Chapter 41 - (2.6K Words)
21:14, 12 July 2016You walked down the stairs, still blinking sleep from your eyes. Even after your warm shower this morning, you were still tired from staying up so late last night. However, staying up wasn't a total loss. But, that didn't mean you weren't tired, either. At least now, Jiyong was willing to work with you. With him on your side, it would be easier to get through Korea and find your aunt.
After your talk with Jiyong, you hid the keys back on the chandelier in the bathroom. You were prepared to sneak past the kitchen again, but it seemed as though the boys had gone off to bed while you were down talking with Jiyong. So, you made your way up to your room and did your best to try and fall asleep.
That didn't mean that you got any sleep, though. You had tossed and turned all night, waking up every couple of hours from dreams and nightmares, most of which didn't make any sense. There were visions of your family. Your parents, your brother, your aunt, all of them. Pictures of them flashed through your head all night long, and you finally realized how much you missed them.
I'll be out of here soon enough. Then I can finally get back home.
"How can you not remember where you left the keys?" You heard Namjoon's voice echoing from the kitchen. "I had you set them down in plain sight, didn't I? How did you manage to lose them?!"
"Hey, you can't get mad at me for that," Taehyung defended himself. "We were all drinking. I have no idea where I put them, okay? I don't remember anything about last night."
"How can I not be mad?" Namjoon said. "I gave you a simple task with simple directions, and you still found a way to mess it all up!"
They're probably in the kitchen.
You stepped off of the stairs and made your way into the kitchen. You ran your hand through your hair and adjusted your glasses as you walked across the front room. You stopped at the entrance to the kitchen and stared at the mess of boys before you.
Jin looked to be the only one doing anything productive. He was leaning over the counter, making what looked like today's breakfast. Namjoon and Taehyung were both leaned against the counter, each holding a glass of water in their hands. You looked past them and saw Jimin and Hoseok were also in the room. They were both leaning against the wall with their eyes closed and their arms crossed over their chest.
Maybe they should have slept in.
"Good morning," you chuckled, quickly earning a glare from Namjoon.
"Good morning, (Y/N)," Taehyung said, setting his glass of water down on the counter beside him. "Did you sleep okay?"
"Yeah, I did," you lied, faking a smile after the nightmares of your family flashed through your mind again. "What about you?"
"I slept just fine, thank you," Taehyung said. "I, however, am extremely hungover, and I have an awful headache."
"Why are you down here then?" You asked, concern lacing your voice. "You should be resting in your room instead. You'll get over it quicker that way."
"Are you concerned about me? That's cute," Taehyung cooed, causing you to blush and roll your eyes. "I've had to deal with quite a few hangovers, and headaches too, so I think I'll be okay. Thank you for your concern, though."
"Taehyung, shouldn't we go figure out where you left the keys?" Namjoon asked, clearly annoyed at how Taehyung was talking to you. Taehyung's eyes flickered from you to Namjoon, to you again, and then finally rested on Namjoon.
"Right," Taehyung said, his voice changing as he spoke to Namjoon. "We need to go and find them."
Taehyung pushed himself off the counter and Namjoon promptly followed after him. As he turned to leave the room, you caught a glimpse of the large purple bruise covering his right cheek.
"Wait--what the hell happened to you?" You asked, bringing your hand up to your mouth.
"That."
Namjoon pointed at Jimin, who was still peacefully resting against the wall beside Hoseok. Just above his eye socket was a much smaller purple bruise. You nodded in understanding and faced Namjoon again.
"Why? Does it make me look attractive?" Namjoon asked as he smirked and flashed you the bruise.
"You wish," you scoffed and turned your head. "Don't you have some keys you need to go find?"
"So cold," Namjoon grumbled. Taehyung shamelessly covered his mouth and laughed into his palm. To save his embarrassment, Namjoon quickly left the room. Wiping tears from his eyes, Taehyung quickly followed after him.
"Thank you for getting rid of them," Jin said only seconds after they were gone. "They were starting to give me a headache."
"No problem, Jin," you chuckled, earning a smile from him. "How long until breakfast is done?"
