Part 64
19:00, 2 April 2026The atmosphere backstage was electric, charged with a tension that no longer had anything to do with nerves and everything to do with the promise Noel had just whispered in Caroline's ear. As 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' thundered through Heaton Park, Caroline stood in the shadow of the monitors, her heartbeat syncing with the pumping guitar riff.
She watched as Noel handled his guitar as if it were a weapon. Every movement was sharp, every glance toward the photography pit a provocation. He wasn't just playing for the eighty thousand fans; he was playing to single-handedly tear down the walls of the world Sara had tried to build around them.
Liam, sensing his brother's energy, leaned into the microphone with a raw intensity that drove the crowd to madness. He shot a quick glance sideways at Noel and grinned; this was the Oasis that had once brought the world to its knees, reborn out of pure defiance.
As the concert approached its climax with the opening notes of Live Forever, Caroline felt a vibration in her jacket pocket. It was her phone, a message from Simon.
"Update: Message sent to Sara's camp. The silence on their end is deafening. They've understood the message: the money tap is about to burst. Retraction is being prepared."
She looked up from her screen toward the stage. Noel stood there, bathed in white light, his eyes once again searching for her silhouette in the wings. The victory over Sara had been set in motion legally, but the real triumph was happening here, in the raw connection between him and the music, and the promise waiting once the final note faded away.
Noel stepped away from the microphone for a moment during the solo, sweat glistening on his forehead, and silently mouthed three words toward the shadows where she stood: "Wait for me."
The roar of the crowd was still a physical vibration in Noel's chest as he stepped off the final metal rung of the stage gantry. He didn't wait for the wardrobe assistant to take his sweat-soaked denim jacket or for the security detail to clear the path. He moved like a heat-seeking missile toward the shadows of the wings.
Caroline didn't even have time to show him Simon's message before he reached her. He didn't care about the cameras, the crew, or the legal storm still brewing in London. He grabbed her by the waist, lifting her slightly off her feet as he crushed his lips against hers.
He tasted like salt, adrenaline, and the raw, unfiltered triumph of the last two hours. It wasn't the kiss of a man who had won the war, but the kiss of a man who had finally found his home in the middle of a battlefield.
'Tell me,' he rasped against her mouth, his breathing still heavy, his forehead resting against hers. 'Tell me we're winning, Caro. Because I don't think I can take anymore of her stupidity'.
She pulled back just enough to look into his dark, dilated eyes, her hand trembling as she held up her phone. 'Simon sent the ultimatum. They've gone quiet, Noel. Usually, with Sara, silence means she's recalculating the cost. She hasn't folded yet, but for the first time... she's hesitating.'
Noel let out a low, rough exhale, his grip on her tightening. 'Let her calculate. Let her count every penny. Because while she's doing the math, I'm doing this.'
He steered her toward the sanctuary of his private trailer, ignoring Liam's boisterous shouting in the distance. Once the heavy door clicked shut, the silence of the room felt like a physical weight, amplified by the distant, rhythmic chanting of the fans still echoing from the park.
The trailer was dimly lit, the only sound the hum of the air conditioning. Noel didn't move toward the drinks or the shower. He turned to Caroline, his expression softening into something so vulnerable it made her breath hitch. The 'stony mask' was gone, replaced by a profound, quiet exhaustion that only she was allowed to see.
'I meant what I said on that stage,' he whispered, stepping into her space, his hands framing her face. 'I've spent thirty years giving everything to those people out there. But tonight? Every chord, every word... it was a bribe to the universe to let me keep this. To let me keep you.'
He leaned down, his kiss this time slow, lingering, and desperately tender, a silent apology for the chaos his life had brought to her doorstep.
'We don't know what she'll do tomorrow,' Caroline whispered into the crook of his neck, her eyes closing as she inhaled the scent of him. 'She might go nuclear. She might try to ruin us both by morning.'
Noel pulled her closer, his heartbeat steady and strong against her own. 'Then let the world burn, Caro. As long as we're standing in the ashes together, I've got everything I need.'
He reached behind her, his fingers grazing the zipper of her dress with a slow, deliberate intent. 'Now, about that proof I promised...'
The metal walls of the trailer seemed to shrink, sealing them into a world where the only reality was the heat between them. As the zipper of her dress gave way with a faint, rhythmic hiss, Noel didn't take his eyes off hers. The rockstar who had just commanded eighty thousand people was gone; in his place was a man stripped of his armor, looking at Caroline as if she were the only anchor in a shifting sea.
