The Final Chapter
05:32, 28 August 2014Abby's POV:
'Dear Diary.
Wow. I haven't written in this book in so long. Looking back at my past diary entries made me realise how happy I used to be.
Of course, Elijah has made endlessly happy, but I have hurt him so many times, and this sire bond is making my decisions muddled. I mean sure, I find Klaus .. attractive. But he's more like a brother to me.
And I can see how much it hurts Lijah that we are blood bound.
Tonight there is a fest at the bar, an auction for bachelors of the town. Klaus, Tyler, Matt, Kol, Damon, Stefan, and Elijah have signed up for it. I told him that it would be fun, and we needed a little of that in our lives.
So I have to get ready now, then go over to the Mikaelsons beforehand. Wish me luck.
Abby xxx'
I sat up from my bed, and gazed at the wall in thought. This was going to be hilarious. Imagine if Damon got Elena. I don't think Stefan would be very happy. I better hope for the best.
Getting up, I opened my small wardrobe to look for some clothes. All I found that I wanted to wear were some skinny jeans and a cargo jacket. I'd much rather go simple than formal tonight, that's for sure. Although I think Carol Lockwood might disapprove.
And I knew Caroline and Elena would be clad in dresses and high heels, which I didn't wear often. Just to show everyone up, I chucked on a new pair converse I had gotten over the weekend, and went into the bathroom to do my hair.
Once again, I would rather go simple. So I chucked it up into a loose ponytail, and dabbed on some mascara, before turning back and grabbing my keys to go.
I knew the Salvatores were nearly ready to leave, but I could hear them fighting downstairs. As I slid down the staircase, I yelled out to the brothers. "I'm going now, see you there?"
Stefan yelled out. "Bye Abbs."
Damon just mumbled a goodbye before stomping back to his room to whip on a dress shirt.
I leapt into my car, and set off to the Mikaelson mansion. No doubt they would all be ready and organised by now.
####
I got there fairly quickly, and I pulled up in the driveway to see Elijah standing out waiting for me, his hair so perfectly styled that my heart melted. I knew whoever won him at that bachelor auction would make me jealous. Too bad I was the one who signed him up for this stupid thing.
I hopped out of the car and ran over to him, jumping into his arms. Lately I had become more appreciative of how much he means to me. Bringing him down into a long, intense kiss, he hesitated at first, but slowly closed in.
His hands slung around my hips, and mine were hooked around his neck, pulling him close, but I was all too aware of the other Mikaelson brothers watching us with amusement from the doorway. Pulling away, I smirked at them, and Kol and Klaus just chuckled and walked back into the house.
Elijah peered down at me, one raised eyebrow. "You're very casual for this."
I just shrugged back at him. "If it's not you that I'm with, I'm not going to be making a big impression anyway. And if it is you, I don't really care."
I pulled him down into another kiss, and he chuckled at my words before pulling my chin up towards him. His lips were so soft. And he was always so beautifully clean-shaven. His cologne smelt amazing and they way his hands were placed on my hips made me want to drag him into bed right now, but unfortunately, we were disturbed by an irritated honking from Kol's car.
I pulled away from Lijah to see his little brother rolling his eyes at us, and I just noticed that he had cleaned up quite nice in that tux. Hmm, so had Klaus. I guess I'd expected them to be more organised than the Salvatores.
Elijah chuckled once more at my irritated face, about Kol disturbing us. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it lightly. "Later."
I grinned at him, my body tingling with happiness, and I dragged him over to his flash car, mine would have to wait here till after the auction. I would rather arrive in style.
As we hopped into the car and drove away, I could see the two brothers rushing to beat us to the venue. Oh well. Me and my Mikaelson couldn't care less.
When we finally arrived at The Grill, Elijah pressed a soft kiss onto the top of my head before leaning down to whisper into my ear. "I need to go and get ready with the others. I love you."
I kissed him on the cheek with a small smile. "Love you too."
I turned around and went to find Caroline, who was sitting at a table next to April Young, who was watching the stage, and waiting for the men to walk on. I hopped up onto a stool next to them.
"Hey guys. Is it just me who finds it hilarious that barely any of these men are single?"
Caroline downed her drink and stared blankly at the front of the room. "Yeah."
I raised one eyebrow at her. "What happened to the Caroline I know and love? No constant chatter? I'm shocked!"
