me.

I never thought it could be like that. They seem like people who like talking to their employees. They're very nice.

But since I am only there to get my personal belongings, I go to my desk under the air conditioner and start packing everything into a box. Luckily it is not so much and so it all goes quickly.

But of course my luck didn't hold me and He Peng came out of his office, stared at me and immediately started his hate speech again. "Well did you have yourself a good cry at the Wang's? Did you have a good cry for pity? Like, poor gay man whose husband died and whose death I can't get over is bullied by his superior?"

" Excuse me?" I ask frozen.

"You heard me right. But apparently, your pity act didn't work and they fired you. Well, then, we finally got an employee who's good for something and doesn't just think about his dead husband."

"What I think about is my business."

"He's dead, deal with it. I wouldn't be surprised if he got fed up with you and killed himself because of it. Who would put up with someone like you for much longer?"

"He died because he bled to death inside, after a serious accident. He did not commit suicide. He would never do that."

"Yeah, right, no one' s gonna believe you. You've got a good excuse for that. Sure, so you'd get pity everywhere. It would be different if everyone knew he committed suicide, wouldn't it?"

"Hey Peng!" Suddenly someone screamed very loudly. I turned around and saw Wang Yibo staring hatefully at He Peng.

"Oh, sir, I didn't see you at all. Good day." Said He Peng shit friendly and pretended nothing happened.

Wang Yibo rushed forward to He Peng and grabbed him by the collar. "One more wrong word about Xiao Zhan or his late husband and I'll forget my good manners and show you my unfriendly side. I never could stand you and I've been waiting for a long time for a chance to punch you in the face."

"Sir, I'm just saying what everybody's thinking." He Peng replied stutteringly.

"None of us think so!" Wu Jiacheng called to him. "You've been bullying Zhan since his first day here. And none of us have ever thought badly of him."

"You can hear it He Peng. Only you think that way about Xiao Zhan." Said Wang Yibo, who was still holding He Peng by the collar.

Meanwhile Wang Mina appeared and stood by me. She put her arm around me and I didn't know how to react.

"You know what? We don't need assholes like you here. Besides, I don't like the way you talk and think about my assistant. And let me tell you something, if I hear one more bad word out of your filthy mouth about Xiao Zhan, I will personally put my fist through your face. Oh, one more thing. Oh,one more thing. You're fired! And your job goes to Gu Jiacheng. Pack your stuff and get out of here." Screamed Wang Yibo.

He Peng stormed angrily into his office and I stood there speechless and didn't know what to say or think. And still Wang Mina had her arm around me.

"Uh mom, you can let go of ZhanZhan now." Said Yibo as he turned to us.

ZhanZhan? He did it again. Why? Why does he have to call me that in front of everyone? What will they think of me now? They must think that Wang Yibo and I are close. But I've only known him for a few hours.

And as if that wasn't embarrassing enough, Wang Yibo takes my light box under one arm and grabs my hand with his free hand and pulls me behind him to the elevator, while Wang Mina follows us giggling.

Somehow, I feel like in a wrong movie. What the hell is going on here?

Only when we have entered the office of Wang Yibo, he releases my hand again, puts my box on my desk, which has been set up in the meantime, and then he looks me straight in the eye. "You should not have gone alone. You should have told me how He Peng is treating you." He says and comes so close to me that our two foreheads almost touch.

"What? When should I have said that?"

"Already this morning! ZhanZhan, you really shouldn't let yourself be bullied! Especially not from a pompous asshole like He Peng."

"Yes, I know. But..."

"No buts! Next time you have trouble, talk to me right away."

"But..."

"Xiao Zhan! I won't tolerate any buts!"

"Promise me."

"All right. I promise. Satisfied?"

"Almost."

"What else?"

"This." He said, and hugged me. "You'll let me know immediately if anyone else messes with you, understand?"

"Cough, yes, I will. Could you let go of me now?"

"Uh, no."

"What? Why not?"

"Because you're so cuddly."

"Eh?"

"Never mind."

So I stood there, in the arms of Wang Yibo, who only let go of me after about five minutes, and was surprised about the behavior of him. Hadn't I been told that he was cold-hearted, dismissive and aloof?

Why do I have the impression that this is not true? Or is he only like that with me? And if so, why? We don't even know each other!

But I am also grateful that he has stood up for me as my boss. I just have to clarify with him that I never agreed to be his assistant. However, I have the impression that saying no, to Wang Yibo is out of the question.

I'm sure there will be stormy times ahead with him!
