Mirae's POV

The next day, I got ready and went to the company as usual.

"Kang Mirae-ssi, we have a client who wants to meet you," Ms. Song said.

"Me? Who is it?"

"She's Mr. Kim Joohyun's wife, Mrs. Kim Dayoung. She's waiting for you in that room." I clenched my fist on hearing her name.

Why does she want to meet me now?

I still went to meet her although I didn't want to. I sighed and twisted the door knob before going inside.

She was sipping her cup of tea when I walked towards her. I just sat opposite to her, not bothering to greet her.

"Mirae-ah..." I looked at her. "How have you been?"

"Why are you asking this after what you did to me and dad? And why did you come here?"

"I came to see you. I missed you so much Mirae-ah... And when I saw you at the party, I just wanted to hug you right there."

"You lost the right to do that when you left us eight years ago."

"I'm really sorry..."

"Why are you sorry? I should be sorry for bumping into you yesterday."

I stood up and was about to walk away when she stopped me.

"Mirae-ah..." I paused in my steps, my back facing her. "Can you not forgive me just once? I know I was a fool to leave you both back then... I regret it."

I turned back to face her. "Why are you regretting it? You should be happy that you're the Kim Joohyun's wife. And you're living the life you wanted. Aren't you satisfied now?"

"Mirae-ah–"

"What's the point of regretting what you did back then? The damage is already done. And when dad–" I was almost in the verge of tearing up now.

"When dad passed away, you didn't even bother to come at his funeral... Then why did you come now? Just to see how I'm suffering?"

"Why are you saying that? I'm your mom."

"Ani! You're not my mom anymore...I don't have a mom. You didn't bother to check up on me the past years then why are you pretending to do it now?"

"Mirae-ah–"

"Don't say my name! I hate hearing my name from you..." A tear managed to slip out of my eyes.

"Please go back. Just leave, like you did then and don't show up again... I don't want to see you anymore." By saying that, I just walked out of the room.

I quickly rushed to the gym room and closed the door. Luckily there wasn't anyone there at that time.

I went to the punching bag and started punching it, with my bare hands. I didn't care as I wanted to let it out. More tears rolled down my cheeks as I kept hitting the punching bag with my all.

I plopped on the floor, panting. I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down. After a while, I stood up and was about to walk out of the room when San came in.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I just got the wrong room."

"I see... Uh? Your eyes are all puffy. Did you cry?"

San's POV

"No!" By saying that, Mirae quickly walked out of the room.

"Is something wrong?" I mumbled to myself.

The whole day she didn't talk much and kept spacing out. She didn't even whine when I assigned her some work. And it started bugging me a lot.

We were now on our way back to the company. Mirae was sitting beside me, blankly staring out of the window.

I wonder what's wrong with her...

Then my gaze landed on her hands. Her knuckles were all scraped.

"Mirae-ssi, what happened to your hands?" I asked, holding one of them.

She quickly pulled back her hand and hid it behind her. "It's nothing."

Something's really wrong with her...

Soon we reached the company. We went out of the van and were heading towards the building when I stopped her.

"Kang Mirae-ssi!" She turned back to face me. "Is something wrong?"

"No." She smiled. "Everything's fine." But I could tell that the smile was a fake one.

"Liar."

"I'm fine. Really!"

"...Come with me." I grabbed her wrist and took her somewhere.
