Chapter 40

Sweet jesus. Chapter 40. Thanks again for all the votes and comments. It means a lot.

This is an important chapter so I hope it's good for the 40th and everything. Enjoy :)

Perrie POV

“Answer me Perrie. What were you doing yesterday?” Zayn asks, getting angry.

“Can’t we talk about this later,” I ask him, aware that people were starting to stare.

“No. I want you to answer now,” he orders.

“You’re making a scene,” I say, getting embarrassed by all the eyes in the room watching me and Zayn.

“Come on. Let’s take this to another room,” Harry says, coming in between me and Zayn and dragging us by the arm upstairs and into Louis’ spare bedroom. I’m sat on the bed while Zayn leans against the wall and Harry paces up and down the room.

“I knew something weird was going on. You two were acting weird the other day and now you’ve lied to me Perrie,” Zayn says, resting the back of his head on the wall.

“It’s not what you think,” I say, defending myself.

“So what is it? Where were you?”

“The prison,” Harry says and I nod.

“I’m sorry I lied but I don’t want her to be there. I want to help her, not to punish her,” I admit to Zayn.

“What? Oh my god,” Zayn says and he slumps down to sit on the floor.

“Are you angry?” I ask, confused following his reaction.

“Of course I’m angry. You’ve lied to me and you’ve both gone behind my back to do something you know I’m not ok with,” Zayn says and I know he’s right but I can’t back down because I know that what me and Harry did was right as well.

“Zayn, you’ve got to understand how horrible that prison was. It is not an appropriate place for a 14-year-old girl who obviously needs help. Me and Perrie both weren’t ok with it and we can’t go on with our lives knowing that she is in there when she should be in rehab,” Harry says and Zayn stands up to come face to face to Harry.

They are nearly touching when Zayn says, “It isn’t your girlfriend that she planned to kill.”

As Zayn grabs Harry’s arm in anger I jump off the bed and push Zayn away. “It is him she attacked and me she threatened to kill. It is nowt to do with you Zayn. Me and Harry aren’t pressing charges and that’s our decision to make, not yours,” I tell him as I get in between him and Harry.

“Well I am,” Zayn says, walking back to where he previously stood by the wall.

“Your what?”

“I’m pressing charges. She broke into my house so I’m pressing charges and that’s my decision,” Zayn says as he glares at me and Harry. I’ve never seen him so angry.

“Don’t do this Zayn,” Harry says in a calming voice.

“And what if I do? You made your choice and I’ll make mine seen as though this obviously isn’t a group decision,” Zayn says walking over to sit on the bed as me and Harry stand.

“If you do it’s over,” I blurt out unintentionally and regret it immediately.

“What?” Zayn asks, spinning his head around to face me.

“What?” Harry repeats as he looks at me as well.

“You care more about this girl not going to jail than you do about our relationship?” Zayn asks.

I want to take back what I said but I’m not backing down. “No. But this is a major thing and if you press charges there will be a trial, we will argue for months and months and obviously neither of us is willing to back down. We won’t survive months of arguing so we may as well end it now,” I say, trying to make myself believe in what I’m saying.

“I’m gonna leave,” Harry says and walks out of the bedroom to go back downstairs. As he opens the door I can see Jade, Eleanor and Liam eavesdropping on our conversation.

“I can’t believe you’re saying this,” Zayn says.

“I’m sorry,” I say, sitting next to him on the bed, “I’m sorry I went behind your back and I know it’s my fault that we’re even having this argument but I can’t change the way I feel about the Abigail situation.”

“But why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you speak to me about it before you went? How were you expecting me to react Perrie? I was bound to find out at some stage.”

“I told you on the plane I wasn’t ok with her being in jail but you just dismissed my opinion and treated me like I was stupid. How did you expect me to tell you when you treated my opinion like shit?”

“Just please, please don’t end this Perrie,” Zayn says and he clutches onto my hand, “I’m sorry for not listening to you but I just don’t understand how you could allow Abigail not to be punished when she tried to kill you.”

“She’s just troubled Zayn. When me and Harry went to the prison we spoke to her for ages. She said that it was an anger problem she had and she couldn’t control herself sometimes. Her mum died and she says her dad hates her. She needs support and love and she will never ever get that in that disgusting prison,” I tell him as the tears start to fall down my face, “I can’t imagine what life is like for her when she has no one to love her and when she has no friends and no real family.”

“Ok,” Zayn says and he wipes the tears from my face.

“Ok?” I ask.

“I don’t agree with your decision but I love you. I know it is in your heart to see the best in people and you are so kind and that’s why I love you. I don’t agree with you but I’ll support you and I won’t press charges against her if that’s what you want.”

“Thank you,” I say and hold Zayn’s face to kiss him, “I should’ve told you before and I’m sorry.”

“Just tell me next time, ok? I’ll be less mad if you tell me in advance. I might not agree with you every time but I promise I’ll support you every time,” Zayn says and he pecks my lips.

“I love you,” I tell him as I push my hands through his hair.

“I love you too. Now lets get back to this party,” Zayn says and he stands up, pulling me along with him. I rest my head on his arm as he escorts me out of the room. I hear a scurrying of feet as Zayn opens the door and I know it’s those nosy people running away. I grip Zayn’s hand tightly as he leads me back downstairs to the party.
