Chapter 22

Drake-

I slowly walked behind Leilani's dad.

I just met the man and he already hates my guts.

"Have a seat," I sat down on the couch

"Is it possible you were under any influence while you were driving the car?" If looks could kill, lets just say, I would not be eating here tonight.

"Um no sir," I cleared my throat

"Explain to me how the accident was caused then."

"I was just taking her home and we noticed a car swerving back and forth on the road. I kept my distance from them the whole time but they charged our way and Leilani grabbed the wheel. They hit the side of my car tipping it over and then it went rolling..." I looked down

"Dad the accident wasn't Aubrey's fault!" Leilani walked in

THANK GOD. The tension in the air was so thick.

"I understand, I want to thank you Aubrey, for being responsible and calling an ambulance when you did. The doctor explained to me, if you would have called 5 minutes later, Leilani wouldn't be here today," he pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek

"Your welcome sir," I smiled

I found myself thinking about what if Leilani didn't make it. What would I be doing with myself?

"Aubrey, the food is ready," she broke me out of my thoughts

Leilani-

After dinner we still had some time to kill before Aubrey went home.

"Lei, I have this weird ass story I need to tell you," he followed me up the stairs

"Ok what is it?" I plugged my music into the speakers

"So when I was in the hospital, I had this dream, you were in it."

"Oh?"

"Yea, you were like an angel or something, it was so realistic though."

"That's crazy because, I kind of remember having a dream too, I was right outside of heaven," I sniffled

"I was greeted by my grandma, she was an angel," tears began rolling down my face

Aubrey grabbed my waist and sat me down on his lap.

"I was so close to going into heaven with her," I buried my face in the crook of his neck.

He rubbed small circles on my back, letting my know everything was going to be ok.

"I'm glad you didn't go," he said lowly

"Me too," I looked up into his eyes

They were so passionate in everything he did, I found myself trying to read his emotions but it was nearly impossible.

We stared at each other for what felt like hours, there's no where else and no one else I rather be with right now. I was yearning to feel his soft lips against mine. I know that's wrong considering I'm in a "relationship" but I could care less. His lips inched closer to mine as I prepared myself to feel fireworks go throughout my body.

My phone rang in my pocket, eliminating this intense stare down.

"Hello?" I answered

I tried to get off of Aubrey's lap but he just held onto me tighter, chuckling.

"Hey babe," Marco cleared his throat

"Hey Marco..." I said awkwardly

"Can I call you right back? I'm about to get in the shower," I lied

I looked at Aubrey, he was clearly irritated.

"Yea that fine, Lei. Love you," he hung up

Aubrey released his grip and I stood up. He slipped his shoes back on and grabbed his car keys off of my desk.

"I wanna be with you Lei, but not under these circumstances," he kissed my forehead and walked out.

Leaving me speechless~
