Chapter 5

One week later

Perrie POV

Me and Zayn haven’t texted or spoken since our conversation on the phone and I know it will be awkward when I see him again tonight.

It is another results show tonight and we are performing the charity single for the first time. I’m so nervous. All my family are coming down and it is the first time they’ve come down from Newcastle to see the show.

We pull up to the X Factor rehearsal studios and there are loads of fans there shouting our names. As I make my way over to them there is one girl shouting, “Oi Perrie stay away from Niall.” I ignore her and walk over to some fans wanting autographs. As I sign autographs the same girl shouts again, “Don’t ruin Zayn and Niall’s friendship you whore.”

“What?” I say, turning to her.

“You can’t have both of them so leave them alone,” she shouts back.

“For your information she isn’t dating or flirting with either of them and she never has,” Jade says angrily and drags me by my hand into the rehearsal studios.

“What was that?” I ask Jade.

“Just ignore them Pez.”

But I can’t ignore that girl. This was the first time I’d ever gotten hate in person. I had seen some hateful things written on twitter but I’d never actually met one of these ‘haters’. And why did she think something was going on with me and Zayn? There haven’t been any articles about us. Oh my god I see him.

“Hiya,” I say, waving in the direction of the boys.

“Hey how are you girls?” Niall asks.

“Not good. Perrie just got hate from one of your fans.” Jade tells Niall, still angry that someone would hate on me. I’m look down at the floor.

“Oh my god, are you okay?” Zayn asks and hugs me. Thank god he isn’t angry at me for what I said last week.

“Yeah its fine.” I reply.

“Come with me lets go get a drink,” Zayn says, leading me off by the hand away from the girls and 1D. Oh my god he’s holding my hand.

Zayn POV

Oh my god I’m holding her hand. I quickly let go, realizing my mistake and we make our way over to the café area.

“Here sit down. I’ll go and get you a drink.” I say, pulling her chair out for her.

Once I’ve ordered the drinks I go and sit on the chair next to her.

“It should be here in a couple of minutes,” I say.

“Thanks Zayn,” she says, looking up at me smiling. Wow she has beautiful eyes. She turns away, breaking our eye contact.

“What did they say anyway?” I ask.

“Oh just some stuff about Niall,” she says, looking down.

“Like what?” I ask.

“Like stay away from him and they called me a whore.”

“They called you a WHAT?”

“No Zayn it’s fine, it doesn’t matter.”

I stand up from the table and storm down the corridor. I’m so angry I can feel my heart beating so fast.

Perrie POV

Where is he going?

“Zayn stop” I shout after him but he doesn’t hear me. I run as he leaves the studio to go outside. I push open the door to see what he’s doing.

“Which one of you just said that to Perrie?” He asks. One of the fans points at the girl who said it.

“You! You have no right to be calling anyone a whore. You are no fan of ours if you are so horrible and vile to our friend. Never speak to her like that again otherwise you're asking for serious trouble.” He rants, pointing at this girl. “Do you hear me?”

“Yes,” the girl replies. “Sorry Perrie,” she says, seeing me in the doorway.

Zayn turns around and starts walking towards me. He puts his arm over my shoulder as he leads me back inside to the café. When we are sitting down again I say quietly, “thank you Zayn.”

“You’re welcome Perrie,” he says, gently tucking some hair behind my ear. Our eyes lock together and he brings his face a little closer to mine.

“ZAYN,” someone shouts. Our eye contact stops as I turn around to see it is Paul, Zayn’s bodyguard. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you. You’ve got rehearsals.”

Zayn jumps up from his seat. Obviously feeling a bit awkward that we got so close. “I’ll see you later Perrie,” he says and then he runs over to Paul to go off to rehearsals.

I put my head in my hands. What is wrong with me? Pull yourself together Perrie.
