Chapter 24

I stand up and go to see the pilots view. They let me see and I immediately remember we are really high.

I leave back to where everyone else is. A guy, I think his name is Boggs, and Gale are talking about strategy.

I go over and see a map it has a few red dots on it.

"What are those?" I ask pointing at the red dots.

"Those are pods. They set off traps so we can't get to far into the capital. But now we know were they are we can avoid them at least all the ones we have on here." Boggs says casually.

"Does the capital know we have it?" I ask.

"No, if they did they would change the pods and we would really be screwed." Gale says

"What do we do if they get it?" I ask.

"Say night lock three times and it will self destruct." Boggs says.

"What if someone accidently says it three times?" I say.

"That won't happen."Gale says.

"Ok, ok. Where is the mockingjay anyway?" I say looking around for Katniss.

"She's already there" Boggs says.

"So they sent her there early?" I ask

"Something like that." Gale says

"Um...okay." I say not convinced at all.

I leave them to continue planning knowing my questions were getting in the way. So instead I go to talk Finnick.

He leans against the side of the plane staring at the opposite side of the plane.

"So how is Annie?" I ask.

"She is good." He answers.

"Was she upset when you told her about leaving here?"

"I didn't tell her. I didn't know how."

"She is gonna be so upset when she hears about it."

"Yeah, did you tell your brothers."

"Nope they told me."

"When did u hear about it?"

"Yesterday."

"Same."

"Jacob was all mad. He almost exploded." I say jokingly.

"He looked so upset."

"Did you see him?"

"Yeah he came over last night."

"Why?"

"He told me to keep an eye on you."

"He treats me like I am four."

"He is just worried."

"What for? I have won the hunger games and have survived the capital twice. He has nothing to worry about."

"Your his little sister. If I had a little sister I wouldn't let her out of my sight. I would be so overprotective."

"But I am already fifteenth."

"So?"

"So I am old enough to take care of myself."

"He is still allowed to be worried."

"But why does he have to be."

"Look Aina, both your brothers love you. Jacob is more protective because he knows what it is like to lose a family. He doesn't want to lose his new one."

This is probably true. Jacob's whole family died when he was six. My oldest brother found him running from the orphanage when he was 10.

He took him in even though we had barely enough food for all of us. He had to see his new family die one by one.

Me and Luca are the last people he has. And I could see why he wouldn't want to lose it. And plus all my brothers always were over protective over me. They said it was because I looked just like my mom well all of them looked like my dad.

Jacob was probably more laid back compared to the rest of them. Until the reaping for the quarter quell of course.

"Yeah I guess your right." I say

"Of course I am."

I smile.

"You know, you mean a lot to Annie."

"Really?"

I am suprised because we have barely talked since her wedding.

"Yeah she says your the closest to a little sister she ever had."

"Well she is the closest to a sister I have ever had."

"Thanks for helping her when she was in the capital."

"No problem. Like I said she is practically my sister."

"You sang her that song. She talks about it a lot. She says she never understood what it meant but all she new was it was nice."

"It was in Spanish an old mostly abandoned language. My family has been very content on keeping it around though."

"You speak it?"

"Si."

"I'll take that as a yes."

"Yep. We teach everyone we can. So when our family dies out the launguage won't die with us."

"I think I could pick it up easy."

"Maybe. Learning a launguage is tough. Just ask Jacob."

"Did he learn?"

"Yeah my older brother Henry made everyone in the house speak only Spanish until he picked it up."

"That must have been funny."

"Believe me, it was halarious. Did your family have any traditions?"

"Well, we used to go fishing a lot. But that was more of a job."

"Is that how you got so professionally good at it."

"Yep"

"I was meaning to say. I hope you don't mind me asking but, you know how the capital sold you. Did they do that to my brothers."

"No. Your brothers may be quite the lookers but in their games they were short tempered and they didn't want them to go off. But I am pretty sure they would have started putting you on the market this year or next year if they were given the chance."

"Really." I say my voice sounding small.

"Yeah you got the looks and your personality is perfect for it. They wouldn't have hesitated."

"My brothers would have killed them."

"If they tried they would have killed them or maybe you."

"Oh, that's horrible."

"Good thing your so small."

"I am not!"

"You are mini."

"I prefer travel sized."

"I don't know why they even let you into this thing."

"Because I went through training and passed."

"But your only fifteen."

"Or I am already fifteen."

"Okay. I think we are getting there."

"Oh gosh here comes the nerves."

"Be ready. We are landing." Boggs says.

We get off and we are greeted by a bunch of soldiers.

Katniss looks at me and looks up at Boggs.

"Why did they send a child?" She asks angrily.

"I finished training like every else." I say

"Yeah but your so little. You have so much more to live for."

"Who said I was dying."
