Chapter 25- Finish it
20:28, 5 March 2022Alexa's POV
I walked out of the Yamanaka's flower shop and made my way towards the cemetery. Looking from all sides, there were a number of people also paying their visits and in one of the corner, in front of a particular grave stood a familiar brunette.
I made my way towards the lone figure and gently placed the bouquet of flowers. We were both silent as we stare at the name of our fallen comrade etched on the stone.
I crouched down and removed the dirt on top of the grave. I traced my fingers on the letters carved before smiling. "Hey Kenma. How are you doing there? We're doing fine here. Well. As far as shinobis could be. You see, Itsuki's been placed in team 26 and I'm currently a temporary member of team 9.", I look to the side to see Itsuki's indifferent cold face, the life in his eyes missing.
"Your best friend here, uhm...well he's acting like usual. Oh and about Aiko-sensei, I heard that she's due on February. So we were guessing if its gonna be a boy or a girl. What do you think? I'm believe its gonna be a healthy baby boy. That's what my gut is telling me.", I wiped the dust off as my smile began fading away. "We miss you..."
I closed my eyes then I saw a red haired kid grinning lively as he freely run on a field of green velvety grasses while waving his hands up in the air. "Oi! Itsuki-teme! Lhexi-chan!" He was as happy as one can ever imagine.
I opened my eyes to see him gone and I looked down to see his grave.
I stood up and dusted the dirt off my clothes and stayed there for a couple more minutes with Itsuki until we both thought it was time to go. "Then. Kenma, we'll go now. We'll visit you again."
We both walked silently side by side. Adults, men and women walked passed us including kids that were running around, playing with each other. I thought it was time to break the silence.
"How are you with your new team?", he remained silent and I just smiled then looked forward while clasping my hands behind me.
It looks like he's not gonna say anything. I stared off into the sky and began singing.
"You're alone You're on your own So what, have you gone blind Have you forgotten what you have and what is yours?"
I felt his stare and I smiled.
"What song is that?"
I looked back and smiled at him. "King. A song from where I came from."
He looked away first, scratching his cheek then looked back at me. "I thought you were singing gibberish."
I laughed. "Really?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "It sounds good though."
Blinking my eyes, I playfully punch his shoulder taking him off guard. "Hey, why don't you just tell me my voice was that beautiful."
He looked at me then scoffed. "I like the melody, not your voice."
"Hey why do you look so red? Don't tell me...", I trailed off.
He panicked almost instantly and turned around.
"Do you like my voice that much?!", I heard him hiccupped.
'Cute..'
"Just joking!", he looked back at me his face red his eyes glaring then I made a run for it, him quick on my tails.
I took a huge leap from the ground to the sky before landing on a roof. My hands fling behind me as I try to outpace him while jumping from a house to another. The chase lasted for 10 minutes before he tackled me on the ground.
"Got you."
I started giggling until my eyes widened when we both started rolling on the slope. I gripped his shoulders and he held my arms. By the time we stopped, I was lying on the green grass just by the river, him on top of me, his knees on both sides of my waist.
We stared at each other before we bursted into a fit of laughter. It's really great to have fun and act like normal kids once in a while. I haven't felt this in decades back in my world and even here.
"Hey Lhexi.", he called.
I stared back at his brown eyes. "What?"
"Arigatou."
I stifled another laugh as he turn bright red.
"Don't laugh!", I covered my mouth with my hands muffling my giggle. "Hey!"
"Hai hai hai", I mocked.
He shifted on his position, his eyes still locked on mine. The sunset emblaze his handsome features that I was only able to recognize now that we were this close. For a moment I couldn't see him just a kid nor just a friend.
His heavy lidded eyes traced down from my eyes to my lips and I knew what was gonna happen in a few more moments. He leaned forward and I closed my eyes waiting to meet his lips. I could hear his fast beating heart as his breathing fanned on my skin.
"LHEXI-CHAN!"
I snapped my eyes wide to see Itsuki looking somewhere above with an irritated glare. I look up to the side to see Naruto running towards us. A small smile graced my lips and Itsuki pulled himself off from me. I sat up and waved my hands.
"Oi! Naruto! Hod did your mission go?!"
He skidded on the grassy slope while giving a furious look at Itsuki who just looked away. His eyes shone with something else when his blue eyes met mine.
He grabbed me by my arm yanking me off the ground and pulled me behind him as he make a stance in a protective manner.
"Oi! You bastard! What were you trying to do?!", Naruto huffed madly.
Itsuki raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't concern you, dumb face."
"W-what?! Konoyaro! I'll kill you!", I held him by his collar as he wiggle out of my tight grip. "Just wait! Teme!"
I let out a sigh as I shake my head from side to side. "Naruto, calm down. He did not do anything bad on me."
"But...but...just now...he almost ki-kissed you...", I laughed at him.
He stopped struggling and I let go of his collar.
"It's alright. I don't really mind.", Naruto pouted and Itsuki shot me a look.
"B-but...!", he pointed at himself. "What about me?"
I blinked my eyes surprised. "Why? You also want a kiss?"
He turned to a blushing mess, his face a deep shade of red. I think I would be seeing all shades of red this day.
"N-no!", he turned around crossing his arms.
