Chapter 11 - (1.9K Words)
03:12, 4 April 2016You waited a minute before walking into the kitchen. You could hear the boys' voices, but you weren't thinking about the words they were saying. You didn't want to get teased about walking in right behind Yoongi, it would look bad for the both of you. You took a moment to gather yourself, and then stepped through the doorway and into the kitchen.
Just like the room you had fallen asleep in, the walls and floors were all concrete. However, this room didn't look anywhere near as dirty. The room had cheap-looking cabinets that didn't do the rest of the room any justice. The only things that looked like they had any value at all were the fridge and the stove. And even then, they looked like they were even cheaper than the counters.
You saw Hoseok and the man who must have been Taehyung sitting at a large metal table in the center of the room. As soon as you walked in, Hoseok set down his coffee mug and straightened up in his seat. Taehyung had his back to you, but because of Hoseok's sudden movement, he turned around in his seat to face you.
Yoongi was leaning against the wall, next to where Jin was standing by the stove. It didn't take you long to notice that Jin was not only wearing an apron, but he was also humming to himself as he was cooking. Just the sight of him like that made you want to laugh.
The three of them must have got in late last night. I don't remember hearing them come back.
"Good morning, (Y/N)," Hoseok said, grabbing your attention. You looked over at him, and a giant smile was resting on his face. It was cute of him, even though you could see where the coffee had started to stain his teeth.
"Good morning," You said, smiling back and waving at him.
"Who untied you?" He asked, just now noticing that the rope was missing from your wrists. "And could those shorts be any shorter?"
"Namjoon untied my hands when I woke up," you said, self-consciously pulling your shirt down to cover yourself. "He pointed me down the hallway and told me that Jimin laid out some clothes for me. This is what I found," you motioned to what you were wearing.
"Don't worry about it, we can get you something else to wear," Hoseok said before picking up his mug and taking a swig of coffee. "Right, Jin?"
"After breakfast, I'm sure that I can go find her some new bottoms," Jin said, not bothering to turn around.
"No, I like it. I think it's cute," Taehyung said, resting his chin on his hand, and his elbow on the table. You could see his eyes traveling up and down your body, and you instinctively blushed.
"Yah, stop being so gross, Tae!" Hoseok put down the mug and reached across the table to smack Taehyung's arm out from under him. His hand flew away from underneath his chin, which caused his jaw to connect loudly with the table.
You winced at the sound, and instinctively covered your own chin. If that didn't hurt him, then you didn't know what would.
"OW!" Taehyung pushed himself up off of the tabletop and carelessly swung his arm towards Hoseok. "You're gonna pay for that, you asshole!"
Hoseok expertly dodged Taehyung's punch, causing him to reel back and prepare to give another one, which Hoseok also dodged with ease. You were horrified as you watched the two of them dance around the room after each other. You wanted them to stop, but you didn't know any safe way to stop them on your own. However, it didn't last for long.
Yoongi left his spot on the wall, and forced the two boys apart. Both of them flew off in different directions. Hoseok landed face down on the floor, while Taehyung's back hit the concrete wall almost as hard as his jaw hit the table, which caused you to jump.
"Stop screwing around, both of you!" Yoongi hissed, turning angrily from one of them to the other. "This is a kitchen, not a barn! Stop acting like children."
Yoongi wasted no time in stomping out of the room, bumping into you on the way out. The entire room had gone almost silent. The only thing that you could hear was the sound of Jin nonchalantly humming as he stood over the stove.
What the hell just happened??
"Agh, my face is gonna be purple for weeks!" You heard Taehyung whine loudly as he held his head in his hands. "Hyung, why are you so mean to me??"
"It's not my fault that you can't learn to watch your mouth," Hoseok said, picking himself up off the floor. He brushed the dust off of his shoulders, and moved over to the table. He picked up his coffee mug and took a sip.
You looked over at Taehyung, and his head was still in his hands. You felt bad because you didn't do anything to stop them from fighting. Yoongi stopped them, but not necessarily for you.
You walked past both of the boys, who seemed to be in their own little worlds. You walked over to the other side of the room, away from the doorway where Yoongi had stormed through only a few moments ago. You made your way over to Jin, who was still humming, and acting as if nothing had happened.
"Jin?" You asked quietly
"Yes?" He said, his voice unusually bright. He didn't look up from the food that he was making.
"Do you have any ice packs here?"
