~Warzone, The Wanted
Liam’s POV
Molly said she had to leave again at around twelve on the Saturday again. She’s been ringing ‘Jer’ a lot still…
A month ago I would have said there was no way Molly would cheat on me. But she’s been leaving early for the past two weeks, and she’d been leaving before that but it wasn’t as frequent; there was also an article about her cheating on me in a magazine, the phone calls with the mysterious ‘Jer’. I know I shouldn’t believe what the magazines say… but I can’t help it. I love her, I really do, and if she’s having an affair with this ‘Jer’ I don’t know how I’ll cope.
I got an idea and whilst Molly was getting her bag ready; she didn’t bother saying goodbye to me anymore, because I didn’t reply or even acknowledge her. She left the apartment promptly. I pulled on my shoes and quickly followed her, making sure I wasn’t seen.
She walked into the café near my apartment; we’d walked past it a couple of times, but never been in it. I frowned and stayed where I was for a while, she didn’t leave. I walked over to the bench opposite the café and sat there for a while, soaking up the unusual but great English sun. I watched for a while people began walking in. At about two o’clock an elderly woman walked out and across the street and sat next to me.
“You must be Jeremy,” She smiled at me.
“Excuse me?” I frowned.
“I noticed you watching Molly from here,” The woman smiled.
“Oh,” I muttered, not correcting her, I wanted to hear what she said.
“She sings your praises, you know, it’s obvious she loves you,” She smiled fondly at me, and I felt the lump rise in my throat, I just nodded, “Yes, she’s forever talking about you, she gets so excited when you ring her, and ask to meet up.”
“Uh-huh,” I muttered.
“Don’t waste your time out here, go in there and talk to her, she’ll be so happy to see you,” The elderly woman smiled, clueless. “Well, I must go, the bingos starting soon,” The woman patted my arm and hobbled off. I thought carefully about what she had said.
I should speak to Molly. It’s been coming for a while now, and I can’t put it off any longer. I walked over the road to the café slowly, dragging out the time as long as possible. This is it. This is crunch time. The moment I get all my answers. I just hope it’s the answers I want to hear, not what I fear hearing. This reminds me of our song ‘Tell Me A Lie’. I wish she would tell me a lie, and tell me what I want to hear, not the truth.
I stood outside the door for a while, wondering what I was going to say. Should I go in? Should I talk to her later? Should I pretend I don’t know? I took a deep breath and made my decision; I placed one hand on the door and pushed it open, hearing the bell tinkle above me, signalling to everyone I had entered the café.
No going back now.
Molly’s POV
It had been three weeks now, one week since I first met Eleanor, we’d met up a couple of times since, she’d even come in to the café one morning to talk to me. My shift was almost over for the day, which I was happy about; Chloe had invited me for a drink after work, and I had agreed to go, Eleanor was going to join us as well. I heard the bell ring and I walked back over to the till, to serve the costumer. “Hello, how can I help you?” I asked then looked up, “Liam?” I gasped, looking at him with wide eyes.
“Molly, we need to talk,” Was all he said.
“I’ll be fine on my own Molly, you can speak in the back,” Chloe suggested from beside me.
“Thank you,” I whispered and she smiled reassuringly.
“Anytime,” She nodded. We walked silently into the back room of the café.
“How could you do this to me Molly?” Liam asked quietly.
“What?” I frowned, confused to what he was speaking about. What had I done? He was the one who had ignored me for the past weeks.
“I trusted you, I loved you,” He whispered and there was no mistaking the pain on his face. In a way I’d prefer him to shout at me, it tore me apart to see him like this. And I couldn’t mistake the past tense in his speech, ‘trusted’ and ‘loved’.
“Liam, I can honestly say, I have no clue what you’re talking about,” I sighed.
“Don’t lie to me Molly; please, I know you’re cheating on me!” He shouted holding up the magazine article.
“Liam-“ I tried to explain to him that it was all a pack of lies and Jer was my brother.
“No Molly,” He said harshly, “We’re through!” It felt like he’d ripped my heart out from my chest and shattered it. He stormed out the café and I heard the door slam. My knees went weak and I collapsed on the floor in a heap, sobs racked my throat and tears poured down my face like a never ending waterfall.
