Chapter Eleven: Day of Unity

Firstly before the story starts I would like to thank my friend @AmaiKiseki39 helping me with this chapter. I was pretty stuck and they helped me get unstuck! And now it's the longest chapter yet!

Secondly this was going to be the final chapter of my story but then I decided to split it in two. Anyway I'd like to thank anyone who's read this far in my very first fanfic! But stay tuned for the final chapter and the adorable bonus chapter after this. (It's a bonus chapter cuz it doesn't really add to the story)

⚠️TW? I don't think this is really a trigger warning but I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable so just to let you know there will be a make out scene in this chapter and also I've never written one before so it could be trash.

It was officially the morning of The Day of Unity and it would be a grave understatement to say that the air was filled with unimaginable fear and terrified anticipation. Eda, King and Luz were huddled in a corner having a quiet and very teary conversation. Amity sat with her siblings, occasionally glancing at Luz with loving concern. Darius was showing his anxiety by fretting over his coven head friends, lit rolling their clothes and brushing their hair. He hated how his role in the plan was backup incase stuff goes wrong since he isn't in immediate danger. He cursed the fact Belos discovered he was a traitor. Rein just sat there silently, focused on their thoughts. Gus distracted himself by using his illusions to play games with all the palisman. Willow and Hunter sat in a reserved corner with different items of furniture obstructing them from the direct view of everyone in the room.

Willow was sitting cross legged with Hunter laying down his head in her lap. She was running her hands through his hair as she braided in lavender and Forget Me Nots. Hunter was not used to physical touch before he moved to the Owl House and at first he felt a little weird about it but now he loved the comforting presence of someone he trusted's body on his. Willow was focused on her work on Hunter's hair while he held his eyes open lazily trying to focus on her touch rather than the coming hours but it was near impossible. He couldn't get the burning stress in his chest to dim. He didn't even realise when his breathing became erratic but Willow noticed, so she summoned vines to comfortably wrap around Hunter's limbs and torso. "Hunter, I'm really scared. But it comforts me that through the entire plan we'll be together with our friends and even if the plan fails I will never leave your side." Willow said in a slightly shaky voice. With a croaky voice, as he held back tears Hunter said "You know I once read that kissing reduces stress." "Oh look at you Mr. Slick," Willow laughed weakly. "Well do you want to test the theory?" Hunter replied now softly laughing. "Sure," Willow replied simply before Hunter moved so he was sitting fully on her lap facing her.

They just starred into each other's eyes for a moment before Willow tilted her head to the side and Hunter mirrored her. Slowly they both closed their eyes and moved their heads closer before locking lips. They kissed for a few seconds and they both were filled with warm bliss. They pulled way before quickly re-connecting their lips. Hunter moved his hands free from Willow's vines and wrapped his arms around her pulling her closer, all of his social awkwardness melting away when Willow's lips moved against his own. Willow moved her hands to grip onto Hunter's hair which sent shivers down his spine. Willow was scared that today she could lose Hunter forever so without thinking she moved her tongue along Hunter's lips which made him chuckle at the strange feeling before opening his mouth slightly to let Willow's tongue inside his mouth. She explored Hunter's mouth, it was a strange feeling but she quite liked it. After a few more seconds Hunter pulled away for some air. They smiled at each other before Willow adjusted herself so her and Hunter were both sitting on their knees. As they kissed again Willow leaned forward and moved one of her hands to hold Hunter's back up so he doesn't fall.

They continued kissing for a few minutes, with Hunter now laying on the floor while Willow sat on his chest leaning forward kissing him, tongue in his mouth and her hands intertwined with his above his head. Hunter's legs were being tickled and moved around by flowers and vines Willow was subconsciously growing. Hunter had never felt so calm, so energised and fluttery all at once. Hunter opened his eyes to look at Willow's closed ones as he felt her tongue circle his and feel along his teeth. Then she moved one of her hands to play with Hunter's hair and he moved his newly freed hand to hold onto the back of her neck.

They kissed for a minute more before slowly coming to a stop and Willow climbed off Hunter to lay on her back next to him. They both- Hunter especially- were breathing heavily. For the time they were kissing they were able to forget about their fears and anxiety. "Well you were right. That does help reduce stress." Willow laughed and Hunter just smiled and hummed in reply. But slowly the pair floated back to reality and the feelings of dread returned but not as bad as before.

Luz ran over with red puffy eyes that were full of determination. "Guys it's time to roll out!" She said walking over extending her hands to help the two up. The three teens the walked over to Gus, Amity, Edric and Emira. "Hey guys! Ready for battle?" Willow asked enthusiastically trying to burry her doubts. They rest of the group cheered some half heartedly, more focused on the trials ahead while others were cheering like it was the last time ever (and it just might be) to be in this group of friends.