The blonde just gave me a slightly amused smirk before sighing. "I guess I haven't been myself lately. I've had a lot of things on my mind."
A decent-looking waiter came around and grinned at me, offering a drink. I just gave a polite smile back, before snatching it off the tray and turning my back on the man.
Caroline gasped as he strolled away. "That guy was totally checking you out!"
I rolled my eyes at her. "Two guys chasing me at one time, who does that sound like?"
It was just meant to be a harmless joke, but her eyes glazed over, and she suddenly became completely lost in thought. "Sounds familiar."
I just leaned back into my seat and peered around the room. All the girls had their tickets ready, waiting for the charming men to be brought upon the stage.
April sighed dreamily from across the table. "I hope I get Matt as my date."
This suddenly brought me to my senses, and I sprung up, slamming my drink down onto the table. "Be right back, I have to go collect my ticket."
Both of the girls nodded happily, and I paced over to the ticket table, slightly shocked that I had let something as simple as that pass me by. Jeremy Gilbert was giving out the tickets, and he smirked at me.
"Do me a favour will you Abby, make sure Elena doesn't win a date with Damon."
My eyes flickered over to his older sister, who was playfully laughing with Bonnie, sitting on a stool and waiting for the show. I turned back to the boy and rolled my eyes.
"They're good for eachother." I snatched my ticket off of him. "Besides. I have other things to worry about."
As I walked back to my table I realised what those other things were. If I won a date with either Kol, Klaus, or Stefan it would be extremely awkward.
Sure, Kol was like a brother to me now, and Stefan was my best friend, but that was what would make it weird. And Klaus.. I shuddered as I sat back up onto my stool. I couldn't even think about what that would turn out like.
Turns out I had impeccable timing because Carol Lockwood strutted onto the stage and snapped her fingers, making the bewildered men followed her out.
My eyes scanned the line of dressed up males. Tyler was staring at Caroline cheekily, as was Damon at Elena. Although neither of the girls seemed very pleased. Next along was Matt, whom April was gazing along at, and then Kol, who just looked mighty wrapt to be up there. He would grab any woman given to him, and I knew that for sure. Klaus was next to his younger brother, and his focus was on our table unfortunately. His stare flickering between me and Caroline. He was creeping me out. Then came Stefan, who looked almost scared of which girl he would have to take under his wing, and lastly, came my favourite face in the world.
Elijah. Well, actually it was a plumber named John between him and Stefan, which I later learned from Carol's introductions. Lijah smirked at me and I grinned back at him, as he stood on the edge of the stage, looking mildly out of place.
There was a dusting of other bachelor men scattered throughout the line, but none that I knew well enough, and suddenly the names and tickets were being called.
####
Elijah's POV:
I stood up there, the stage lights making my smile falter a little, but my eyes were glued onto Abby all the same.
As all the other girls around her wore dresses and high heels, she looked beautiful in whatever she wore. Even that green cargo jacket which I had grown an appreciation to, as I knew I would be ripping it off of her later.
Mrs. Lockwood started calling out the names of the bachelor winners, and I tuned my ears in to her words, keen to listen in.
"Tyler Lockwood - ticket number 16."
April Young carefully stepped up, her hair intricately styled on top of her head, and Tyler smiled at her awkwardly. I had to stop myself from frowning at this. He chose to do this auction, so he could at least be polite.
"Damon Salvatore - ticket number 07."
Looking down the line of men I could see Stefan's body stiffen, and Abby's face looked shocked as Damon stepped down to grab Elena by the hand, dragging her over to the bar. I leaned over to the Salvatore. "Don't worry. Anyone can see you are better for her anyday."
He nodded, but kept staring straight ahead. Poor guy.
"Matt Donovan - ticket number 02"
I felt my face push into an amused smirk as Matt stepped over towards my ecstatically pleased sister, who was trying to hide her happiness.
"Kol Mikaelson - ticket number 14"
My youngest brother strutted over to the pretty girl who had stepped forward and reached down, kissing her hand charmingly. He would have no trouble with his date tonight. As usual.
"Klaus Mikaelson - ticket 01."
Carol Lockwood hesitated before uttering the ticket number, as Caroline had the first ticket out, and Tyler was her son. And he looked far less than happy watching my brother charm his newly ex-girlfriend from the other side of the room. I just smirked. At least Niklaus was happy. Nobody liked him mad.
