Darius drank and drank from her blood, as disgusting it was, because it was making him feel a hell of a lot better. Damn he should have fed last month.

He noticed her eyes were trained on Ahgony again, though his friend was looking down at him with concern.

He licked Penehlope’s wounds closed and got up, feeling his body regaining his strength.

- Are you ok man?

He nodded at his friend and sat back down, offering Penehlope his wrist. He winced as she struck, thinking this was the last time she would feed off him without being mated.

The last time she would feed of his wrist…

God, how he hated this.

He looked at Feron.

The desire to kill him on the spot was so great, he was actually trembling from it. But everyone in the house had voted that they wanted him alive. And so he would do that… cause they were family… For some absurd reason they preferred him alive, even if it meant relating with these rats.

An image of Nalla flashed inside his mind, only briefly, and he instantly suppressed it. He could not allow himself to think of her or he would kill Feron after all and call this whole thing off.

When he had learned the girls were going out to see her, he had made them all swear they wouldn’t tell her anything about the real reason he was getting mated. He didn’t want her to worry about him, and knowing her, she’d worry. A lot.

- Hello?

- Huh, what?

Penehlope rolled her eyes.

- I said, I’m finished. You can go now.

She made a shooing motion with her hands as if she were dismissing him. Seriously, what the hell was her problem?

- Fine. I’ll see you next month then for the mating.

She smiled and it was almost… evil. For a spit second he wondered if she was in on it. Did she know what her father had done to him?

- Oh yes you will hellren mine. Yes. You. Will.

Nalla howled with laughter at some of the things her friends came up with. Tears were streaming down her face and she absolutely loved it.

She hadn’t had this much fun in ages!

- So he’s like a complete idiot! I mean, it’s not my fault I’m better at hand-to-hand combat than he is. All these evil looks, I mean really?

- Are you sure it’s not because you’re attracted to this Elvar guy, Hope?

- Oh hell no! I would never fall for a guy that’s weaker than me, uh uh, no way. Now Vix… him I could have a thing for. But I don’t.

- Yeah yeah.

They all teased Hope a little until Mariah’s phone beeped with a text.

- Ohhh is that Ahgony.

- Yeah.

She blushed slightly as she read what he sent her and replied back.

- So how are things going between the two of you?

- I’m not sure, I mean, we don’t get to spend much time together now that he’s…

She looked at Nalla who frowned.

- Ah… I’m not sure if I’m allowed to tell you.

Jhade interfered.

- Ahgony is D’s Ahstrux Nohtrum now.

- Really?

- Yup.

- Whoa, never would have thought he’d agree to that.

- Well it wasn’t exactly by choice so…

- Right. Ok well moving on… Janie, Sandra, any secret loves you wanna share with us?

Janie giggled.

- No one, but… get this. Daddy thinks I’m head over heels with Adi, you know the Glymera snob I have to feed off once I hit my transition? It. Drives. Him. Mad! I absolutely love it!

- Oh my God, poor Butch!

- Yeah, the amount of times uncle V has lectured me on being safe and waiting for the right one… It’s hilarious.

The girls laughed.

- Seriously, V?

- Yeah, he gets totally awkward, you know. Takes me aside, gets a handrolled out, lights it, exhales and then, without looking at me he goes like ‘So the cop tells me you like this male, true?’.

They all erupted in laughter again as Janie imitated V’s actions and voice.

- Oh dear... the day you really fall for someone…

Janie’s eyes twinkled in amusement.

- He will go really mental. I can’t wait.

She looked over at Sandra.

- Your turn. Spill.

- Oh no… I…

- Come on Sandra, Is there anyone you like?

She shrugged and they all cheered her on. She briefly glanced towards Hope.

- Maybe… uhm… Hunter?

- Are you serious?? My twin? Ohh I see some match making in my future, sister-in-law!

Nalla started laughing hysterically, as she looked around.

- Ohhhh Wrath is going to go absolutely crazy when he realizes his rule of no dating other Brother’s kids is not working out at all!!
