Chapter 24

Damon's POV

"No supernatural killings to report?" I asked Jeremy as I entered his room.

Jeremy was fixing his suit preparing for the prom. "None, so far. You think Bonnie put up the veil?" He asked.

I leaned against his doorframe. "If she did we wouldn't be running around prom waiting for some angry vampires to attack." I said then push away. "You look nice. Shabby." I smirked.

"Very funny." Jeremy looked over at me. "Aren't you a little.. old?" He asked.

"I'm never old to take a girl dancing." I smirked and Elena passes me walking over to Jeremy.

"Jer. I really don't think you should go to the prom." Elena said.

"Why?" Jeremy questioned her.

"Kol is going to be there. And last time we saw him, we killed him." Elena sighed. "And I don't want you to get hurt."

"I wont. I promise." Jeremy reassured her. "Now we should get going." He said pushing elena to the door. Elena pulled a smile.

"Fine since Caroline keeps blowing up my phone." Elena said as she headed down the stairs with Jeremy. I crossed my arms and went down with them into the livingroom.

Lexi's POV

I put on the dress and stood infront of my mirror in my room. My long brown hair curled down to my waist. The long flowly purple dress...Prom. My lips curved into a huge grin.

I was human for once... prom. After all the stuff that happened in my life. This one experience of being human..... was perfect.

Flashback

I let the tears fall as blood was covered on my arms and my lips. "I... I ... killed her... I .." I paniced. I shook my head and turned to Mikael.

"It's normal, there's nothing we can do. She's dead!" Mikael tried to calm me down. First day of immortality and it was all wrong.

I pushed him away and got up running away from the blood but I was almost out of the town as I used vampire speed. I slowed down and stop at a small builten house. A girl comes out and looks at me with a smile. She was wearing a long gown... pure white with her blonde hair by her sides.

"All you alright, miss?" She questions.

I walked up to her looking into her eyes "I'm all right. Now tell me why you are wearing such a beautiful clothing."

She looks at her dress with a smile then at me. "Well, tonights the traditional feast. I'm going with my new husband to dance, it's always been my dream to dance byside my love ever since I was a little girl." She smiles.

I tried to pull a weak smile at her but fails to do so. "You look beautiful..."

"Why thank you." She bows slightly then I looked into her eyes.

Flashback ENDED

And it was my turn to dance.... I hurried down the stairs and went along side to Prom.

Kol's POV

I pushed Bonnie against the locker. "You are going put down the veil entirely!" I shouted.

She eyed me making me fall to my knees. "You do not order me around. I'm stronger than you." She said as she started walking away. I blurred infront of her.

"I want to be alive." I growled.

"Come with me Kol." She sighed walking into the a room.. a boiler room.

"What are we doing here?"

"There." She points out. I look down seeing her body. I look up. "I died Kol... I want to live. . I want to go to college. I want to grow old and have a family. "

I pulled a small smirk . "Then join me, put down the veil--" Suddenly a large invisible wall hit me as I try to reach her. "I THOUGHT YOU WANT TO PUT DOWN THE VEIL.''

"I do." She agrees. "But we all don't get what we want." She says leaving. 

"BONNIE! LET ME OUT! GET BACK HERE!"  I shouted banging on the invisible wall. "NOOO!"  

Jeremy's POV

I walked inside the Prom with Elena, Stefan, and Damon. "Let's dance." Stefan held a hand out to Elena. Elena pulled a smile and gladly accepted by putting her hand in his. They wondered off onto the dancefloor.

I walked over to grab a drink and Damon followed me. "Keep an eye out on anyone suspicious." Damon said

I rolled my eyes. "Bonnie is bringing the veil back up tonight. We shouldn't worry about anything." I said grabbing my 'fruit punch' and taking a sip watching everyone dance.

"Well, until witchy puts up the veil we are too keep eyes open. Especially some certain originals." He says. I watched my eyes drift around until I saw a familiar face... long curly flowly hair, long light purple dress, and her eyes gazing over at me with a smile.