He swept the fabric from her shoulders, his hands trembling slightly, not from the stage-induced adrenaline this time, but from a raw, aching reverence. When his mouth finally grazed the curve of her full breasts, a low, guttural sound escaped his throat, a mix of relief and hunger. He pulled her against the length of his body, his hands roaming her back with a desperate possessiveness, as if trying to memorize the feel of her to drown out the noise of the outside world.
'No more lawyers,' he murmured against the sensitive skin of her neck, his breath hitching. 'No more headlines. Just this.'
He lifted her easily, carrying her the few steps to the small bed at the back of the trailer. The space was cramped, smelling of expensive cologne and the faint metallic tang of the stage, but to them, it was a fortress. As they tumbled onto the sheets, the distant chanting of his name finally faded into the background, replaced by the jagged rhythm of their breathing.
In the dim, amber glow of the bedside lamp, Noel leaned over her, his thumb tracing the curve of her lip. For a moment, the weight of the coming morning, the potential lawsuits, the tabloid splashes, the 'nuclear' fallout from Sara, threatened to intrude. But then Caroline reached up, her fingers locking behind his head to pull him down, and the threat vanished.
Every touch was a counter-strike against the malice they'd faced all day. It was slow, intense, and profoundly intimate, a silent vow written in the dark. Noel moved with a deliberate slowness, as if every thrust inside of her was a brick he was laying to build a wall around what they had. He wasn't just making love to her; he was reclaiming his life from the people who tried to sell it for parts.
The amber glow cast long, dancing shadows against the trailer walls as the world outside ceased to exist. Noel braced himself on his elbows above her, his eyes dark and focused on the way her breath hitched under his touch. The raw energy of the concert had transformed into a deep, simmering tension that claimed every fibre of his being.
Each time he pushed himself deep inside of her, it was with a possessive tenderness that stole Caroline's air. Her nails dug deep into the corded muscle of his back, an instinctive reaction to the overwhelming closeness and the feel of him embedding himself inside of her. Every movement was a claim, a conquest of the space they had created together, far away from the flashbulbs and the legal threats.
'Look at me,' he rasped, his voice thick with an emotion he would never show on a stage.
Caroline forced her eyes open, drowning in his gaze. There was no mask left, no rock-and-roll arrogance; there was only the man putting everything on the line for this moment. His hands, which only an hour ago had been punishing the strings of his Gibson, now cupped her chin with a fragile, aching caution.
The heat in the trailer rose as Noel's rhythm quickened, a feverish dance of skin on skin. The sound of their heavy, synchronized breathing and her little muffled cries of pleasure against his skin, drowned out the hum of the air conditioning. To Caroline, it felt as if Noel wasn't just holding her, but trying to absorb her, to tuck her into the very core of his being where no one could touch her.
When his release finally came, it wasn't just physical; it was an explosion of bottled-up frustration, love, and pure rebellion against the rest of the world. Noel buried his face in the crook of her neck, his entire body shuddering as he held her so tightly it felt as if he were afraid she might dissapear the second he let go.
He stayed there for a long time, heavy and warm atop and inside of her, as their heartbeats slowly found their own tempo again. The silence that followed was no longer heavy, but filled with a deep, saturated peace.
'No one gets between this,' he murmured against her skin, his lips still searching for small patches of her shoulder to kiss. 'Not tomorrow. Not ever.'
An hour later, as the silence of the Manchester night finally settled over the park, they still lay tangled together in the cooling air of the trailer. Noel held her tucked tightly under his chin, his arm a heavy, protective weight across her waist.
'Tomorrow can do its worst,' he whispered into the darkness, his voice thick with a newfound peace. 'Because tonight, I finally won.' He breathed into her hair. For the first time in weeks, the constant mental noise of solicitors, settlement figures, and "Sara's games" had been silenced.
Noel shifted slightly, his fingers tracing lazy, possessive circles on the small of her back, savoring the quiet victory of having her exactly where he wanted her, away from the world, in a space she had claimed as much as he had.
