Lover Sacrificed - Chapter 37

01:16, 28 August 2014

- Are you sure about this?

Nalla nodded eagerly and Rehvenge gave her a little golden key.

- Welcome to your new home. Come on in.

She still couldn’t believe her uncle was giving her his apartment at the Commodore! They walked inside and she frowned. It was empty. Like completely empty. Except for a chair and a tablet.

- Come here. Sit down. This thing is your key to decorating this place as yours.  This website…

He pressed a few keys and a known furniture and decoration website showed up.

- Order anything you want or need. It will all be delivered in the morning.

- But ah…

- Ah Katya, here you are. Nalla, this is Katya, your doggen. Katya, this is Nalla, my niece. Everything she wants, she gets.

- Of course. Welcome milady.

Katya bowed.

- Oh no no no. None of that. No bowing and no milady. Call me Nalla, please.

- Very well.

Katya beamed at her and she already liked the plump middleaged doggen.

- Katya’s room is already set up, as is the spare room, which you can use until you order all the stuff you need for your bedroom.

- Thanks Uncle Rehv. This is exactly what I needed.

- You know… we are going to have to tell your parents eventually. They have a right to know they are having a grandchild.

- I know.

- And your mahmen is going to be devastated that you haven’t trusted her enough…

- I know. But right now, I just need some me time. Hopefully, once I am ready to tell them, Darius is mated, in love and about to be a daddy with whats-her-name, so he won’t care about me if he ever finds out.

Rehvenge just shook his head.

- That ain’t never gonna happen, but whatever, it’s your life, you’re an adult now, so... just think about this ok?

She nodded.

- Remember, if you need to leave the building, at all, for whatever reason, call me. I will make sure you have shadows to ensure your safety, and before you ask, yes, I will know exactly when you leave the apartment, got it?

- Got it. Thanks

- No worries. I’ve gotta head out. Do you need anything else before I go?

- Nope. I’m all set.

He kissed her forehead.

- Have fun shopping. And take good care of yourself and that little girl you got growing inside you. I’ll make sure Doc Jane follows up on you and I’ll come visit. Call me if you need anything.

He left her touching her belly in wonder. Her uncle’s Sympath abilities always amazed her.

Darius frowned as he looked over all the letters his father and Saxton showed him.

Except they weren’t really letters as such, more like threats.

He looked back at his father as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

- Ok, so let me get this straight. This Havers guy was associated with Feron, Penehlope’s father?

Wrath nodded.

- And this Havers dude, infected my blood with something.

- Chronic myeloproliferative Sepsis.Or that´s what he calls it.

- Yeah, that. But you didn’t know Havers was involved until he died. Or we killed him, whatever.

Wrath sighed deeply.

- Feron sent another letter when we confirmed Havers death and made it public. When you were a toddler, you got sick once. Badly. Doc Jane and Manny had no idea what it was and Ehlena wasn’t sure so, we had no choice but to take you to Havers, our only Physician at the time. He injected you with what we thought was medication but apparently has turned out to be this virus. I started receiving threats and even though we know Feron is involved, only he knows where the antidote is, He will only provide you with a bit each time, to keep this thing at bay. If you don’t take it.…

- How do we even know this is real? That I have this virus? I feel absolutely fine.

- Doc Jane and Manny have both confirmed the mutation in your blood. It triggered right after your transition, like Feron said. And it is supposed to kill you 15 years after, so in 10 years. Darius my son, without the antidote, you are literally a walking, talking and breathing time bomb.