"It'll be quite a while," Jin said. "I just started cooking a few minutes ago. It doesn't help that I'm hungover too. I think everybody is."
You looked over at Jimin and Hoseok, then nodded your head in agreement. How any one of them managed to get downstairs was a mystery to you.
"Alright, well if it's going to be a while, then I'm going to go to the infirmary," you said, looking down at the tattered bandages covering your arm. "I'm going to see if Jungkook can replace my bandages for me."
"Take your time," Jin said, moving from the countertop over to the stove. "Nothing too exciting is going to happen while you're gone."
"Maybe something will happen if you wake them up," you chuckled, watching as Jimin and Hoseok shifted on the wall.
With that, you stepped out into the hallway and made your way across the front room. You paused just in front of the door, and lightly knocked twice. You waited for a response, not wanting to bother Jungkook if he was busy. A few seconds later, the door swung open, and you were face to face with Jungkook.
"Hi, (Y/N)," Jungkook said, quickly ushering you inside. "What is it you need? New bandages?"
He's unusually bright and peppy compared to the others. Was he even drinking last night?
You nodded your head and gave him a small smile. He lightly patted your back, then lead you over to one of the empty chairs in the room. You sat down, and Jungkook left you to go and look through a drawer for a bandage roll. You folded your hands in your lap and waited patiently.
You heard somebody clear their throat, and you looked up. Your smile vanished as you saw Yoongi sitting on the edge of his bed, glaring right at you. You quickly looked away and tried to occupy yourself with other thoughts. You could feel Yoongi's eyes continue to pierce through your skin, but you dared not look back at him.
"I'm sorry, I think we ran out the other day," Jungkook said, sliding the drawer shut. "I'm going to go into the kitchen and get one of the backup rolls. (Y/N), Yoongi, can I trust you two to get along?"
"Of course, we will," Yoongi said, giving you a convincing smile. "There's no need to worry about us."
Jungkook turned to you and gave you a questioning look, wondering why you hadn't said anything. You carefully nodded your head and gave him a small smile, as if to say you agreed with Yoongi. Jungkook clapped his hands, satisfied that you had given him an answer. He left his chair, stood up, and walked over to the door.
"I'll be back in just a minute," Jungkook said as he closed the door behind him.
As soon as Jungkook was gone, the room was silent. Neither you or Yoongi moved to say anything. You kept your hands folded neatly in your lap, trying to distract yourself from Yoongi's eyes. Although he wasn't saying anything, he was still staring right at you.
Maybe he'll leave me alone.
"What did you do with my won?"
Nevermind--I spoke too soon.
"I don't have your won," you said, rolling your eyes at him. "Just like I told you yesterday."
"You probably don't have my money anymore," Yoongi said, helping himself to his crutches. "But I bet you had it at some point."
"You don't know that," you defended, shuffling uncomfortably in your seat. "How would I have been able to find the money? I don't even know which room is--"
"That doesn't mean anything," Yoongi shook his head as he stumbled closer to you. "You could have easily been wandering through empty bedrooms and been taking whatever you could find."
"Then you wouldn't be the only one complaining, would you?" you cocked your head. Yoongi stopped moving and furrowed his eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"You would think that I would take something from every room, wouldn't you?" You asked, trying to clarify your point. "If I could find money in one of the rooms, why would I stop there? I might be able to find more in another room. Everybody would be missing something."
"M-Maybe you stopped looking after my room," Yoongi stuttered, his face getting red. "Maybe you only took from me."
Jungkook should be back by now, shouldn't he? Where is he?
"I just said why I wouldn't have done that," you replied, raising an eyebrow. "Why are you so set on blaming me?"
"I'm not very fond of you," Yoongi said, moving closer and closer to you. "Because I've found that whenever something bad happens to me, it's because you did something, or something happened to you. Whenever I get in trouble, it's because of you."
"What are you talking about?" You asked, furrowing your eyebrows.
"You were on the same plane as Jackson," Yoongi said, his voice getting quieter and quieter. "Jackson managed to get away. Jin and I both got in trouble because of that."