"Like she would want to kiss a loser like you.", Naruto sent a glare at Itsuki. Finding nothing to be interesting I looked down on the river to see my reflection which shapeshifted into someone with golden eyes.
I blinked my eyes to see my own.
'What was that?'
"Shut up! Like she would want to kiss you either!"
I sighed again before pulling Naruto's tattered clothes dragging him on the ground as he bicker at Itsuki. I sent a small smile at my former teammate and the corner of his lips twitched upwards.
"Konoyaro! I'll get back on you! Just watch! I'll become the hokage!"
Itsuki is already out of Naruto's sight and he still continued on ranting.
"It took you a while to come back. Did something happen?", I ask already knowing the answer and he stopped talking letting himself get dragged on the road.
"Yeah...", I look back at him to see him staring on the ground. "It's just like you warned us..."
I stopped on tracks and he stood up, patting the dirt off his clothes.
"We got attacked on our way to the old man's country. Then we met this Zabuza guy, who had a really huge sword believe it!", he moved his hands around trying his best to explain. "Then! Kakashi-sensei battle him! They were like Wah! Pooh! Boom! Cha!"
By the time he was finished with his story, the usual life in his eyes were gone.
"Naruto?", I shrugged him slightly.
"Ne, Lhexi-chan.", he looked at me, "Are ninjas really just tools?"
My eyes softened before answering, "Yeah, it has always been since ancient times."
"Why?", he looked so innocent.
"Because that's the only way we could prove ourselves useful to our village."
He remained silent before taking a deep breath as he stare at me with determination in his eyes. "Naruto...? Is there something on my face?"
"It's nothing, believe it! Let's eat ramen tonight!", I blinked my eyes slightly confuse before nodding.
"Hm."
Then I felt a shiver running through my spine. I looked behind us to felt a deadly aura coming from behind electric pole. Cream coloured hooded jacket peeking out.
'That could only be one person...'
Before I could even approach Hinata I was pulled by my hand. "Lhexi-chan! Come on! Hurry up!"
..........
I walked rather a little tired back to my apartment passing the room next to mine as their door opened not knowing a certain long brown haired male lived next to me.
I fumbled with the keychain, Kiba gave to me before unlocking the door and closing it with a loud thud. Just as I was about to removed my shoes, I heard a knock and I turned back towards the door, opening it.
"Hey there!", his closed eyed smile irritated me for a reason unknown and I slammed the door close hearing him mumble from the other side. "I was knocking on the wrong room, I guess."
I turned back to the door and creaked it open slightly to see Kakashi talking to someone on the room just next to mine, I couldn't hear what they were talking about. I blinked my eyes in confusion before closing the door again.
Walking pass the mirror, I heard someone speaking sending goosebumps all over my skin. "Hey..." I look around frantically trying to find where that voice came from.
"I'm here~...", the voice was rather familiar.
I turned towards the mirror and started walking to it. My eyes widened and my pupils dilated as I stare back at the smiling girl in front of me.
"We finally met, A-le-xa...", she let out a chorus of soft giggles and I took a step back.
"Y-you're...", my voice was shaking.
Her golden eyes shimmered with amusement as she tilt her head to the side, her lips twisting to a sly smirk.
I tried my best to suppress myself from punching the mirror to shards. "How dare you...!", she let out a small exaggerated gasp.
This girl is the reason why I died in my former world and the same girl who pulled me in this predicament. How dare she show herself, after turning my average and normal life into hell.
"Ouch...Aren't you happy? Now that I'm here?"
"Asuna!", I shouted, rage trembling with my voice.
She closed her eyes before opening them, half lidded before smiling maliciously.
"Hmmm. My body have greatly changed I see...", she looked up from my head to toe.
"What do you want?!", I growled.
"Hmm. I'm just here to say hi~", she started giggling like a maniac, fear instilled in me.
This girl...how much have she changed...? She's even scarier than death itself.
I took another step back, gritting my teeth.
She assessed me. "So the prophecy had always been you...not me...", she whispered.
'Prophecy?'
"What do you mean?"
She raised an eyebrow before chuckling. "You'll die if I tell you."
Spiders crawled on my skin as she lean forward, her face coming out of the mirror. I was frightened and I shut my eyes close before punching the mirror, numerous sharp shards digging itself on my skin.
I held the wounds on my fist and I fell down on the floor blood spraying everywhere.
"Hey...don't be so aggressive."
I covered my ears muttering words. "Don't...don't...don't...come near me..."
I heard a sigh, not really knowing where it came from. Looking up, I saw multiple Asuna on every glass. I screamed, my body shaking in fright.
"Hey...are you really 27?", I stopped screaming and just stared at her golden eyes.
"How did you...?", I stopped when she began counting on her fingers.
"No...you should be mentally 31 now right?"
"Y-yeah..."
She smiled at me. "You think you're the only one who could see memories?"
My eyes widened and I leaned slightly forward.
"Did you...?", she nodded her head happily.
"Ahhh....I wished there's Internet here too...and you! How come you didn't finished watching Haikyuu! That's literally a crime!", she pointed at me and I deadpanned.
"What...the actual fu--?"
"Now I don't know what happened next...", she pouted and I'm wondering if I should be scared or not.