“Molly,” Chloe ran in and hugged me, “Is there anyone you want me to call?”
“C-Can you call Jer?” I whispered and she nodded leaving me alone and calling Jeremy. It didn’t take long for him to get here and he ran over to me and pulled me close to him, letting me stain his top with my tears.
“It’s going to be fine Mol,” Jer whispered soothingly in my ear.
“H-How Jer? I love him! And he’s left me! He doesn’t love me anymore! Nothing’s ever going to be fine again,” I cried harder.
“Molly, let’s get out of here; will you be okay on your own Chloe?” Jer asked.
“Sure, I’ll close up on my own, it’s fine,” She smiled reassuringly, “Just get her home, make sure she’s okay.”
“I will, don’t worry,” Jeremy nodded and helped me stand up.
“No,” I muttered as we walked over to his car.
“What?” Jeremy frowned looking at me.
“I want to go back to the apartment,” I said, pulling away from Jeremy.
“Molly,” He sighed and I knew he was going to protest, so I cut him off.
“Yes Jer, I need to do this,” I said running away from him, vaguely aware he was following me. I pushed open the door as I got to the apartment.
“Liam!” I shouted, “Liam! Liam!” I repeated his name looking around the flat, but he wasn’t anywhere to be seen. I collapsed on the bed, hugging his shirt to my chest, breathing in his scent.
“I need him Jer,” I whispered, “I need him.”
“I know Molly, I know,” He whispered and held me close to him again.
“I love him… I love him… I love him,” I repeated over and over again.
“Oh Molly, honey, everything’s going to be alright,” Eleanor ran over to me and enveloped me into a big hug.
“Stop saying that, it’s not going to be alright, it will never be alright!” I shouted jumping up, blinded with anger, “Just leave! I don’t want you here!”
“Molly,” Jer pleaded.
“Go now!” I screamed and Eleanor took Jeremy’s hand and pulled him out the flat. Once again I collapsed on the floor in tears, eventually dragging myself into the bed and crying myself to sleep.
Liam’s POV
I called a taxi to pick me up and told him to take me.
“I can't believe I had to see, the girl of my dreams cheating on me,” Warzone by The Wanted blared from the driver’s radio.
“Can you turn that off please?” I asked.
“Sure,” The guy muttered and switched it off. I breathed a sigh of relief. The guy dropped me off outside Molly’s house and I walked in. Suddenly regretting going in so heavy, I should have listened to Molly, there must be a logical reason for all of this.
“What’s up mate?” Niall asked as I walked through the door.
“I just broke it off with Molly,” I sighed, burying my head in my hands.
“What? Why?” The girls shrieked standing up; obviously worried about their friend.
“She’s cheating on me,” I muttered.
“She would never do that, she loves you Liam! You idiot!” Beth shouted angrily.
“It’s been going on for ages!” I shouted back.
“No! You must have got it wrong!” Lauren snapped, and Harry held her back as she went to lunge at me.
“Where is he?” A guy growled storming in the house, and then suddenly I was pinned against the wall, “What the hell have you done to her?! She’s in tears over some prat like you!”
“Who are you?” I frowned.
“Jeremy is she okay?” Sophia asked.
“Jeremy?” I glared at him, so this is the guy who ruined my relationship.
“Molly would never, never, cheat on you! She loves you! What is wrong with you?! How could you do this to her?” Jeremy shouted in my face.
“I haven’t done anything!” I shouted angrily.
“You’ve broken her heart!” He shouted as the Zayn, Harry and Louis tried to pull him off me. Niall was just standing at the back, making sure none of the girls started on me as well.
“She cheated on me!” I hissed.
“No! She didn’t!” He shouted back.
“How would you know?” Niall asked quietly.
“I’m her brother! Of course I’d know!” Jeremy rounded on Niall.
“B-Brother?” I choked out in shock.
“Yes! Who else would I be?” He snapped.
“Jer, perhaps we should leave them, we’re getting nowhere, and Molly needs you,” Eleanor said taking Jeremy’s hand. I’d only just realised she was there.