'You know,' he murmured, his voice a low vibration against her temple, 'I spent years thinking that being "Noel Gallagher" meant I had to be untouchable. That if I let anyone in, the whole thing would collapse.' He tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her even closer into the heat of his body. 'But tonight... on that stage, looking at you... I realized the only thing that could actually destroy me is losing this..us..losing you'
Caroline turned her face into his chest, the scent of his skin, faintly metallic from the stage lights but mostly just him, filling her senses. 'We're not going to let that happen, Noel. Not after today. You're not gonna lose me.'
The peace was fragile, however. On the bedside table, Noel's phone suddenly vibrated, the screen lighting up the dark room like a miniature flare. The blue light cast sharp shadows across his face as he reached for it, his jaw tightening instinctively.
It was a notification from an encrypted messaging app. Not Simon. Not Liam.
It was a direct message from an unknown number, but the phrasing was unmistakably Sara's.
"Lovely show tonight, Noel. The world is talking. But before you get too comfortable in that trailer, you might want to check the email I just sent Simon. I think even Caroline would agree that some 'memories' are worth more than a London house."
Noel felt the newfound peace evaporate, replaced by a cold, familiar dread. He looked down at Caroline, who was watching him with wide, questioning eyes. The mask threatened to return, but he fought it, keeping his hand firmly on her hip.
'She's not done,' he whispered, his voice gravelly. 'She's sent something to Simon. Something she thinks will change the game.'
Caroline sat up, the sheet pooling around her waist as she reached for her own phone. 'Let her try. We have the Bar Standards threat, Noel. We have the financial freeze.'
'This isn't about money anymore, Caro,' Noel said, his eyes fixed on the glowing screen. 'This is about what she's willing to burn down just to see us catch fire. I'm calling Simon..'
Noel's expression turned to focus as he pushed down on the lawyer's name in his phone. The blue light from the screen cast harsh shadows across his features. He didn't let go of Caroline; his arm around her waist felt less like a possessive gesture now and more like a human shield.
'Spit it out, Simon,' Noel growled as Simon picked up and greeted him. 'What fairy tale has she cooked up this time?'
'It's about the reunion of the band, Noel,' Simon began cautiously. 'Sara has compiled a dossier claiming that the entire Oasis reunion wasn't a business decision, but the result of 'undue influence' and emotional manipulation by Caroline in her role as your PA and tour manager.'
Caroline furrowed her brow, confused. 'Manipulation? I spent months just trying to get the two of them in one room, let alone even speak to each other!'
'That's exactly the point,' Simon continued. 'Sara is alleging that you, Caroline, deliberately preyed on Noel's emotional vulnerability during Noel's last tour where he wasn't selling out stadiums. She claims you orchestrated secret face-to-face meetings with Liam behind Noel's back. She has witness statements from security and photos of you and Liam in some back rooms of London pubs months ago, but I highly believe they were put through some AI app. She's framing you as a 'puppet master' who manipulated the brothers behind the scenes to force the biggest payday in British history just for your own commissions.'
Noel let out a dry, mirthless laugh. 'She thinks I let my PA force me onto a stage with Liam? She's lost her mind.'
'She's using the timing against you, Noel,' Simon said gravely. 'She's arguing that Caroline 'programmed' you to work with Liam while you weren't mentally fit to decide for yourself due to a marital crisis. She's calling those secret meetings 'conspiracy talks' to hustle a vulnerable man into a multi-million-pound tour. She's threatening to take this to the press as a 'manipulation scandal.' She wants the world to believe this tour is a fraudulent setup engineered by an opportunistic assistant who used Liam as a crowbar.'
Caroline felt the floor drop out from under her. Those two meetings with Liam had been about keeping the peace, about mending a family. She had met Liam in confidence because she was the only one brave enough to bridge the gap. But in Sara's hands, her sincerity was being translated into pure greed and emotional abuse.
'She wants to destroy the tour,' Caroline whispered, her eyes wide with shock. 'If the fans think you didn't choose this yourself, Noel... if they think I sold you out to Liam behind your back...'
Noel turned to her and took her face between his hands, his eyes burning with a cold, lethal determination. 'She thinks she's driving a wedge between us. Between me, you, and Liam. But she forgets one thing: I've never done a single thing I didn't want to do.'
He looked back at the phone. 'Simon? Tell her lawyers this: she can sell her little story to the tabloids. But the minute she does, I'll double the tour dates and every penny I earn will go into a fund to hunt her legally for the rest of her life. She wanted a war? She's got one.'