"Yes. They're in the freezer door," he motioned to the fridge with his head, still focusing on his cooking.
"Thank you," you said, bowing your head to him.
You slid past him and made your way to the fridge. You opened up the freezer door, and pulled out an ice pack for Taehyung. You figured that he might calm down a little bit if you gave him one. Maybe his face wouldn't turn eggplant purple, either.
You slowly walked over to Taehyung with the ice pack in hand. His hands were still covering his face, and he was breathing heavily. You paused in front of him, waiting for him to take his hands away from his face.
"Taehyung," you called out to him, trying to get his attention.
"What is it?" He took his hands away from his face, and rolled his head to the side so he was looking at you.
"I um....I brought you an ice pack," you said, looking down at the ground and holding it up for him. "For your jaw."
You heard him lightly chuckle. You looked up, and you saw that he was smiling as best as he could. He accepted the ice pack from you, and held it to the side of his face.
"You must be an angel," he said, his other hand now resting softly on your cheek, causing you to blush madly. "You're treating me so kindly. Better than hyung ever has."
"If you will excuse me," you turned around and saw Hoseok smiling at you.
Hoseok pushed himself off the table with the coffee mug still in his hand. He calmly exited the room, and made his way out into the hallway. You were about to turn back to Taehyung when you heard the loud sound of shattering glass.
"Sorry Jin, another mug gone," Taehyung laughed, taking his hand away from your cheek. "But I guess a broken mug is better than a broken person, right?"
"You're not wrong. But since this one is your fault, you go and clean it up this time," Jin said, finally taking his attention away from the food he was making. "And you don't get to come back in here until it's all cleaned up."
"Alright, fine," a mildly annoyed Taehyung said, pushing himself off of the wall.
"Sorry, but now I have to take my leave," He said, grabbing your hand and bringing it up to your face. "Because of me, Hoseok seems to have made a mess out in the hallway. I have to go and clean it up as punishment."
He lifted your hand, and pressed his lips down on the back of your hand. You started blushing again, and tried to hide your face even though you knew that he wasn't looking.
"Stay beautiful," he leaned up to whisper in your ear. He brushed past you, and made his way out into the hallway. You watched him as he left, and you sighed.
They're all pieces of work, aren't they?
"They're not the easiest bunch to live with, but you get used to it," Jin said, grabbing your attention. He removed his apron, and set it down on the counter next to the stove. He grabbed two bowls, and made his way over to the table.
You sat down at the table, and he pushed you one of the bowls. He moved back to the counter, and grabbed a large plate that was piled with food. He sat down across from you, and put the plate down between you.
"All I could make was doenjang jjigae and some gimbap. I hope that's okay with you," He said, already taking some of the gimbap from the plate.
"Yeah, that's okay," you said, looking at the food laid out before you. You were hungry, but you didn't feel like eating. You held your chopsticks, but you hadn't even broken them apart yet.
Why do I feel so bad inside?
"Are you okay?"
You looked up, and Jin had stopped chewing his food. He was looking at you, as if he expected an answer.
"Yeah, I'm fine," you said, giving him a kind smile. You looked down at the food, and then broke your chopsticks. You grabbed a piece of gimbap, and ate it in one bite.
"You should know that I don't like being lied to."
You stopped chewing, and swallowed the piece of gimbap. You kept your eyes on the plate of food in front of you. You didn't dare look up at Jin.
"None of what happened this morning was your fault. I want you to realize that."
"I still feel responsible for part of it. I didn't do anything to stop them at all. Taehyung got hurt, Yoongi had to stop them from fighting, and Hoseok broke a mug because he was so mad. I didn't do anything at all."
"Sometimes, that's the best thing that you can do," Jin said, putting his chopsticks down.
You looked up at him, and you could feel the tears start to form in your eyes. You had to bite your lip to keep yourself from crying.
"It doesn't matter that you didn't do anything. Life will go on, and things will work out in their own little way. You don't need to feel bad because of these boys, anyway. Half of them aren't even worth your time."
You smiled at his words. You could feel a single tear as it ran down your cheek. Even though you felt bad about what happened, Jin had genuinely cheered you up. You were a crying and smiling mess.
Jin smiled back at you, and picked up his chopsticks again. You watched as he ate another piece of gimbap.
"Jin?"
"Yes?" He answered, looking up from his food.
"Thank you."
