I've said it before but I'll say it again. I hate my birthday. It's the one day a year everyone puts all their attention on you and it's horrible. Some bits are great like the cake and the presents and getting to do whatever you want but other things like the party is not so great.

Liv had promised me that she would try to convince my dad to not throw a huge party like always for my birthday that year but I knew it was impossible to change my dad's mind about my annual party so I sort of just accepted that I would have to see my family.

When I woke up the next morning it was about 10 o'clock. There were no decorations in my room like the previous year which was good so I climbed out of bed and tried not to think that it was my birthday.

But when I opened my bedroom door it was almost impossible to not think about it. The entire living room was decorated with purple birthday banners and balloons, including two large helium balloons near the front door. The large 2's were weighed down by presents, a very large pile of them.

"Happy birthday!" Liv jumped up from behind the kitchen counter, "Now I know you hate birthday's so if you want I can get rid of all these decorations."

I sighed, "No it's fine. I love them."

She squealed and ran over to me to pull me into a warm hug. She smelt like lavender.

"Oh, also," she let go of me and looked at me, "I tried my best but your dad refused to cancel your party."

"Oh well, it was worth a shot," I shrugged.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Liv jumped excitedly, "That'll be breakfast!"

I watched as she skipped over to the door and swung it open, revealing Niall stood with 4 brown paper bags from McDonald's. I'd forgotten that Niall had stayed the night. Him and Liv both looked at me and waited for me to react.

"You better have gotten my order right," I joked and we all laughed.

Niall came in and sat down on the sofa next to Liv while I sat on the armchair. He handed me a bag and I smiled to thank him. Inside was a sausage and egg McMuffin, a hash brown, a bacon roll with ketchup and pancakes with syrup.

"Here's your drink," Niall said and handed me a large chocolate milkshake.

"Thanks," I smiled and dug into my bacon roll.

We all ate our breakfast fairly fast. Niall finished first even though he had the most food but he waited patiently for Liv and I to finish our food. When we'd all finished I went into my room to get dressed. I was stood in my underwear picking out an outfit when Liv burst in my room with a huge smile on her face.

"What?" I said when she shut the door fully and began giggling.

"He's got you a present," she clapped her hands together.

"Who has?" I said like I was the dumbest person in the world even though I was almost certain of what the answer was.

"Niall," she grabbed my shoulders, "Niall has gotten you a present. I just saw him holding it out there in the kitchen!"

"What? Did you tell him it's my birthday?"

"No that's the thing, I didn't tell him a thing about your birthday," she let go of me and sat down on the edge of my bed, allowing me to get dressed, "Unless..."

"Unless what?" I said while trying to do the zip up of my plaid mini dress I had decided on wearing.

She stood up and walked over to me to help me with the zip that was now stuck, "Unless he remembered your birthday date from 2 years ago when he got you that bracelet, remember?"

I did remember. The beautiful bracelet that I kept at the back of one of the draws in my dressing table because I couldn't bear to throw it away.

"Surely he wouldn't remember my birthday date from 2 years ago OWWW!" I yelled when she pinched me.

"Sorry, this zip is just jammed," she said through clenched teeth, "Ahh done it."

I turned to look at her properly but I was really just talked to myself, "Maybe he's telling the truth."

"Huh?"

"Nothing," I shook my head, "Don't worry about it."

"Ok," she said and left my room. I finished getting ready, putting my hair into a messy bun again and adding mascara on top of the day before's because I forgot to wash it off. I finally put my favourite perfume on and turned my light off before walking out into the living room were Niall was sat by himself on the sofa.

"Liv's in the toilet," he said. I nodded and sat down next to him.

"Thanks for breakfast, it was really good," I said quietly.

He smiled, "No problem."

It was silent for a second and then out of no where I decided to nudge him because it was boring sat in complete silence. He nudged me back and I giggled and looked at him. He had a smile on his face which made me unbelievably happy. And then I had a thought.

"So you know how it's my birthday..."

"Is it? I hadn't noticed," Niall joked and laughed at himself.

"Ha ha your so funny," I said but I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

He sighed, "Yes I know it's you birthday."

"Well... that means you have to do whatever I want you to for the entire day," I smirked.

He chuckled, "Is that so."

"It is so."

"Well then, I guess I've got my day sorted out," he smiled.

I was about to ask him a question when Liv came back into the living room from the bathroom. She walked over to my pile of presents and picked up as many as she could. She sat down in the armchair and put the presents on the coffee table. I'd have to ask Niall the question later.
