Chapter 24

Tendou sat on their bed, waiting for Ushijima who's currently taking a bath. He sighed and looked at the message he received from his dad. He only left it on read and put his phone down, he's not planning to reply on any of his dad's messages. He already made up his mind that he won't talk to him anymore.

He sighed again and laid flat on their bed staring at the ceiling. He only turned around when he heard their bathroom door open, and Ushijima walked out with only a towel wrapped around his waist. He smiled.

"Hi sexy." Tendou said sitting up.

Ushijima smiled and shook his head as he wore his boxers.

"Come here, let me dry your hair."

Ushijima walked towards him and sat on the floor, Tendou took the towel and started drying off Ushijima's hair. Ushijima rested his head on Tendou's lap and closed his eyes as Tendou dried his hair.

"Cinnamon--"

"Hmm?"

"Do you really not want to see your dad again?"

"Yes."

Tendou simply said and continued on what he's doing. Ushijima turned around so that their facing each other.

"Why?"

Tendou frowned. "I already told you Wakatoshi-kun, I don't want to see him again. I don't want to talk to him again."

"But what i----"

"I'm tired. Let's sleep, your hair is dry now." Tendou said, cutting him off. He climb back on their bed, his back facing Ushijima.

Ushijima got up and turned off the ligh before he went on his side of the bed  and laid down, he moved closer to hug Tendou.

"Are you mad? I'm sorry."

Tendou turned away from him and did not give him any reply.

"Cinnamon, I'm sorry."

"Let's sleep Wakatoshi-kun. Goodnight."

Ushijima sighed. "Goodnight."

The next following days, Ushijima noticed that Tendou's father called him again but this time Tendou declined the call. He kept on declining the calls from his father, he also won't reply on the messages that his father sent and somehow Tendou got annoyed from all the calls and messages he received and its starting to get on his nerves.

"Tendou?"

"Yes Wakatoshi-kun?"

They are currently inside the baking room, baking cakes when Tendou's phone vibrated, another message from his dad.

"What did your father said?"

"I don't know."

"You didn't read his messages?"

"No."

Tendou said as he continue to mix the flour.

"Did you try reading one of his message?"

"Yes, last night. He just asked me if I'm doing okay and asked me if it's okay to talk." He said putting down the batter that he's holding. "Look, Wakatoshi-kun can we not talk about him?" 

"Why?" Ushijima. "Tendou maybe he---"

"I already told you that I don't want to see him again! I don't want to talk to him. Why do you keep on insisting that we should meet?!" Tendou snapped.

"You wouldn't understand the feeling of getting disliked by your own father anyway."

"I do understand what if feels like getting disliked by your own parent. My mother disliked me Tendou."

Ushijima's answer made Tendou shut his mouth.

"We should finish what we're doing. I'm sorry for always asking you to meet with your dad." Ushijima said and turned his back on Tendou and got back on baking.

Tendou also did the same. The atmosphere between them became awkward, they were quiet the entire time until they finished baking the cakes. When he finally put it inside the oven he decided to talk to Ushijima but Ushijima got a call so he went out first and left Tendou inside.

Miko and the customers looked at Ushijima who just walked out from the baking room and after a few seconds Tendou followed.

"Tendou-san is everything okay?" Goshiki asked when Tendou went out.

Tendou nodded at them. He also looked at the customers  and apologized for making a ruckus.

"Did he went upstairs?"

Goshiki and Miko nodded so he went upstairs. He saw Ushijima and directly went to him.

"Hey, uhm, I'm sorry for taking it out on you. I didn't mean to say those words." Tendou apologized and hugged him.

"It's okay. I'm sorry if I keep on insisting that you meet with your dad." Ushijima said.

Tendou looked at him, "Why do you want me to meet with my dad so much?"

"I just think that, maybe, he wanted to talk to you and fix your relationship or maybe he want to say something important ." Ushijima sat on the couch and pulled Tendou with him, making him sit on his lap.

Tendou thought of it for a minute before sighing, he leaned closer, his forehead pressing on Ushijima's. "Okay, I'll think about it Wakatoshi-kun."

Ushijima nodded and closed the gap between them with a kiss and then burried his face on the crook of Tendou's neck.

Weeks have passed after their talk but Tendou still didn't talk with his dad. Tendou also noticed that Ushijima stopped telling him to meet with his dad. But he already thought about what Ushijima said.

He was at the counter, attending the customers when his phone rang.

"You can answer it, I'll swap with you." Ushijima said.

Tendou took his phone and went to the staff room. He looked at the caller's ID and saw his father's name. He took a deep breathe and clicked the answer button.

"Son."

He didn’t talked.

"Are you free? I'm in Tokyo. Can we meet?"

"If you want to say something, then say it, you're already talking to me."

"I want to say it in personally."

Tendou let out a sigh. "Okay, if you really want to talk face to face, then you can come in the café that I'm working, but only when we're already close so that there are no other customers."

"Okay son."

"We close at 8 pm. I'll send you the address of the café."

"Okay, thank you son."