“Yeah, no thanks to him! My little sister is crying into your clothes right now, in your apartment; crying over something as pathetic as you.” Jeremy spat out.
“I need to talk to her,” I muttered. What had I done? I’ve ruined everything!
“No! You’re staying away from her,” Jeremy shouted.
“She’s my girlfriend!” I shouted; instantly regretting me reply as Jeremy’s face went red with anger.
“You just left her!” He roared and the next thing I knew his fist collided with my lip and I stumbled backwards into the wall. He went to hit me again but the boys pulled him back and pushed him out the house.
“I’m so sorry,” Eleanor whispered and I nodded, still in a bit of a shock. She shot me an apologetic look and hugged me.
“I’ll keep Jer from the apartment, you’ve got one hour,” She whispered in my ear and then hurried out the house after Jeremy. I mentally thanked Eleanor and waited five minutes before I ran out the house and hopped in the first taxi I saw and went back to my apartment.
“Molly!” I shouted running in the house. I went into my bedroom and saw her half asleep on the bed.
“L-Liam?” She stuttered sitting up and swaying a little.
“Molly, I’m so sorry! I got it so wrong!” I gushed running to her side. She smiled at me, “I know you didn’t cheat on me, it was just I saw the article and you were going out so much. I’m so so sorry Molly.”
“Liam, you should never believe stuff that is said in magazines or newspapers,” She giggled, “And as for me being away so often, I have a job. I just didn’t tell you… and for that I’m sorry.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Why what?” She frowned.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had a job?” I whispered.
“Because you wouldn’t have understood,” She said simply.
“Then help me to understand Molly,” I pleaded, “Talk to me.”
“I’ve been taking driving lessons for the past few months,” She started.
“And you needed the money to pay for them?” I cut in.
“No, I could pay for them,” She sighed, “I was taking my driving test… and a dog ran out in front of the road… I swerved out the way and crashed the car.”
“Are you okay?” I asked; suddenly concerned.
“I’m fine, it was three weeks ago now,” She shrugged.
“So, what do you need the money for?” I asked, confused.
“I need to pay for the damage on the car,” She sighed. And in a way I became more confused.
“You could have just asked, I’d have given you the money,” I tried to make my voice strong, but I was over-whelmed by emotions and sounded a little hurt.
“I know you would have, which is why I didn’t tell you Liam. I love you, and I know you would have given me the money, but I want to be able to do this by myself, I need to do this for myself. I can’t live my life by borrowing from you Liam,” She tried to explain best she could.
“Molly, I just wish you’d have told me,” I sighed and hugged her tightly.
“It’s embarrassing Liam, I crashed a car,” She shook her head.
“So, Jeremy,” I started after a moment of silence.
“Is my brother,” She clarified, laughing lightly.
“Really?” I asked; why hadn’t she told me she had a brother? I had to find out by him pinning me against a wall in anger; great first impressions.
“No, I’m lying, Jeremy’s my secret lover,” She said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Okay, stupid question,” I chuckled.
“Yes, yes it was,” She giggled.
“So, is he really dating Eleanor?” I asked after a pause; they looked pretty cosy.
“Yeah, we’ve met up a couple of times, she’s really nice,” She nodded, “Does Louis know?”
“I guess, they both came to your house earlier, but he’ll be fine, he has Beth,” I smiled, “And I have you.” I smiled and kissed her.
“I’m going to take you out tomorrow night,” I said suddenly having an idea.
“I’m going to have to go shopping,” She said after a moment, in which I guess she was looking through her wardrobe in her mind.
“Okay, well, I’ll pick you up a five tomorrow,” I smiled and kissed her cheek, “But you look shattered, so get some sleep.”
“Only if you get in the bed with me,” She pouted.
“If you insist,” I grinned and we both climbed in the bed.
“Today has been eventful,” She sighed.
“Indeed,” I agreed and it wasn’t long until I heard Molly’s soft, even breathing; signalling to me she was asleep. I slipped out the bed and rang Harry.
“Hey Harry I need your help,” I said, smiling down at Molly’s sleeping figure.
