Letting Hunter Down/His Name's Ryder Lynn

22:01, 23 March 2013

I went to Dalton. Hunter had told me that there was a Warbler practice going on and that, if I wanted to, I could stop down and watch.

I walked to the choir room (still haven't decided if that's what it is or not concidering it's nothing like the one that we have at McKinley). I listened to the voices of the Warblers talking.

"I don;t understand why we shoud 'disband'. I mean, just because we lost, doesn't mean we have to stop singing. There's a bunch of gigs open for Christmas." one said.

"Shut up, Nick!" someone, who sounded like Sebastian, said. "Just because you think you're right about those performance inhansers, doesn't mean you're the head of this Glee Club."

"He's right, Nick." said Hunter's voice. "In fact, why are you still here? Leave! You're not a part of this club anymore. Go!"

There was silence, then footsteps coming towards me. A boy (Nick, I guessed) walked out the door looking angery as ever. He looked at me.

"You're that girl that Hunter likes." he said. I nodded. "You could do better."

And with that, he was gone. I watched him leave before walking up to the door. I stood in the door frame and looked in the room. The boys in that room didn't look like the happy Warblers I had seen the day before. In fact, they looked miserable now.

They all sat at the couches, looking at the floor in shame. It was like they were upset that they let their friend go.

Sebastian and Hunter sat behind a table. Hunter had a gavel in his hands and both looked as mean as ever. If this was how Hunter really was, I was glad I was telling him to the truth. I can't believe I thought I liked him.

A blond boy looked up. He noticed me and turned to look at Hunter.

"Hunter." he said. "You have a visiter."

Hunter, still annoyed looking, turned to look at me. His expression softened, but not a lot.

"Hey, Marcia!" he said.

"Can-can we talk?" I asked.

The whole room was suddenly alert. No one liked the sound of that.

Hunter looked around the room and then back to me. He had a nervous expression, but got up anyways. He walked over to me and I led him out the door and down the hall a bit so that no one could hear us.

"What's up?" he asked.

"Well, I've been doing some thinking and," I sighed. "I think we should just stay friends."

I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Finally, that was over with.

"Oh." he said. "Why, was it something I said or something I did?"

"I don't know." I lied. Truthfully, I did know. There were many reasons. I could make a whole list right now. "It's just, I thought I liked you, but, honestly, I don't. I'm sorry."

He looked at me. I could see the sadness in his eyes. I had broken his heart. His first true love broke his heart.

Suddenly, the sad turned to anger and the weight was put back on my shoulders. Oh no. What had I done?

"Fine. Whatever. I never really liked you anyways. You're just a stupid New Direction." he said.

I bit my lip. Okay, that hurt.

"And you're a stupid Warbler." I said.

With that, his hand raised and I braced myself. I had never been hit by a boy before. I wasn't sure what it would be like.

But nothing came. No pain. No slap. No hit. Nothing. Just a small sob that escaped from Hunter's lips before he turned on his heel and left.

I watched him go and realized how much he really did like me. If only I liked him.

I walked to a park that was close to my house and sat on the bench to take everything in. I could only imagine the terror that Hunter was putting the Warblers through. He really was evil.

I watched the ducks in the pond swim about. Some walked onto the land and some stayed in the water.

All of a sudden, a dog came running up towards them and barked, scaring them back into the water.

"Max! Stop! Get back here!" someone called after the dog.

The dog did stop, right at my feet. I looked down and smiled at the little husky.

"Hey there, fella." I said, scratching his ear. "I think your daddy's calling you."

"Max." the owner said, walking up to us. "Bad dog."

I looked up to see that the owner was non other than Ryder Lynn.

"Hey Ryder." I said.

"Hey Marcia. What's up?" he asked, trying to catch his breath.

"Not much. Just did something I know I'll regret for the rest of the year."

"What did you do?"

"Broke Hunter Clemington's heart."

Ryder sat down next to me and scratched his dogs ear.

"I didn't know you two were together." he said.

"We weren't. He liked me, but I don't like him. I like someone else." I said.

"Oh yeah?" he said, sounding upset. "Who?"

"His names Ryder." I said, looking at him. "Ryder Lynn."

Ryder looked at me and opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He looked down at his dog, who barked as if to say, "You heard right."

"You like me?" he asked.

I nodded.

"And you like Marley." I said.

"I used to." he said. "But, I like someone else now."

"Who?"

"Her name is Marcia Hales."
