Chapter 2

It is the day of the reaping. I go to my closet and just throw on some jeans and a random tshirt.

After I am done changing I go into the kitchen. I see everyone up all looking anxious.

Luca is making some scrambled eggs well everyone sits in silence at the table. Adrain looks at me and says, "Nice outfit."

"Thanks picked it out just for the capital."

Adrian lets out a small laugh knowing that I won't change into anything nicer. I can tell Noah is boiling mad.

After a few moments in silence he says, "We need to talk about this. I swear she is only 14, she would be the youngest there. Everyone else is at least 17 they will have an unfair advantage."

Zack laughs the moment he says advtage. "Most of them haven't had a day of training in years. Aina here has literally been practicing to perfect her hunting and survival skills since she was three and never stopped practicing after the games like the rest of them have so I am very confident she'll win."

"If she even gets picked that is." Luca adds

I am grateful for my brothers trying to make me feel better. I quickly eat my eggs and everyone else gets ready for the games.

We are getting ready to leave and Zack throws me a random leather jacket. I throw it on and we leave to the reaping.

Well we walk over we joke around anything to keep our minds from the possible doom that awaits me in the near future.

Once we get there Adrain says, "If you get reaped you better win or else I will personally beat you up."

I laugh and say, "I promise I'll be careful."

Luca was sure he wouldn't get picked and had already said he would volunteer to keep me safe.

I begged him not to but he had his heart set on it.

Everyone is saying their last goodbyes because we know if we get reaped they will refuse to go in to talk to us because they wouldn't be able to take it.

The peacekeepers notice us and start to walk towards us to rush us into the reaping. We give each other a group hug.

Noah says, "Hey if one of you guys win another house I want it."

We laugh and are rushed by the peacekeepers to go in. We walk in with the other tributes.

They all are wearing pretty outfits well I am there in my jeans and tshirt. I felt out of place and the height difference didn't help either.

I smile as I walk up not wanting to seem weak or nervous. Luca seems more nervous then me.

I reach up and put my hand on his shoulder trying to comfort him but him being too tall for it to work properly.

He smiles and walks with the boy tributes. His victor friend Jacob stood next to him.

I patiently fake my smile for the capital. Keeping up my bubbly pure girl act I had for the capital, even though me and Heney killed most of the other tributes during our games, I have still been able to pull this act off.

The girl from the Capitol I can never quite remember her name walks up to pick the names.

She looks almost sad. "Ladies first." She says putting her hand in the jar filled with names.

"Aina Telles"

I feel my smile fade and slowly walk up trying to look strong.

Adrain starts to yell "NO AINA. COME ON WHY DOES THE CAPITAL EVEN DO THIS! COME ON SENDING A LITTLE GIRL TO KILL PEOP-"

I told him to stop but it was to late he was laying on the ground a bullet through his head. I push the peacekeepers off me and run to my brother's side.

I beg him to stay even though I know he no longer has a pulse. It feels like when Henry died knowing that they died defending me.

The peacekeepers pick me up and push me to the stage. I walk up wiping a tear away from my face. I wrap my arms around me giving myself a hug.

I see Noah and Zack trying to go to Adrain. Luca yells "NO"

But they already made the mistake of going out him. Noah had a bullet in his side laying on the ground, and Zack with a bullet in his chest.

It is hard for me to even stand. I find myself sinking to the ground. Luca tries to run to me and comfort me but the peacekeepers stop him.

The lady ignored what just happened and pulls the next name out of the jar.

"Luca Telles"

Before he can even move a voice pipes up. It's Jacob.

"I vollenteer as tribute"

Luca tries to stop him but Jacon walks up and helps me to my feet. He pulls me into a hug and says, "Don't worry you will get back to Luca I promise."

I cry into his chest as the peacekeepers rush us to the train not bothering to stop to see if our family wants to see us again. But I can barely care.

Luca is in the train as a mentor and pulls me away from Jacob and to him. He says, "You really didn't have to volunteer bro. I told you not to."

"I couldn't let you or this little girl here go through anything else." He says.

Jacob has always been like another brother to me. He has always been there with my brothers to help me when I was upset.

I realize I had been holding my breathe and take in a deep breath. I hyperventilate and Luca attempts to calm me down.

Once I finally catch my breathe all three of us sit on the couch with a pint of capital ice cream for each of us. Well we watch the other people's reaping.

Speeding through ours because we don't need to see our brothers die again. Luca holds me close to him trying to keep me calm well I try to keep him calm too.

Jacob sits on the other side of me telling us the details of the other tributes we will be facing. I have trained with Jacob before and we get along very well so we have quite a good chance of winning but I know only one of us will.
