Part 12 Birthday

Ranpo's birthday is on the 21st of October, it was getting closer every day, Poe was panicking because he didn't have a lot of gifts for Ranpo yet.

All Poe had prepared was 10 different sweets that were Ranpo's favorite, he bought 10 of each but it wasn't enough... he was brainstorming for ideas in class, but for now nothing came to mind.

He decided he would write him a novel, even though he already made Ranpo a lot of them, he felt the need to try extra hard this time.

Because of this, he fell back to his habit of not sleeping.

Sometimes, when Ranpo slept at Poe's place (they were cuddling you dirty minded rats!!) Ranpo would wake up to find Poe writing, he'd drag him back into bed, where Poe would think of ideas and still not sleep.

Ranpo on the other hand was getting more and more worried for Poe, he didn't want him to be sleep deprived again.

He needed a way to make Poe calm down, he needed to make him listen.

For now he would just talk to him, and generally ask why writing that story is so important.

When Poe came over, Ranpo noticed he had a notebook with him, no doubt to write the story further.

"Hey Ed, why do you keep writing that story so much?" asked Ranpo.

"W-Well it's a gift I'm making" responded Poe, not sure if he should have said that or not since Ranpo would no doubt try to read it now.

"If it's a gift for me (ofc it is Poe doesn't have any other friends except Karl but Karl can't read?) then I'd rather have you sleep than the story." said Ranpo, hoping Poe wouldn't try to say things about that.

"Y-yes but, I want to give something special to you for your birthday, you mean a lot to me and-" but before Poe finished his sentence Ranpo interrupted.

"everyday is about me, my birthday is no different, so you really don't have to write it to that extent, I know that I mean a lot to you, so if you do care about me, you'll sleep and take care of yourself!" instructed Ranpo.

Poe took a second to think, he wanted to listen to Ranpo but-

At that moment, interrupting Poe's chain of thought came a light peck on the cheek.

"Story or no story, I'll still like you. So please just sleep okay?" reassured Ranpo.

Poe smiled and nodded. He would do anything to make the detective happy, and if that meant sleeping like a normal person, then so be it.

When the day finally came, Ranpo celebrated with all his friends. Poe was there too, but him and Ranpo were gonna celebrate alone later in a different way.

The party was fun, everyone was drinking, laughing, playing games. It was a great time. Ranpo's gifts consisted mostly of sweets, he didn't mind of course. The only exception being Yosano, who to not further more make his diet worse, gave him a pair of socks with candies and pastries on them.

Poe did in fact give Ranpo his novel, which Ranpo was very pleased with. He said that it was one of the best ones Poe has ever written.

After everyone left, Poe and Ranpo decided to celebrate. They fed Karl as to not traumatize, and went to kiss.

Since Ranpo had been waiting for his after party festivities for a while, he kissed more passionately from the start instead of the usual slowly elevating kiss.

Their lips intertwined, their tongues mingling (my soul is slowly but surely leaving my body rn-). But this was not out of the usual for them by now, so they decided to do something more.

Poe slowly made his way down to Ranpo's neck, kissing it on the side and leaving some marks.

"mhm- Poe-" moaned Ranpo as the other lightly bit the others collarbone.

Even tho Ranpo thought about it, he decided to do it another time, as for now it didn't quite feel right. They made out for a little bit after that however.

Later they sat in bed and watched youtube, with Karl napping near them in a ball like a cat. They loved being in each others company, they were their best selves when together after all.
