21. Journeys after Elijah

17:31, 17 July 2013

Abby's POV:

Okay, okay. Maybe I didn't handle the situation the best. But running away seemed like a pretty good option at the time.

When Stefan had smashed into The Grill, while leaving me and Matt stunned, he came over, demanding questions.

I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of an answer, the Salvatores were always too nosey. But I just said goodbye to Matt, and took the brother on a stroll around the block.

He looked at me strangely, worriedly, as we paced along the leaf-littered pavement, and I started my story.

"So. It all started when- hey wait. Since when did you start caring for Elijah?" He rolled his eyes, and I smirked.

"Fine. I kissed Klaus."

His eyes widened as the story sunk in. I coughed and scuffed at the leaves on the footpath.

"Oh come on, it's not that big of a deal. I don't even know why I did it. I love Elijah. And only him. Klaus is annoying."

He nodded. "Yes, I understand now."

I gave him a puzzled look. "Understand what?"

"You're not going to like this." He looked at me with his brooding eyes. "Elijah plans to kill Klaus."

And that, ladies and gentleman, was when I ran away. Stefan wasn't having much luck with the ladies lately. In the past few days, he's had me and Elena both run away from him. He called frantically after me.

"Where are you going?"

I turned my head over my shoulder, still running. "Where do you think?"

I heard his footsteps stop to a halt, obviously giving up on chasing me to the ends of the Earth. I was going to his house anyway. Because I knew that Elijah would be there. But first I would go back to my car, and arrive in style.

I strolled into the house, too see Damon sprawled on the seat, drinking as usual. He raised an eyebrow when I walked in.

"Welcome back little Miss Klaus Kisser." He smirked.

I scowled at him, walking over and grabbing one of his bloodbags. "Stefan told you?"

The other Salvatore appeared from the side room, an innocent smile on his face. I huffed and crossed my arms.

"By any chance has Elijah dropped by?"

Damon shrugged. "Whoops, you just missed him."

Dammit. He probably left when I arrived. Which was kind of immature when I just wanted to apologise. I had never seen Elijah like this before.

Frowning, I climbed up the stairs, pondering on what to do next. I then sprawled out on my bed, groaning in frustration. Why was life so confusing and hard.

I heard Stefan chuckle. He should just go jump off a cliff. His life was pretty much perfect, and I was not in the mood.

Maybe I should go to the other Mikaelsons for help. I knew that Elijah wouldn't be at their place anyway, trying to avoid me. So it was worth a shot.

Rebekah's POV:

I brushed my fingers through my hair, untangling all the knots. I liked Matt Donovan. He was nice to me. Strange, considering my reputation.

But after Kol had injured him, he had learned to dislike out family. And I was sulking.

I had been in my room the past 2 days, mad at my brother, and extremely bored. So when there was a knock on the front door, I jumped at the chance of socialising. Whoever it was, Kol would piss them off anyway.

I zipped downstairs and smashed into the door handle at the exact same time as my devious brother, wrenching it open. A very surprised Abby stood on our doorstep, her eyebrows waved at our willpower.

She was probably looking for Elijah. Uh. Guess no socialising then.

I pulled her inside, pushing Kol away. He grinned at her.

"What gives us the pleasure of you being here love?"

I smirked at his stupid wording.

"Looking for Elijah? He's not here I'm afraid." I tilted my head to the side. "Actually.. he was out getting you back from Klaus."

She coughed awkwardly at my eye contact, and looked towards the ground. Oh, scandal. Just what I needed. Kol butted in.

"What do you need love? Some fun perhaps?" He winked at her playfully.

I scoffed and dragged her over to the living room. "Go away Kol, she doesn't need you pestering her non-stop."

He grinned, and strutted out of the room. I sat Abby down, who looked kind of overwhelmed for some reason. Handing her a cup of coffee, I smiled.

"So what's Elijah done this time?"

She looked up at me sadly. "It's not what he's done, it's what I've done."

I sighed, and sipped my drink. "Oh no. He can be quite sensitive at times."

She nodded in agreement. "Well. I sort of.. kissed Klaus."

My eyes widened, and I almost spilt my coffee onto my lap.

"You what?!" She looked back down at the ground, obviously ashamed by her actions.

"I still love Elijah! And I always will. I guess I was bored and tired, and stupid. It didn't mean anything. But Lijah has been avoiding me ever since."

I nodded back at her. "And now you came to me and Kol for help."

In a flash, my brother was back by my side. "I heard my name. What's up sist-a?"

I looked up at him. "This one kissed Klaus and now Elijah's gone AWOL."

He chucked violently. "Oh this is brilliant. The allure of the Mikaelson brothers, so handsome, so charming. Wanna add another one to the list?"

Kol leaned in closer to her and put on his award-winning smoulder. But everyone knew he was a player. He could pull it off.

I slapped him on the arm. "Shut up Kol, stop flirting. This is serious."

He rubbed between his eyebrows, as if pretending to think. "Yeah this is serious, what if Elijah stakes himself."

Abby rolled her eyes. "I think he's been planning something with the Salvatores."

He nodded. "Well, he'll probably make a deal to get rid of their werewolf problem, if they do something for him."

My brother grabbed a bottle and started pacing around the room. I opened my mouth to say something, then stopped short. Abby had a shocked look on her face.

"He's not going to kill himself." She explained. "In exchange for helping the Salvatores, they're going to kill Klaus."

My eyes widened, and I hopped up. Springing my phone out of my pocket, I dialed my hybrid brother. Abby sat across from me still, not looking at all surprised by my words. Klaus answered after two rings, with a cheerful voice.

"Hello baby sist-a. What's happening back at home?"

I scrambled to talk to him, still taking my thoughts in. "Where are you Klaus?"

He laughed. "Still at my country house love, why?"

I knew it was almost impossible to kill him, but I could see Elijah giving it a well earned try. "Elijah is coming to kill you."

He started laughing, hisoverconfidence setting in. "Rebekah, darling, I really don't think my brother can kill me. It was one kiss, no need to overreact."

I sighed, exasperated. "You don't get it Klaus, Elijah has never felt this strongly about a girl since Tatia. And you were able to work it out last time, because she died. Do you really want Abby to be caught in the wreckage of this?"

I heard him do a double take. He obviously realised I could be right. Abby was sitting across from me, still with a blank face. Kol had plopped down next to her, gulping down his scotch.

After a minute, Niklaus answered. "Thankyou for the warning sist-a. I have to go. Have a nice day."

I huffed. "Wait Kl-"

It cut off. Abby was watching Kol in disgust as he moved onto his next bottle. If he was a human, he would be long dead by now with alcohol poisoning, along with the older Salvatore.

"Klaus can look after himself. Everything will be fine. I suggest you wait till Elijah has calmed down, then explain your feelings to him."

Abby nodded, taking in my words, and was about to answer when she was cut off by a voice across the room.

"Who isn't calm?"
