Amora

I flung open the door, immediately smiling once my eyes met the group who stared right back at me.

"I'm way excited. I can't believe you're dad is letting us come over!" Carrie laughed, stepping forward into the house.

"Yeah.. I know right!" I laughed nervously, moving over to let everyone into the house.

They all looked around widening their eyes, as they gazed around in awe.

"Woah what's this?" Squints pointed to a statue head that rested on a table.

Yeah-yeah and squints both laughed together, as they poked and played around with the piece.

"Hey! Don't touch, are you animals?" I scolded, grabbing onto the backs of their shirt and pulled them away.

I continued to watch as they wandered around exploring the place, making me grow even nervous.

"Oh hey dad!" I widened my eyes rushing over and turning him away from the room.

"What's going on, it's sounds like theirs elephants down here!" He questioned, trying to move around me.

"Oh, yeah that. Rose and I are just doing one of those fitness tapes. Sorry for disturbing ok bye!" I smiled, turning him around and lead him down the hall.

"Amora. What's going on here?" He stopped, turning over and gave me an angered look.

"What? Papa nothing- oh my gosh have you forgotten to write back to Mr. Barnes remember? It's super important you know this!" I stammered, immediately changing the subject.

Immediately his face fell before shaking his head angrily."Fuck!" He spat, whipping around and frustratedly rushing up the stairs.

I let out a breathe of relief once he was gone upstairs, before quickly rushing back into the room.

"Hey hey! You crazies almost just got me practically skinned alive here? Keep it down!" I scolded, flailing my hands around at them.

Immediately they all stopped and closed their mouths shut once they noticed my angered expression.

"Oh there it is. I knew there was no way he'd allow this to happen!" Carrie laughed, shaking her head softly.

"If I hear another peep I will smack it out of you!" I pointed towards squints, especially squints.

"Ok mom!" Squints rolled his eyes, sticking his tongue at me teasingly.

I rolled my eyes at him before they turned around and plopped down onto the couches.

"Ah! This is so soft!" Bertram sighed happily, pulling the handle to lower back the chair.

I crouched down turning the knob of the tv before beginning to put in a tape into the slot and finally standing up.

I sat down in between Carrie and Kenny, sighing as I let myself rest into the cushion.

After some of the movie playing, I soon realized that it was definitely not a kids movie and was quit scary.

The screen showed an ugly looking creature, making everyone let out shrieks at the sight.

"Goodness god!" Bertram widened his eyes, looking at the scene in horror.

"What is that thing!" Smalls exclaimed, sinking lower into the couch.

I let out small laugh, shaking my head at their freak out before looking over and away from the screen.

Only then had I just realized Benny who laughed at their dramatic reactions, making me slowly crack a smile as I stared at him.

Quickly I looked away once I realized what I was going, rolling my eyes as I scolded myself.

I returned my attention back towards the screen, beginning to feel a jump scare was about to approach.

We all stayed silent watching the movie intently, as my heart began to beat faster and faster at the intense music that played.

Suddenly the music stopped leaving me to sit nervously in my seat, before another gross looking thing popped out.

We all let out terrified shrieks, jumping back in our seats from the suddenness.

Carrie, Kenny and I let out screams, jumping up and grabbing onto each other in complete terror.

My eyes we're wide with horror from the scene, before slowly looking over to see Carrie and Kenny hugging me tightly.

Immediately I flinched away and groaned once I noticed their arms around me

"Hey! Get off!" I groaned, wiggling my arm to free myself before pushing Kenny away.

"Awe, I thought we were having a moment!" Kenny exclaimed, flailing his hands around crazily.

"I almost just crapped my pants!" Hams chimed in, looking at the screen wide eyed.

I shook my head before slowly looking back over towards Benny who continued too watch the screen.

I let out a small groan, looking away and pushing myself off from the couch.

"I'm getting popcorn" I informed Carrie who looked at me confused, before walking off down to the kitchen.

I walked straight into the kitchen, too immediately meet Rose who wiped down the counter top.

"Hi Rose" I smiled at her, before walking over and opening up the cupboards.

"Hi dear, who are your friends?" She laughed, motioning out towards them in the living room.

"Oh no, those are psycho dogs!" I clarified, shaking my head.

She simply laughed before nodding her head."Yeah, they're loud. Hopefully your dad is too busy writing that letter to his boss to care" she laughed, with me nodding in agreement.

She picked up a broom and dustpan before walking out of the room, leaving me too plop the packet into the microwave.

I looked down at the microwave tapping my foot lightly before it beeped signaling it was done, making me quickly open it up.

I pushed open the doors throwing a few popcorn kernels into my mouth, as I walked down the silent hall.

As I walked back towards the room where everyone was in, my eyes gazed over and stopped on another photo that rested on the wall.

I slowly stopped in my tracks, studying the picture as I continued to throw a few popcorn kernels into my mouth.

"Hi mom" I sighed, titling my head as I stared at the photo.

"You know you had great hair. That's way good news for me!" I smiled happily, briefly grabbing onto a piece of my hair.

I stared at the photo once more before turning to walk away when I suddenly bumped into a chest, making me jump back at the thought of it being the person I feared most. Dad.

"Goodness christ Benny, I almost had a heart attack what's wrong with you!" I groaned, smacking his arm before letting out a breathe of relief.

"What are you doing? You could so get caught by my dad!" I whispered, angrily flailing my hand at him.

"I had to piss ok?" He exclaimed, immediately defending himself.

I shook my head lowering my hand before turning away, sighing as I plopped another popcorn kernel into my mouth.

"Were you talking to yourself?" He questioned, curling his lips into a teasingly smirk.

"What! No I was not! I was just-

I trailed off glancing back up at the photo, stammering over myself when my brain felt like mush and I couldn't come up with an excuse.

Immediately his face fell seeing my distress, making him quickly apologize."I'm sorry I just-

"Stop it's ok" I cut him mid sentence, waving my hand to brush it off.

He slowly nodded before looking up at the photo I was staring at, making me turn around and do the same.

I sighed to myself slowly turning over to see Benny already looking at me, making me roll my eyes.

"You know your mom is very pretty-

"Are you hitting on my dead mom!" I cut him off immediately, crossing my arms as I let out a shriek.

Immediately his eyes widened and he quickly shook his head."No no- I was just saying. Y'know you look lots like her!" He stammered, quickly explaining himself.

I shook my head with an eye roll, before pausing once his words clicked in my mind.

Did he just..Call me pretty?

"I- I didn't know you're mom died?" His face fell, giving me a sympathetic expression.

"Yeah, it's whatever she died along time ago" I waved it off before folding my arms and crossing them once again.

"Uh well.. if you don't mind? How...did she.." he trailed off, hinting at what he wanted to ask.

I uncrossed my arms, groaning to myself as my head fell back lazily, really wanting too go back to the couches.

"She died when I was like I don't know? 12? 11? She-

"Amora!" Rose called out, bursting through the doors and rushed into the room.

"I just heard. You're fathers going to be leaving soon. He'll see everyone if he comes out!" She blurted out, grabbing onto my shoulders.

Immediately panic struck within me, nearly throwing the bowl of popcorn up before we both rushed into the room where everyone sat, quickly ushering them to go into a different room.
