Theo's Advice
09:18, 25 December 2023"Malfoy. You have been such an arse," Theo laughed while laying on his side, lounging on Draco's enormous hotel bed. The moment Hermione left, Draco went up to his room and called Theo using his weird Muggle device. Theo Disapparated right over leaving Amber, his wife, in the middle of a date.
"What do you mean?" Draco scoffed as he paced around the room, biting his nails. "I haven't done anything!" He faced Theo.
"Haven't done anything?" Theo chuckled. "Malfoy. This woman, who, if I may add, was there for you after Astoria"-- he gave Draco an accusing look- "came to you to apologise and explain why she left you alone! She was actually honest and vulnerable, and you just....you just....you may as well have slapped her in the face!"
Draco smirked at him. "Since when did you get so wise, Theo?" He sat down on the small couch by the window and crossed his legs.
"This isn't me being wise, Malfoy"--Theo shook his head- "this is called common sense and human decency. Something you are lacking at the moment." He got up off the bed and strode over to sit next to Draco. "Look. You were an arse. A bloody arse, Malfoy," he scolded him, "but I guess it doesn't matter, huh? It's not as if you have ever cared about Granger. Why would you apologise?" The question was rhetorical, but Draco didn't react in any way. "Malfoy?" Theo nudged him in the side, as Draco was evidently not listening. "Malfoy." Theo elbowed him.
"What?" Draco answered in a dreamlike state. "WHAT?" He shouted, rubbing the side that Theo elbowed.
Theo didn't flinch. He was used to Draco's antics. "Do you care about Granger? Because you didn't really react to what I said there," he pointed out, while eyeing Draco.
"No. No, why would I?" He scoffed again and walked over to the in-room bar. "I only work with her. She's the one who tagged along with the whole Zabini case." He turned back to Theo, who was smirking, giving Draco a sure-I-believe-you look.
"Why are you still talking about her, then?" Theo accused him. "Why haven't you told me to shut up and change the subject?" He stood up and strolled over to the mini-fridge in the corner. He opened it and grabbed a Coke.
"You know those cost about four pounds, right?" Draco told his friend, gesturing to the Coke in his hand. Evidently, he was trying to stall the conversation.
"Yeah, yeah, you can pay for it as a thank you for me and all of my wisdom," Theo brushed off, cheering Draco with the drink.
"I thought you said it wasn't wisdom, Theo?" Draco smirked and walked over to grab a pop himself.
"Don't change the subject, Malfoy," Theo glared, pointing at him with his free hand. "Why haven't you told me to shut up about Granger if you don't care?" He repeated.
Draco walked to the window and turned to face his friend again. He opened his drink and took a sip. "Shut up about Granger," he said simply and took another sip.
Theo rolled his eyes and walked over to him. "Sure. Well, I'm sure she never wants to talk to you again after today anyway, so you got that off your plate!" Theo told him, feigning enthusiasm and patting Draco on the shoulder.
"No more Granger! Yay!" He put up his hands, even the one with the pop, pretending to celebrate. He studied Draco and noticed his defeated expression.
"Look, Malfoy," Theo began while walking to the bed again, "I'm going to give you some of my extraordinary wisdom again. You're not going to like it, though."
Draco was quiet.
"Okay," Theo said, crossing his legs, "you're going to go to Granger, and you're going to be vulnerable. Just like she was with you." Obviously satisfied with his 'extraordinary' wisdom, he examined his nails. When he looked up again, Draco's mouth had dropped open.
"Are you kidding, Theo?" Draco exclaimed. "What is that supposed to prove? Do you know me at all?" He threw his hands in the air.
Theo lay on his back and looked at the ceiling. "Of course I know you, Malfoy. You're stubborn, proud, spoiled, and one of my best friends. And, that is precisely why you need to listen to me."
"But-" Draco interrupted.
"And, Malfoy," Theo continued, "you're actually a lot like Granger, keeping your walls up all the time. She was honest with you. She told you things that were intimate and evidently what she never told anyone else before." Theo sat up. "Time for Draco Malfoy to do the same! Of course, she may not want to listen to anything you say, though."
"But-but-why?" Draco stuttered. "What's the point of it? I thought you said she didn't matter!"
"She matters to you, Malfoy," Theo smirked. "You love her."
Draco was speechless. "Wha-wha-" He stammered.
Theo won.
Authors Note: I freaking love Theo.