"I think i found someone." I said as a small smile grew on me. But Damon already left walking towards her. My smile faded as I watched Damon talking to her then put out his hand. Lexi couldn't resist and took his hand as she was led to the dancefloor for a slow dance.

I nodded. "Of course..." I whispered and just took a sip of my drink.

She laughed along with Damon as she was twirled and dipped but Damon's strong arms held her as he raised her back to the slow dance. Every couple seconds Lexi would glance at me but I ignored her glances. Everything was slow, Stefan and Elena smiling at each other, Matt and Rebekah dancing, Bonnie chatting with April, and... Lexi laughing with Damon as they danced together.  And I'm left here alone... heart broken.

I put down the drink and walked out of the Prom.. away from the music but it still caught my ears as I watched the large tv screens pull up pictures of memories. Then one picture came up of me hugging Lexi in the hallway. It had to be Damon she loves more. There she was dancing with him... laughing... and here I am looking at the pictures full of memories that I had with her. Yes, I made a huge mistake but... if only we can try one last time.

Lexi's POV

"You are still quiet the charmer in dancing." I let out a small laugh as he dipped me.

"I always am." Damon smirked pullling me up. I looked into his blue eyes as he put his hand further down to my waist. I raised an eyebrow. "I remember a lot of things about you... like this.." He leans in about to give me a kiss. I want to put my lips on his , to feel that fast running heartbeat I haven't felt in a long time, to confirm that it was Damon all along. I wanted it to be Damon. His lips slowly closing in his gap... slowly there was no light between us. My eyes drifted seeing Jeremy wasn't where he was, my eyes caught up seeing him leave through the doors. I slowly pulled away from Damon.

"I'll be right back." I said and started following where Jeremy left to. I saw him turn a corner far in the distance and I ran catching up but soon stopped seeing him stand infront of a large tv screen. Many of them but he stood watching the picture... of us.  I  took steps closer to him.  "Jermery?"

He turned around by the sound of his name. "Lexi." He says almost surprised. "What are you doing out here?"

"I could ask you the same. " I let a small smile and looked at the picture he was looking at. "I remember that picture. When we first met by the lockers..." I said pulling the memories.

"yeah..." He said silently. There was a long silence. "You should probably get back to Damon. " He insisted.

"Why do you insist I go back to Damon?" I raised an eyebrow. "I haven't gotten to dance with you yet?" I pulled a smile.

He couldn't help but pull a smile too. "I'm not a great slow dancer."

"It's better than nothing." I smiled and grabbed his hand pulling him to a grassy area but the music was still in reach. He put his hand on my waist and I wrapped my arm around his neck. I looked into his brown eyes, he twirled me as I let out a giggle. "I miss this..." I admit. As he twirled me he brought me into his chest as his we continued to dance.

"I miss this too..." He whispers with a smile. "But I'm glad I'm dancing with you even if I suck at dancing."

"You're not half bad. I think I danced with worse." I let out a laugh as he rolled his eyes. He slowly pulled me in as we just stared into each others eyes. Feeling the cool breeze, the nice warm loving between us. Everything was perfect.

"I don't want to be a the guy that hurts you." He says pulling away.

"Then don't." I said pulling him back. "Be the guy I need.. right now."

"I'm sorry Lexi but... -"

"You are a terrible person. You killed Kol, you use me, you're human that kills vampires, and you make me fall in love with you. But I'm not going to be sorry that I loved you. And this is probably the worse choice I'm going to take, my dad's going to kill me but... I choose you Jeremy. I love you." I said pulling him closer to me.

He looks at me shocked. "You.." He leans in as I nodded.

"Never once in my life have I wanted to be human. The power of being a hybrid, I didn't want to throw it away.. until you came... and I can't help but fall over in love with you." I whispered. He pulled a grin smashing his lips against mines.