Tendou ended the call and sent his father the address of their café. Maybe he will get bored and go home, it's still 3 pm. He will definitely not  waste his precious time waiting.

But that's what Tendou thought.

They were about to close the café when Tendou saw his dad standing outside the café. He looked at Ushijima, Ushijima nodded at him.

"Do you want me to go upstairs first?"

"Is it okay if you stay?"

He can see that Tendou is nervous so he held his hand and nodded.

Ushijima went to the door and told Tendou's dad to come inside.

"You must be Ushijima." Tendou's father said and looked at him, "Thank you."

Tendou's dad sat on the chair opposite to his son and Ushijima. 

"What do you want to say?" Tendou said, trying his best not to breakdown.

This is their first meeting since he left their house and that was months ago. He scanned his father's face, it looks like he's not getting enough sleep. Well, maybe it's because of his work.

His father looked at him. "How are you son?"

"I'm doing fine, not until you started contacting me."

He knew that he sounded rude, he also want to talk to his father but the anger that he felt towards him is greater.

"Satori, I'm sorry." He reached on Tendou's hand, Tendou wanted to pull away but his father won't let go of him. "I know that my actions and the words that I said caused you so much pain. I'm sorry. I'm sorry son."

Tendou keep quiet but tears are threatening to flow down his face.  Ushijima gave him a reassuring squeeze on his lap.

"I'm sorry that it took me so long to apologize to you. I won't ask for your forgiveness because I know it's impossible to forgive someone like me, but I hope, you will accept my apology."

These are the words that Tendou longed to hear from his dad and now that he finally heard it, he started crying.

Ushijima feels like he should change seats with Tendou's dad so he asked him and now they're sitting beside each other.

"Do you know how long I waited to hear these words from you dad?" He said between his sobs.

"I know, I'm so sorry for taking so long to apologize." He said and hugged Tendou. Tendou hugged him back, burying his face on his father's chest as he cried his heart out. Tendou's father also cried as he hugged his son.

When Tendou left their house he thought that he will still come back, because he alwayd did. But months later, when his son didn't came back he started to get worried, he  checked on his social media accounts but there are no updates about him, he tried contacting him through his phone but it said that the number was no longer used. During the months that he was not able to get in touch with his son, he started realizing and regretting the things that he did towards Tendou.

One day, while he was attending a court hearing in Tokyo he saw Tendou together with Ushijima. He wanted to go to him, but he didn't have the courage to face his son. He was so embarrassed about the things that he did to him. When he already mustered up his courage that's where he started calling Tendou. He already knew that it wouldn't be easy getting him to agree to talk but he never gave up, he already made up his mind that he will apologize to his son. So he tried calling him and leaving him a message.

When he called him earlier, he was prepared for another rejection but he was shocked when Tendou said that he's willing to talk. He was so happy when his son finally gave him the chance to meet.

Ushijima who's watching them stood up to get some water, when he came back both of them already calmed down. He saw Tendou's dad wiping his son's face and somehow it made him smile.

Tendou already forgave his dad but he still needs time to not be awkward around him, his dad also felt the same. Since they are really not close with each other, so they still need time to get used to it. But Tendou is happy that finally, his relationship with his dad was fixed.

"I should get going now, it's getting late and it looks like you two still need to close the café." Tendou's father said.

"Sir what about your dinner?" Ushijima asked.

"I already ate before I went here."

"Where are you staying dad?"

"I'm staying at a hotel, but I'm going home tomorrow."

"Stop by here before you go back to Miyagi."

Tendou's dad nodded.

"Oh, right. Ushijima, thank you so much for taking care of my son."

Ushijima smiled at whag he said. "Don't worry sir, he's in good hands."

Tendou's father chuckled. "Yeah, I know."

He was about to leave when Tendou knocked on his father's car window to ask a question. "By the way dad, where did you get my number?"

"I asked one of your friend..."

"Who?"

"I think his name was Goshiki."

"Oh, okay. Then, goodbye dad. Take care, stop by tomorrow okay?"

"Okay son."

"Goodnight."

His dad smiled. "Goodnight son." he said and closed his window.

Ushijima and Tendou waited until the car was out of their sight before they came back inside the café. Tendou immediately hugged Ushijima, rightly.

"Thank you Wakatoshi-kun." He whispered.

Ushijima smiled and rubbed Tendou's back. "I'm glad everything turned out well." he said cupping Tendou's face and trailed a kiss starting from his forehead, to his puffy eyes, his nose, his cheeks and to his lips, making Tendou smile.

When they finished closing the café they went upstairs.

"By the way, I'm going to talk to Goshiki tomorrow."

Ushijima chuckled.

Meanwhile at Goshiki's apartment.

"Bless you." Miko said when Goshiki sneezed.

"Wah, I suddenly got chills. Maybe something bad will happen tomorrow."

"Ha ha or maybe, Tendou-san already found out that you gave his number to his dad without his permission."

"I'm so dead tomorrow. Miko, help me explain  tomorrow please." Goshiki pouted and hugged Miko.

Miko just laughed. "I'll think about it."
