TWENTY-NINE

06:40, 26 November 2023

The next morning, Olivia got up early and made her way to One Police Plaza. She went straight to Dodd's office and waited outside for him. He arrived about half an hour later and smiled at Olivia.

"Sergeant, how can I help you?" He asked as he motioned for Olivia to follow him. She shut the door behind them and sat down in front of his desk.

"Sir, do you remember calming me down when Amanda was in labor?" Olivia asked, as she awkwardly leaned back against the chair.

"Yes, I do. Never thought one of my officers would call me and ask for advice during their girlfriend's labor," Dodds chuckled. Olivia gave him a shaky smile before resting her hand on the lower part of her stomach.

"You said I might want to carry the next baby... Sir-" Olivia started, but Dodds interrupted her.

"Sergeant Benson, is this your disclosure?" He questioned, and Olivia nodded.

"Yes, sir. I am twelve weeks pregnant, and yesterday... Amanda and I found out that we are having twins," Olivia whispered, her voice shaking. Thinking about the two little ones growing right below her hand was still scary, but she knew that this was all meant to be. She and Amanda were meant to be parents to Charlotte and the twins.

Dodds looked at her with wide eyes as he leaned back against his chair. He scrubbed a hand over his face before nodding slowly.

"Okay."

"Okay? Sir-"

"I honestly don't know what else to say, Olivia. I assumed that you'd tell me before you were trying, not three months into your pregnancy," He admitted quietly.

Olivia frowned deeply as she started to fear the worst.

"Am I going to be terminated?" She whispered. Dodds looked at her with wide eyes and shook his head.

"Not only is that illegal, but I also wouldn't be able to find someone as passionate about Special Victims as you are. I want you to realize that as long as I work here, I am going to have your back. I will support your decisions because I know you know best," Dodds replied. Olivia burst into tears as she quickly hung her head.

"I'm so sorry, sir! I cry so much, and I'm just so relieved to hear that!" Olivia laughed.

"Don't worry about it, Benson. Here, take a tissue. We can talk about the details of your adjusted assignment once you have relaxed."

Olivia was so thankful that Dodds took the news so well. She walked into her squadroom with a sense of calm she hadn't experienced in a long time. She walked to where Fin, Nick, and Barba stood. She smiled at them as she gently touched Fin's shoulder.

"What do we have?" She questioned.

"Just trial prep mostly. Why are you smiling? It's creepy," Rafael spoke as he looked at Olivia. She gave him a dirty look before moving to the other side of the conference room table.

"Even your stupid comments can't make me angry, Rafael. I have news to tell you guys," Olivia smiled.

"News?" Fin asked nervously. Olivia reached into the pocket of her blazer before pulling out the sonogram pictures. She proudly showed them to her crew as her smile grew larger.

"I'm pregnant and it's twins," she beamed, her eyes bright and her cheeks rosy. Everything was going so well right now that she refused to hide her happiness.

"Baby girl!" Fin spoke loudly, his face full of shock.

"That better be a good baby girl and not a bad one," Olivia laughed, before being tugged into a tight hug by Fin. He held her close as Nick picked up the string of sonograms and examined them. Rafael looked as well but had to have Nick explain what they were looking at.

"Congrats," Fin whispered, as he leaned back and looked into the eyes of his best friend. They had gone through thin and thick together, and now he got to watch her become a mother again.

"I'm so glad you took it well, Fin. I was scared, but not anymore. Please forgive me for any mood swings," Olivia whispered back.

"I've been working with you for well over ten years, Olivia. I'm used to them," He teased. Olivia smacked his chest before hugging him tightly again.

After everyone congratulated Olivia, they got back to business. Rafael went through his line of questioning with Nick and Fin before going into Olivia's office. She pushed her glasses onto the top of her head before looking up at the sassy assistant district attorney.

"Rafa, how can I help you?" She asked.

"It's your turn," He replied, as he shut the door. Olivia nodded, as she quickly finished an email before sending it.

"Alright, tell me what you are gonna ask me," Olivia replied, as she stood and moved to her sofa. She sat down and Rafael sank down beside her.

He reached out and gently touched her arm, which received a wide-eyed glance from Olivia.

"Rafa?"

"I make dumb comments to hide my feelings," He spoke, and Olivia nodded.

"I know. You are the king of dumb comments," Olivia smiled softly.

"I just want you to know that I am truly happy for you and Amanda. I didn't mean-"

"Rafael, it's okay. I know you are happy for us. You haven't really been around babies, so you don't get the hype."

Rafael let out a slow breath before leaning back and looking at the pictures behind Olivia's desk.

"I almost thought we'd hook up," Rafael spoke.

"Yeah?" Olivia asked.

"Two lonely people married to their jobs... I'm glad you are with Amanda, though," Rafael replied.

"Yeah? Think I'd be too much to handle?" Olivia teased, as she stood and went to grab her water bottle.

"Nah, I think you wouldn't be able to keep up with me," Rafael grinned.
