EIGHTEEN
06:07, 13 August 2023Olivia made up the couch for Beth Anne, before moving into the bedroom she shares with Amanda. The moment the door shut, Olivia sighed deeply and ran her hands over her face.
"I am so sorry about her, Liv. My mother is a lot to handle, and I hate that she kinda shoved herself into our life," Amanda frowned, as she padded from the adjoining bathroom and looked at her girlfriend.
"It isn't your fault that she's like this, Mandy. Anyway, I still love you, even if your mother pissed me off," Olivia sighed.
They climbed into bed together and snuggled down under the sheets. Olivia held Amanda close, her hand cradling her swell.
"Did my mom say something to you?" Amanda asked, as she leaned heavily into Olivia's body.
"Amanda-"
"Please, just be honest with what she said. Then I know how to address it in the morning," Amanda replied.
Olivia closed her eyes and took a slow breath before replying to her girlfriend.
"She asked me what my mother thinks about our relationship. I told her that I didn't give a fuck about what my mother thinks, especially since she's an abusive drunk," Olivia replied. Amanda tensed up slightly in her girlfriend's arms.
"Do you want to tell your mother about us?"
"There is no way in hell I'm going to contact my mother and tell her about my life. She's a monster and doesn't deserve to know about our happiness."
///
When Amanda left her bedroom the next morning, her mother was no longer in the apartment. She had left a note on the kitchen counter telling Amanda that she had a few things to do this morning, but she'd be back sometime later. Amanda was glad her mother had left for a handful of hours, because that meant she would have some private time with Olivia this morning.
"Are you making me breakfast?" Olivia asked, shocked. She wandered towards the kitchen as she tucked her blouse in, and her eyes scanned the pan of eggs on the stove.
"Yes, ma'am. You cook for me all the time, and I think my girl deserves to be spoiled every once and awhile," Amanda grinned.
"I deserve to be spoiled all the time," Olivia shot back. Amanda laughed as Olivia got closer, before grabbing her waist and tugging her close. They shared several soft kisses, before moving to the table to eat.
"My mother will be out of the apartment for awhile, so I was wondering if you'd like to go in late and we can spend some time together?" Amanda asked. Olivia shrugged as she took a long sip from her coffee.
"Depends on what type of quality time you are thinking about. If we plan on getting sweaty, it might need to wait until later. I have a meeting this morning regarding closure rates."
"Yeah, I planned on making love to you. So I guess that it wait until later," Amanda smiled softly. Olivia looked at her for a moment, before sighing.
"Amanda, what's on your mind?"
"I'm just thinking about your mother, and I'm worried that she'll come around and mess with what we have."
"I can promise you that she won't seek us out. She doesn't like me, so she tries to keep a pretty big distance from me," Olivia replied. Amanda nodded, but was still worried.
"Do you think she'll hurt us-"
"Amanda, she is old. I can take her down if need be, but I'm not worried. She's probably drunk or high off her ass right now."
Olivia stood and placed her dirty dishes in the sink, before walking back to Amanda. She wrapped her arms around her shoulders, before kissing and sucking lightly on her neck.
"I love you, Amanda. Have a good day."
///
Olivia's phone died while at work, and she couldn't locate her spare charger. An hour before she got home, Amanda was sending her messages and calling her to warn her of an unwelcome visitor in their apartment. By the time Olivia got home, there was no turning back.
"Mandy, I'm home!" Olivia called, as she walked into her apartment.
"Shit, go back to work," Amanda urged, as she rushed to the front door and shoved Olivia out.
"What the fuck is happening?!" Olivia demanded, her eyes full of concern.
"Oh, Olivia! I'm so glad you are home, we have a visitor," Beth Anne smiled, which made Olivia's stomach tighten and her body fill with anxiety.
"Who is our visitor, Amanda?" Olivia whispered.
"Your mother," Amanda whispered back.
They sat across from each other at the kitchen table, but Olivia didn't speak a word to her mother. Serena looked better than Olivia imagined her to look. After years of not seeing each other, it was a shock that her mother was even alive.
"I bet you two have a lot of catching up to do. I'll take Mandy and we can go get some ice cream," Beth Anne grinned, as she stood up and pointed towards her daughter.
"Mom, I'm not going anywhere with you," Amanda sighed.
"Mandy, they-"
"You have no right to drag my mother here after she beat the crap out of me for years," Olivia spat, as she turned to look at Beth Anne.
"Pardon me?"
"Don't act like some sweet southern lady, Beth Anne. You are a monster and hate the fact that your daughter likes getting fucked by a woman instead of a man! You aren't welcome here anymore, and you aren't either," Olivia yelled, as she pointed at her mother. Serena sat completely still, her eyes never moving from the plate of pasta.
"Liv, it's okay," Amanda breathed, as she reached out to calm down her girlfriend.
"No, it isn't okay! Your mother brought my mother here in hopes she'd try and break us up. But my mother hasn't cared about who I fuck since I tried to marry her student! So guess what?! Your plan didn't work because she couldn't give less of a fuck about me and whatever is happening in my life!" Olivia screamed. She slammed her chair back and retreated into her bedroom with a slam of the door.