"Stefan Salvatore - ticket 10"
Bonnie Bennett stepped forwards toward Stefan with a friendly smile, and I could almost feel his sigh of relief. At least now he could easily make Elena jealous. It wasn't that hard. And Bonnie was a handy friend to have, being a Bennett witch and all.
"John Fredrickson - ticket number 08"
The man next to me stepped forward to meet his equally attractive pair, and I could almost hear the wedding bells ringing. This auction could set some people up for life. But at last my name came. Everyone already knew what was going to happen.
"And last but not least - Elijah Mikaelson - Abby Stephenson"
####
Klaus's POV:
I rolled my eyes as my brother stepped over towards Abby. It was so obvious he had compelled somebody for this. As had Damon. But as for me, my auction date was purely fate. Unfortunately Caroline didn't seem to be convinced. As we sat at the back of the room drinking some wine, she smirked across at me.
"How am I supposed to believe that you didn't make this happen?"
I rolled my eyes. "Do you really think that bad of me love?"
She chuckled and looked at me sarcastically, this just making me laugh along. "Okay, okay. I admit I have done some compulsion in the past. But I'm a changed man!"
The blonde leaned towards me, her face nested on her palm, her elbow dug into the table restlessly, and the way she looked at me made me do a double take.
I was sure she looked even more beautiful tonight than I had ever seen her. Although, when didn't she look stunning. Her blonde hair was parted to the side, and a frenchplait was stretched across her forehead, pulling her hair back to reveal her wonderfully blue eyes. They sparkled at me, and as I looked into them, I realised that I would never find anyone I strived for as much as her.
In a split second I lost control of my mind, and of what we were doing, where we were, even who was around us. Our lips met, and she didn't pull back. I brought my hands up around her face, pulling her closer.
After about one minute she did pull away, and looked up at me, smiling like crazy. "I fancy you."
My eyes shined and I thought back to the old time at the Mikaelson Ball, when I had said those very words to her. The fact that she remembered them had me dumbstruck, and I leaned in again, wanting to devour every inch of this beautiful woman. But she held a finger to my lips.
"Stop. Shall we get out of here?"
I slowly nodded. Love was a vampire's greatest weakness. But I didn't care. My weakness was Caroline Forbes.
####
Abby's POV:
I couldn't help smiling as my vampire hearing picked up Klaus and Carr's conversation from across the room. Elijah's hand squeezed mine, and I looked up at him with one raised eyebrow. "Do you hear what I hear?"
He slowly nodded, a smile beginning to creep onto his face. "I just heard the confirmation of our life together, without any harm from Klaus and that irritating site bond."
Without any warning, he picked me up off my feet, and pulled me into the most breathtaking kiss, whilst spinning me around, leaving me shocked. But my lips reacted instantly. No matter where we were, no matter who was around, I would never deny a kiss from from this amazing man.
He squeezed my hand as our lips and tongues danced together, and my heart pounded, my love for him almost beating out of my chest. He stopped for a second, leaning down to whisper tantalisingly into my ear.
"Get out of here?"
I nodded, giving him one last kiss and leaving the place behind, not even remembering the car. We zipped home, my home, and in a matter of seconds we were upstairs, ripping clothes off eachother. Tonight he seemed more hesitant, but more loving at the same time.
As we flopped down onto the bed, me on top of him, only my jeans and a bra left on, he stared up at me, before rolling over so he was on top. His eyes held my gaze for several seconds, before he slowly opened his mouth to form the words.
"Will you marry me."
My eyes widened, and my heart beat faster than ever before. I processed his words over and over in my head, listening to the way he said them, his beautiful, beautiful voice. A smile spread onto my face, and I squeezed one of his hands.
Unfortunately he took my shock of silence as a hesitation, and he sat back up, his bare chest showing, and he brushed his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry. I guess that was a bit sudden. Although I have been thinking about it for awh-"
I pulled him down and rolled over once more so I was on top of him, planting a huge kiss right onto the man's lips. "Yes. I will marry you."
These words were all he needed to leap back into happiness again, and his hand slithered around my waist, pulling me closer towards him, our kiss becoming more intense.
This was the start of our life together. And I wasn't intending on wasting it.
