Chapter 47

20:43, 30 April 2013

Zayn POV

“D’you want me to take you home?” I ask Perrie as she walks out of the bathroom with Niall.

“Yeh,” Perrie says, looking slightly down. I want to ask her what’s wrong now but I know I should wait till we get home.

“Harry should we get a cab or are you going home now?” I ask, remembering that Perrie got a taxi here and I got a lift from Harry.

“Maybe get a cab. I’m gonna stay here with Ni for a bit if that’s ok,” Harry says. I turn to look at Niall who is looking uncomfortable.

“I’ll see you later bro,” I say and bring Niall into a tight hug to show that I’m not angry with him. I am slightly, but I’ll get over it. I know none of it is his fault and it’ll only make him feel worse if I can’t forgive him.

“See ya,” Niall says and I hold Perrie’s hand and pull her out of the house before she can say goodbye to any of them. I don’t want to make it any harder for Niall.

We make our way outside the house and down the road to hail a taxi and head back to my house.

-

“Are you okay?” I ask Perrie as we sit in my kitchen. I know it’s a weird situation but I didn’t think she’d be acting this weird towards me. I guess I did scream at her and I did get angry and I shouldn’t have. I shouldn’t have reacted like that before I’d heard her speak. It wasn’t fair.

“Um, not really,” she says honestly. “I think we should spend some time apart,” she says, unable to look me in the eye.

“Excuse me?” I say, as I can’t hide how shocked I am.

“I think it’s the best thing for you and the best thing for Niall if I just stay at my house for a bit.”

“You’re breaking up with me?”

“No, definitely not. I just don’t want to be the reason for any tension between you and Niall. He won’t get over me if I’m here all the time or with you all the time like I have been. I’ll just stay at my house for a bit so you can repair your friendship.”

“But I don’t want you to go. I don’t want to lose you.”

“You’re not losing me, I promise. It’s just a bit of time apart. I’ll still love you more than anything. But I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t let you and Niall fix your friendship. Me being around doesn’t help either of you.”

“Stop Perrie. Why are you saying that? Of course you being around helps me. I can’t talk to the boys about everything. I need you. Please.”

“But… Niall?”

“So you’re doing this for him? To protect his feelings? Remember you’re my girlfriend. Not his,” I say, getting angry at the situation.

“I’m doing this for you. Why would you even say that?” she asks, taken aback by my outburst.

“Because I don’t get it. Suddenly you find out he loves you and then I’m dumped,” I say, adding thing up in my head.

“You are not dumped. Don’t even say that. I love you so much and that’s why I’m doing this. I’m doing it because I don’t want to see an important friendship of yours ruined because of me.”

“It’s like you’re making me chose between you and Niall.”

“I’m choosing for you,” Perrie says and a tear slips from her eyes.

I don’t get why she’s crying when she’s the one who wants us to spend time apart but I get out my seat to wipe the tears from her cheeks.

“Don’t cry. Please, don’t cry,” I say and she rubs her eyes to make herself stop crying. “How’s this gonna work?” I ask.

“I don’t want to not see you ever. I want you to come round to my house and everything. I still want to spend time with you,” she says, “Just not here.”

“What’s wrong with here?”

“Well the boys can come here. Then Niall can come here whenever and no one has to worry if I’m here or not.”

I rub my head in annoyance as I feel like my relationship is falling apart. This won’t make things any better between me and Niall. This will just make me resent him. Resent him for being the cause of my girlfriend wanting to spend less time with me. How could our friendship go back to normal when I know that he’s the reason she’s not with me?

“Ok,” I say. It isn’t ok. Not in the slightest but I understand she’s trying to do the right thing. As annoyed I am that she won’t be with me all the time, I understand she’s got good intentions.

“Ok?”

“Yeah. I don’t agree with it but it’s your choice. Do what you want?”

“I don’t want to do this,” Perrie says, looking up at me. “I feel like I have to do this.”

“What if Niall never gets over you? What then? Are you gonna stay away from me forever?” I ask, realizing that neither of us know how long she’ll need to spend time apart.

“I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” she says and I pull her up from her seat to bring her into a tight hug. I hold onto her as she buries her face in the crook of my neck.

“Let’s get Niall round,” I say, still holding her tightly.

“What?” she says, looking up at me.

“We need to talk about this with him. I need to talk to him properly and calmly and I need you to be here. I need to know where I stand with him before you leave. Ok?”

She nods, knowing that I’ve already made my mind up so nothing she says now can stop me from speaking to Niall. I don’t want to blame him for anything because it isn’t his fault but I need to talk to him before his love for my girlfriend tears me relationship apart.

-

“I asked you to come round because I need to talk to you properly. I want to know what I can do and we can do to make you get over Perrie,” I tell Niall as he sits on the sofa opposite me, with Perrie sitting next to me.

“Not to be rude but can I just talk to you alone about it, Zayn?” Niall asks, looking awkwardly at Perrie.

“That’s fine. I’ll just go upstairs,” Perrie says and gets up off the sofa to walk upstairs.

“So?” I say, signaling for Niall to talk now Perrie has left the room.

“I think she’s right about it being better if I don’t see her for a while. But I don’t want that to mean that she sees you less or isn’t around you as much. Maybe just if you go to group things then she doesn’t come along. Not in a rude way. I just think that would make it easier for me. And if you want her to come along then I wont come along,” Niall says.

“So you can’t be around her at all? So much that she can’t see the other boys and so much that I have to chose between you both?”

“No, I don’t want to cause any problems. If you want me to get over her then that is the way it has to be for a while.”

“I don’t see why it has to be this way. Why can’t you get over her by knowing that she is MY girlfriend and you are hurting me and hurting my relationship by being in love with her,” I say, making eye contact with Niall.

“I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with me. Maybe I just need to find a girlfriend.”

“Genius,” I say and quickly jump off the sofa to run upstairs and get Perrie. “Perrie?” I call as I get to the top of the stairs.

“Yeah?” she says as she walks out the bedroom.

“Is Katherine single?”

“Yeah. You want me to ask her out for you?” she jokes.

“For Niall!” I say, a bit to enthusiastically.

“What? Really? Well I guess that could work,” Perrie says and I fist pump the air. “She lives in Newcastle though,” Perrie points out.

“Well we’ll see what Niall says and if yes, we’ll get her to come down to London,”  I say and turn to walk back down the stairs.

“Tell me what he says,” Perrie says before going back into the bedroom.

“Niall. I’ve got the girl for you,” I say as I enter the room.

“What?” he says as he looks up at me.

“Hear me out. She’s called Katherine, she’s a Geordie, she is Perrie’s friend and she is blonde. She’s lovely as well, really really nice,” I tell Niall, excited at the possibility of him going on a date.

“So she’s basically Perrie? You want me to get over Perrie, by going out with her double?” Niall says, rejecting the idea.

“She’s not the same as Perrie. She’s a lot shyer and, don’t tell Perrie, but she’s more intelligent,” I say, whispering the last part.

Niall sat silently as he thought it through in his head.

“Come on, please Niall. Just try it, for me,” I say and he slowly nods his head.

“Ok,” he says, “Let’s give it a go.”

Maybe the beginning of Kiall? Or Natherine? Or Nirine? Or Kathall?

Let me know what you think.