"That was probably just a coincidence--"
"Let me finish," Yoongi barked, coming to a stop right in front of you. "You remember when you were there in the kitchen, and I broke up that fight between Hoseok and Taehyung? I got in trouble for breaking them up, but they were fighting over you."
I'm going to find Jungkook.
You got up from your chair and brushed past Yoongi. He grabbed your wrist and pulled you up against him. You tried to wrench your arm away from him, but he was too strong. He held tightly onto your wrist despite your struggles.
"You're not going anywhere," Yoongi growled, pushing you backward into the wall. "You're going to listen to everything I have to say to you whether you want to or not."
He placed his hand just above you on the wall so that you couldn't slip away from him. He held tightly onto your wrist just to make sure that there was no way for you to escape. You carefully nodded at him and waited for him to continue.
"The day that we came here, I got my set of keys taken away from me," Yoongi muttered. "All because you were curious about what was down in the garage. Now, I guess I didn't have to go down with you, but we weren't supposed to get caught, were we?"
"N-No, we weren't," you stuttered.
"Do you remember what happened the night that I broke my leg?" Yoongi asked, moving his hand from your wrist up to your chin. "How about you tell me what happened?"
"Yoongi, I--"
"Tell me what happened," Yoongi's grip on your chin tightened, silencing you.
"We were at dinner," you gasped, trying to get him to stop. "And you got angry and threw your dish. Taehyung got angry because the dish hit me. I had to go to the infirmary with Jungkook. I don't know what else happened, I swear!"
Why isn't Jungkook here yet?!
"I'll tell you what happened. Taehyung broke my leg. He stomped down right on the side of my knee," Yoongi whispered into your ear. "All because I missed him and hit you on accident. My leg is broken because of you. My keys are gone because of you. Namjoon doesn't trust me because of you. Jackson is gone because of you."
"Even if you don't have my money, I can guarantee that it's missing because of something related to you."
"You can't blame all of this on me!" You spat, kicking at Yoongi to get him off of you. He held you against the wall and only moved closer to you.
"You are the single most frustrating person I have ever met," Yoongi continued. "You've taken almost everything away from me in less than a week. Do you understand how close I am to getting kicked out of BTS? I'm not about to let you ruin me."
"Please just let me go--"
"But that's not the worst part," Yoongi ignored you. "The worst part is that no matter how much shit happens to me because of you, I know that deep inside, you're a kind person. You necessarily don't want any of this for me, but it always happens when you're around."
You were silent.
"I'm so confused by it," he said, his grip on your chin growing weaker and weaker. "I'm not quite sure if you're a blessing or a curse, or a little bit of both. But, I do know one thing."
You curiously looked up at Yoongi just in time for him to plant his lips on yours. For a moment, you were completely shocked. You could feel your hearts synchronize while he was pushing himself against you. Yoongi quickly pulled away and pushed himself off of you.
"I needed that," Yoongi said, gathering both of his crutches in his hands. Without another word to you, he stumbled over to the infirmary door and walked out into the hallway.
You stood alone and silent in the room, your hand covering your lips. You took a deep breath and then sat back down in your chair. Not a second later, the door opened. Jungkook closed the door behind him and tossed you the bandage roll.
"Sorry I took so long," Jungkook yawned, scratching his head. "While I was getting the bandages, Jin burnt his hand pretty badly, and I had to stay there and help patch him up."
"Is he going to be alright?" You asked, self-consciously touching your hands together.
"He'll be fine over time," Jungkook said, dismissing your concerns with a wave of his hand. "He might not be able to use his right hand for the next couple of days, so that might be a problem when it comes to cooking."
"Just as long as he'll get better," you said, placing your hands flat on top of your knees.
"Actually, I have a question. Where did Yoongi go off to?" Jungkook asked, grabbing a pair of scissors from a nearby desk. "I passed him in the hallway on my way in, but I wasn't quite sure where he was going."
"I don't know," you shook your head, avoiding eye contact with Jungkook. "He didn't say where he was going. He just left."
"Nothing happened between you two, right?" Jungkook asked, grabbing hold of your bandaged arm.
"Do you think that something happened?" You avoided the question. "I'm still in this chair, aren't I?"
Jungkook nodded in understanding and started cutting the bandages off of your arm.
