Chapter 5

Nothing would keep them from being friends again.

AT THE CAFETERIA

Han and Lee Know entered the cafeteria and ordered what they wanted. The cafe was peaceful, and it was slightly cloudy outside. Han and Lee Know sat at a table and watched out the window. After sitting in a comfortable silence for a while Han cleared his throat and said, "Lee Know..."

Minho turned to look at Han with a questioning gaze. Han said, "I saw you looking at Hyunjin in the lunch hall today..." Lee Know immediately straightened up. Han continued, "I have my reasons not to talk to him, but why did you... distance yourself away from him? You two were best friends..."

Lee Know said, "It's not your business."

"But it is my business, he is my brother."

"Who you hate."

"I don't hate him, he just won't listen to me. As if dad was a dictator!"

"Well, maybe you don't know your dad enough if you think he isn't one!" Lee Know shouted.

Both of them talked a little quieter after getting weird stares from the people around.

Han said, "Can't you try and talk to him? He's never tried contacting me or you, maybe he's scared."

"He should be."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Han asked.

Lee Know took a deep breath, and said, "You can't tell anyone about what I'm going to tell you, ok?"

Han nodded hesitantly.

"Your father has more connections and power than you know. He threatened my family to stay away from Hyunjin when you left. Felix doesn't know this and it'll stay that way." Lee Know whispered leaving Han in shock. Han whispered, "Threatened how? Why?"

Lee Know said looking ashamed and hesitant, "We don't have any proof he threatened us, more specifically, Felix because he's the youngest in the family. Your father is trying not to lose Hyunjin the same way he lost you.."

Han's world stopped. His father wasn't what he thought. Felix was in trouble because Han decided to leave Hyunjin alone. Lee Know had to break their beautiful friendship. It all made sense now. Why Lee Know was overprotective of Felix. Why Hyunjin was always alone. Han's eyes watered. All this time, he'd been blaming the wrong people. What if Hyunjin... Han choked on a sob, "Oh my God, is Hyunjin alright? I'm so stupid... I- I- I should have seen it!"

Lee Know took Han outside as quickly as he could and said, "Hey, hey quokka, it isn't your fault. But it's not Hyunjin's fault either. Ok? I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you; I have been keeping this to myself for a whole year watching Hyunjin hurt, and mom and dad keep telling me to be strong and protect Felix, and I just couldn't- I couldn't keep it in anymore." Han came back to reality and hugged Lee Know.

Both of them calmed down after a while, but they didn't pull away from the hug soon.

Meanwhile,

"Bang Chan is so cool! Why did you portray him to be so boring!" Changbin shouted as IN tried sneaking up on Bang Chan. Seungmin laughed and said, "I never knew about this side of him."

Bang Chan smiled a little, and startled when IN jumped on his back as if taking a piggyback ride. Changbin said, "Nope, I am the only one who gives piggyback rides!" pulling IN off of Chan.

Chan chuckled as IN whined and said, "Who wants to play video games?" Everyone cheered and sat on the couch while Changbin ran to get some snacks. IN said, "He's always hungry."

Chan laughed and said, "I am already tired, thank you for inviting me here Seungmin." Seungmin snickered and said, "Sure grandfather."

They all had a good laugh.

Meanwhile also,

Felix was getting impatient. Just a little bit. He knew things wouldn't fix within a day, but he was still impatient. He decided to text Hyunjin on his old phone number that Lee Know still had. (That day while going through Lee Know's phone, that was all on Felix's mind. And Felix was a master and remembering numbers. He probably knew all physics constants on his finger tips)

Felix:

Hi

Felix sent the text and bit his bottom lip. Will this even work? What if Hyunjin doesn't want help and he didn't like the gift? Or worse, what if Hyunjin doesn't reply?

Felix had no idea why he was worrying this much, but it was certainly looking like a bad idea to him now...

Hyunjin:

Who?

Felix face-palmed and cursed at himself...

Felix:

it's Felix

Hyunjin:

Oh

Hi

I hope you know I am Hyunjin...

Felix:

Obviously?

I texted you...

Anyways, what are you up to?

Hyunjin's brows scrunched. Why would Felix want to text him? Is it because Felix wants to be friends? This isn't necessary for that right? Felix probably has better things to do. Hyunjin decided to reply anyways.

Hyunjin:

I'm texting you right now

Hyunjin cringed, he really need to remember how to socialize again. Felix smiled at the text.

Felix:

Really? Oh

I had no idea!

Hyunjin:

Oh shush

Hyunjin changed Felix to Little Star

Little Star:

That's...

Felix took a deep breath ignoring his burning cheeks. It was time to take revenge.

Little Star changed Hyunjin to Sunflower

Sunflower:

Adorable

Little Star:

Really?

Sunflower:

I was finishing your sentence

Sunflower changed Little Star to Sunshine

Sunshine:

Vkjsgsvkvcavkavkausvk

the sun is also a star anyways

Sunflower:

I want to laugh but I have a migraine

Sunshine:

Uh

Please take some rest

Turn off the lights

Drink some cold milk

Keep your phone away on silent

Sunflower:

Are you suggesting I sleep? Now?

Sunshine:

Duh

Sunflower:

I have homework to do

And I need to attend a gala tonight with my father

Sunshine:

Take some rest now please?

Don't worry too much about homework

Health comes first

Hyunjin chuckled. Health never comes first. Hyunjin stared at the text for a moment. Re-read the whole chat with Felix again. Maybe Felix was really worried about him? He shouldn't be...

Sunflower:

Ok

Sunshine:

Good

We'll talk tomorrow

Sunflower:

Felix

Sunshine:

Yes?

Sunflower:

Thank you

Sunshine:

For what?

Sunflower:

For talking with me

Felix's heart ached. How could Lee Know just abandon his best friend like that? This was so wrong. Lee Know wouldn't even talk about Hyunjin anymore. Maybe Han would try and reconnect with Hyunjin first? Han has always been worried about him.

Sunshine:

Please, I'm so lucky to get to talk to you

You are an angel

Hyunjin's heart ached. He wasn't an angel, Felix was. Felix was perfect. Felix reminded him of Han. Both of them were a ray of sunshine. Hyunjin was happy that both of them were best friends, because if one of them felt like he wasn't shining enough, the other would share their light.

Sunflower:

I'm going to sleep now.

Bye

Sunshine:

Byeeeeeeeeeee

Hyunjin felt like listening to Felix was a good idea. For some odd reason. Hyunjin's head pounded. Hyunjin went down stairs and poured himself some cold milk which he drank in one go. Before going to sleep in his cozy but empty bed, Hyunjin thought, "If I am a sunflower, I'll always need sunshine to be my best." With that and a small smile, Hyunjin fell asleep peacefully.
