My Detective

*Olivia's POV

I wake up to the sound of screaming. In only a t-shirt and panties, I jolt out of bed. I quickly grab a robe ad throw it on as I run to the room where Bradley is. She's curled up in a little ball under the sheets. I can hear her cries grow louder and louder. I sit on the bed next to her and pull her to me.

"Ahh!!", she screams.

"Its okay. It's okay, Bradley.", I try. "It's just me. It's Olivia.", she pulls back the sheets so her upper body is revealed. She's shaking as if she'd just seen a ghost. Her face is beat red and soaked with tears. She practically throws herself on me as she cries.

"He-he-it hurt so bad!", she cries out. "I tried-I tried-"

"Shh. Its okay. You're okay.", I hold her tight in my arms as she continues to sob. After about a half hour, she was calm. She actually wanted to get out of the house, and her request? To go to the precinct.

"Please.", she begs. "I'd rather be there than here..no offence."

"I don't know if that's a good idea.."

"I'll stay out of your way, I swear it.", I sigh, indicating that I've given up and have caved. I first took her to the mall to get some clothes, knowing she needs them. She got a lot of stuff. When we got back home, she changed into a new outfit she got. She put on a pair of black jeans, a white tank top under a dark gray hoodie, a pair of converse and a light gray beanie. She left her hair down, but put on light makeup..thank god.

"You ready, honey?", I casually ask.

"Yep!", I drive us down to the precinct and we got there quicker than it usually seems to take me. WE headed up to the squad room and everyone actually seemed mad that I was back. I go straight to my office to find Fin sitting in my chair while eating donuts.

"What're you doing?", I startled him.

"Uh.."

"Out.", he quickly got out.

"Geez, Liv.", I hear a voice say. Its a voice I love hearing, but because of our jobs, nobody could ever know. Not yet, at least. Bradley had already made herself comfortable on the couch, so he couldn't see her. He shuts the door behind him and comes up behind me. Thank god the blinds are shut. He softly kisses my neck before I stop him.

"Nick..", Bradley shoots up.

"Wait a minute.", Nick stops dead in his tracks. "Nick as in 'my detective', Nick?", I suddenly feel the heat in my cheeks. "It is!"

"Liv? Who's this?", Nick asks in confusion.

"Nick, this is Bradley. Bradley, Nick..my detective. Bradley is the girl I texted you about last night."

"Right."

"Wait, hold on.", Bradley just keeps getting way more excited than she should be. "He's your detective?"

"Mhm."

"As in..you're his boss?", her eyes light up. "Isn't that against some kind of rule?", Nick looks at me with a look I've never seen before.

"And that's exactly why this is a secret. Got it?"

"Swear it.", the door flies open.

"Serg., we got a D.V call.", Rollins tells me.

"Okay.", she stands there a few moments.

"So..?"

"So, do something about it. Don't just stand there.", that didn't come out the way I intended. I run my fingers through my hair in stress. "Take Fin with you, check it out.", I say calmer.

"On it.", she replies.

"Oh, Amanda? Don't forget to fill out those forms today.", Amanda nods and leaves. I knew Nick was about to say something sarcastic, so I stopped him before he could. "Don't. Even. Say it, Nick.", he leans down and kisses my cheek.

"I'm sorry.", he tells me. "Do you still want me to come over tonight?", I look passed him, to Bradley, in search of approval. "Yes..please.", I turn in my chair to meet his gaze. "Tell Carisi to check on the labs from our vic. Okay?", our eyes locking with one another.

"Okay. I love you."

"I love you, too.", our lips peck and then he walks out.

"Awe.", Bradley mocks.

"Secrets!", I remind her.

*Bradley's POV

This guy seems nice. The only reason I like him is because Olivia likes him..and I trust Olivia. At least two hours had passed and Olivia hadn't moved an inch.

"You kind of boring, you know that?"

"I do.", she pulls a folder out and starts looking through it. "But, someone has to do it."

"So you like being in charge of them?"

"Yes.", she motions me to come over to her. "They're my detectives. They're like children."

"Children?"

"Sometimes, I feel like five year olds are more mature than they are..damn it."

"What?", she looks passed me at Nick. "Olivia?", Nick walks in.

"What happened?"

"I need five.", Nick tells her.

"Okay, but why?"

