Lover Sacrificed - Chapter 39

Darius had asked his father to congregate everyone in the household in the vestibule. This affected everyone. So it was only fair that everyone got a vote. He didn’t care how much it upset his father.

From the top of the stairs, he saw everyone get together and realized he loved every one of those people.  He would gladly sacrifice his life if it meant none of them had to put up with the Glymera ever again.

- Dad, please explain the situation.

Wrath shook his his head but obliged. The shock on everyone’s faces, except Doc Jane and Manny, was obvious.

- We’ll kill them!

The brotherhood went crazy, revenge en retribution thick in the air. Until Wrath explain them all about the antidote.

- Fuck.

- Bastards!

- We should bring Havers back and kill him all over again!

- What happened to your ‘I don’t negotiate with terrorist rule’?

- V, this is my son we’re talking about. Like I told him, I would side with the Omega himself to keep him safe.

- So what do we do? We can’t just sit here and do nothing, true?

Wrath sighed.

- They’ll get mated. D will get his antidote and once I know he is safe, then we can start thinking of… something.

- Why the fuck didn’t you tell us sooner.

Rhage sounded genuinely hurt.

- That’s what I would like to know.

He cringed at the icy tone in his mahmen’s voice. He had to interfere before things got out of hand and everyone stopped paying attention. He whistled loudly.

- There is an alternative. It would mean that none of you would have to deal with the Glymera. It would prove them that we really don’t negotiate with terrorists.

- Darius no!

- Dad. Just… let them choose, ok? Let me do this.

His father cursed under his breath while his mahmen just looked as if she were about to be sick.

- The alternative would be to cancel the mating. No antidote, no nothing. Just let whatever they did to me, happen.

- But that would mean…

- I know exactly what it means Bella. And I am ok with it.

She smiled sadly.

- You are a male of worth Darius. But I’m not so sure Nalla would be ok with it.

- I don’t want her to know. Ever. It would mean I have a few years with her. Until this virus, or whatever it is, takes over.

- That is a very big sacrifice to make, true?

- I know V. But, I would rather sacrifice my life than let any of you have to put up with the Glymera rats. No offence Rehv.

- None taken.

- We can’t trust them. The have proven this over and over again. But, since we are all in this together and you are all my family, I wanted you guys to be aware of what is going on. And I wanted all of you to have a vote in what happens now.

Beth started sobbing softly.

- Darius, please don’t.

He walked over to her and kissed her forehead.

- It’s ok mahmen. I know what I am doing.

He addressed the crowd again.

- Ok. Can everyone who agrees for the ceremony to be cancelled lift their hand?

No one moved.

- Come on guys. Think about it. Would you really rather shack up with the Glymera? Let them into our home?

Everyone, all the males, females, pretrans and even doggens lifted their hands.

As one, all the Brothers knelt and punched their fists into the floors, something he had always seen them do out of respect and loyalty towards his father.

- Guess the decision has been made, son.

Wrath sounded proud and relieved.

He didn’t feel relieved at all.

- Yeah, I guess it has.