Everyone in the bunker loaded on to the elevator. Willow just like when they entered, stood behind Hunter hugging him. It was a tense ride up. No one spoke until the elevator doors opened to the bright light of the rising sun. It was still early in the morning.

The plan was to meet up with Lilith and Hooty- who were on their own side quest- before attacking a nearby Coven Scout camp and stealing their airships to take the two teams to their destinations. Team one was the teenagers plus King and their job was to stop the delivery of the Blight's Abominations. Team two was headed straight towards the action so Eda could corrupt the draining spell.

They walked out of the elevator into the woods Eda and Rein leading the group. After walking through the woods for a few minutes, with everyone on high alert they made it to a crater in the ground surrounded by thick trees that blocked them from the eyes in the sky. It was quite an ominous setting but it provided good cover. Is this where we are meeting Lilith and that annoying but lovable tube owl? Because if not this is a great spot to be ambushed.

A few moments passed before a round bird face from a long tubular body slithered out from the emerald green leaves on a tree across the crater. "Hello! EDA I MISSED YOU! YOU TOO LUZ, KING AND BABY HUNTER!" Hooty yells wrapping his body around the four. I hate that nick name. I told him a million times, just because I'm new to the Owl House doesn't mean I'm a baby! But man you got to love that dumb tube. "Oh and AMITY MY LUZ'S GIRLFRIEND!" Hooty said turning to Amity but she held her staff up threatening him so he backed off and turned to look at Hunter and Willow who were now holding hands. "OH MY TITAN! I KNEW YOU TWO WOULD GET TOGETHER SOON! So how'd it happen?" Hooty screeched like a fangirl his face now two inches away from their faces.

Everyone was so focused on Hooty's shouting that none of them noticed as Lilith walked up with Hooty's portable house on her back, a bag in hand and a few bags tied to her staff floating behind her. "Hootsifer! Stop shouting, a Scout patrol could hear you!" Lilith whispered yelled as everyone turned to look at her. "LULU! LETS-" Hooty began before Lilith shushed him. He continued talking more quietly "let's show 'em the goodies." "Yes!" Luz, Gus and the Blight twins cheer in unison.

Lilith started rummaging through her bags passing out different items to everyone. First she turned to her sister and handed her an amulet "this will help you enhance your harpy mode." She tells her before turning towards Rein and handing them a nearly transparent violin "It's a little more stealthy." Next she gave Gus some lightweight armour to protect him as he cast his illusion, she gave King a magical device that can clip onto his collar and it acts as a microphone and then she gives Amity goggles that highlighted magic energies.

With the goggles she could see the magic glowing in the bile sacks in all the witches hearts but strangely Hunter's heart didn't glow. As she expected Luz's didn't but why was Hunter's not glowing? Amity thought about it, what he said at Eclipse Lake and realised he must not have magic. Her eyes met with Hunter's and he seemed to guess what she saw. Quickly he looked away and Amity noted to herself that she would bring it up later.

Lilith turned to the Blight twins handing them both matching gems so they can talk telepathically. Darius was handed a pair of fashionable boots that could inject the ground with abomination goo and have it sprout out elsewhere. Luz was given a baseball bat that was reinforced with metal. Finally she turned to Hunter and Willow.

"Willow, me and Hooty had trouble of thinking of something to help with your impressive magic and then we thought of what you really care about. So here is some first aid potions." Willow lit off when she was handed the bag of healing potions. And then Lilith turned to Hunter "Now your 'goody' was actually Flapjack's idea and was probably the hardest to obtain." Lilith said as she pulled out a pair of red wings attached to a backpack.

Hunter looked amazed at them and then towards Flapjack on his shoulder. "Well are you going to try them on?!" Luz cheered running up to him and jumping around excitedly. Slowly Hunter stepped forward and slipped on the backpack.

The wings fit him perfectly, the wingspan being about a foot longer than his arms. They were the same red as Flapjack. By some magic when he thought about it the wings moved as if they were always part of him. He furled and unfurled his wings looking at them amazed.

In front of Hunter, Flapjack hovered and chirped at him. "Wait really?!" Hunter said to the bird, who chirped and Hunter hummed in response before saying "lead the way." Flapjack landed and lead Hunter through the wing motions of flying. Everyone else watched in silent anticipation. Slowly Hunter started to hover above the ground a bit unsteadily but soon he was swooping around under the leaf canopy. He was a quick learner and soon he was a confident flyer.

"Alright everyone time to move along to the next step in the plan. Attacking a Coven Scout camp." Lilith stated "It's about a fifteen minute walk from here." And the real danger begins. It's time for battle.