"Maria refuses to let me get Zara next week."

"But that's your week."

"Liv, I know. I just need to call her and-"

"I know. Go.", she sighs.

"Okay.", he leans down and kisses her. "I love you."

"I love you, too.", after he leaves, I start talking. We ended up having a really great conversation. That day, besides the day before, is the best day of my life. I have someone. I'm not alone anymore. I have Olivia, and that's all I need. "Well, its time to go."

"Home?"

"Yeah. Where else?", maybe..an orphanage?

"I don't know, just making sure.", I try to blow it off. She can tell by my tone of voice that somethings isn't right.

"Bradley?", she uses her finger to lift my chin. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I just..when are you gonna send me to another foster home?", she looked as if she was shocked that such a thing would even cross my mind. "This..this is great, but its not gonna last. Nothing good ever lasts."

"Honey, I'm not sending you anywhere."

"Why not?"

"Because, I don't want to.", my mouth falls open in disbelief. Is she kidding? She doesn't really want me. I love it here. I love feeling safe and I love feeling loved. Its too good to be true. "I want you to stay with me."

"But..", tears fill my eyes and begin to fall. "..I'm broken. I have scars.", I sniffle. "Why would you want someone like me?"

"Because, Bradley.", she pulls me into a tight hug that I never want to be released from. "You're important to me. Because I know that your scars, your battles, they don't define you. You are such a wonderful girl. Anyone who doesn't see that is crazy."

"Then the whole world must be completely insane.", I chuckle coldly. "I'm nothing special.."

"Yes, you are. You are very special..to me.", I can't believe she said that. Is she serious? Nick came in the room and I quickly wiped my tears. I look up and see Olivia is doing the very same. But, why?

"Why are two beautiful girls crying?", Nick asks playfully.

"Pep talk.", Olivia tells him. "How is everything with Maria?"

"She uh..she filed.", Olivia jumps from her seat.

"She can't take Zara away from you."

"I'll figure it out. Let's just go home, okay?"

"Bradley?", she holds out her hand in which I place mine. Nick ended up driving us home and stayed for dinner. Olivia said she's gonna make meatloaf.

*Olivia's POV

"Nick, I don't know what to do.", I say as I set the timer on the stove. "She actually thinks that nobody loves her because she has scars."

"Scars?", I make sure Bradley is in her room before I say anything.

"After her father started raping her, she cut herself. They're all over her, Nick. I didn't notice the ones on her arms until I took her to the hospital because she was brushed up so bad."

"Liv..", he puts his hands on my waist and pulls me close to him. "You're doing everything you can to help her. She'll adjust. She trusts you. I see the way she clings to your arm, how she looks at you when she gets scared.", could he be right? Its been two days. Could she really trust me that much? "Everything will be okay.", he kisses my forehead. After we all ate dinner, Nick went back to his place and Bradley went to bed. I stayed up to look over some cases. A few hours had passed and before I knew it, it was 1:00am. I was heading back to my room when I heard screaming.

"MOMMY!!", Bradley screams. I going into her room and before I could react, she screamed again. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry.", she cries. I flipped the light switch and sat next to her. Wait a minute. Did she just call me 'mommy'? No, surely not. She was probably referring to her mother. "He got me again a-an-and I tried to get away but-", she didn't even finish her sentence before she buried her face into me chest and cried. The cry sounded more like screaming.

"Its okay, Bradley. You're safe. I promise you, you're safe.", I coo in her ear.

"Please don't let him get me. Please."

"I'm not letting anything bad ever happen to you again. You hear me?", she nods her head as she continues to sob. She eventually fell asleep in my arms. As I got up, I must've woke Bradley because she grabbed my arm.

"Please, don't leave me.", she got up, half asleep, and held up her arms. You know how children do when they're asking you to pick them up and hold them? It was like that. She's fairly small, so its not like she's very heavy. She jumps up and wraps her legs around my waist and folds her arms around my neck. I walk us back into my bedroom and lay her beside me in bed. She snuggles up to me, facing me, and rests her head on my chest. "Goodnight, Olivia."

"Goodnight, Bradley."

"I love you.", she whispers. She said it. She loves me. The next words that escape my mouth surprise me, but I don't ever regret saying them. I mean it.

"I..I love you, too.", I kiss the top of her head as we lay there in silence until she falls asleep.
