Chapter 44

*Emma's POV*

I cannot believe this is happening to him. Why did he have to get hit? Why did that stupid driver, drive so fast?And he left after he hit Matt. What kind of crazy person does that? He didn't even look to see if everything was alright, which it wasn't. He just left! I was so furious. Now we don't even know who hit him.

I didn't wanna leave the hospital, but we had to. Mom and dad asked me if I wanted to sleep with them in their bed, knowing I wouldn't be able to sleep, but I couldn't do that. They were already exhausted and needed their sleep. I was just gonna keep them awake if I was there. So, I was laying in bed, crying obviously.

Oh Matt, my baby. Why did this have to happen to you? I can't lose you. You're my baby brother. You can't leave me. I need you. Millie needs you. Mom, dad, Rose and Toria need you. Our whole family needs you. Macy needs you. Please wake up!

I fell asleep crying and I woke up crying. I looked at the time and it was already 11 am. I walked downstairs and saw dad sitting on the couch. I sat down next to him.

"Morning tiger. Wanna eat something?" he asked. I could hear in his voice that he'd been crying, as well.

"No thanks. Where's everyone?" I asked.

"Rose and Millie are in kindergarten and mom's sleeping. She couldn't sleep at night"

"Is it Monday today?"

"Yeah"

"Don't I have to go to school?"

"No, we called and told them you aren't coming for the next few days. We figured you aren't in the right state of mind to go" he said.

"Thank you"

"No problem"

"Why couldn't mom sleep at night?"

"You'll have to ask her that"

"Are we going to the hospital?" I asked.

"We're first gonna go to the airport to pick up Macy, as soon as mom wakes up and then we're gonna go"

"Macy's coming?"

"Yeah. We called her this morning and she's on her way. She's gonna stay here for a little while" he said.

Mom came down a few minutes later, with Toria in her arms. She looked exhausted.

"Did you sleep at all?" I asked her.

"Yeah, a little" she said. She handed me Toria and went to the kitchen to eat something.

"You had breakfast?" she asked me.

"No, not in the mood of eating" I said.

"Sweetie, you gotta eat. At least take an apple or something" she said. I took an apple and ate half of it, before dumping it in the garbage. I really don't have an appetite at the moment.

We left to the airport to pick up Macy. She looked tired too and you could see that she'd been crying. We went straight to the hospital from the airport. We went to Matt's room and I burst out crying all over again. Mom and Macy cried, too. Dad tried his hardest to stay strong for us, but it was very hard. We stayed in the hospital the whole day. Dad went to pick up the girls at three. Maddie, nana and grandad came and left again. Rob, Dallas and the kids also came and left again.Rissa and Dave came and left again. And so did Selena and Gabe.

We all talked to Matt the whole time. We cried to him and told him how much we needed him. At seven, dad decided to take the girls home. They didn't really get what was going on anyway and it was too long for them. Besides, they needed to go to bed. At eleven, dad called and said we had to come home to get some sleep. I didn't wanna leave, but we had to, so we left.

We continued the same routine for the next couple of days.

Oh Matt. If you would only wake up already.
