50 - Thunder
10:29, 21 June 2025The remainder of the Surprise Attack Division ran, accompanied by a few samurai and Yozora. Mifune and the rest of the samurai were fighting the reanimated, though they'd probably catch up soon.
"How do we know the others won't just chase after us?" Fuyuka demanded.
A bolt of thunder hit the tree right in front of them, blasting it to pieces.
"We don't," Kankuro replied as the blue haired woman from earlier- Denra landed in front of them, twirling around a metal staff sparking with electricity with ease. Unlike some of the other reincarnated, she looked like she was totally having fun.
Her hair was half up half down, which made the ponytail part look kind of like a fish. But nobody commented on that.
"Isn't Lightning Release weak to Wind?" one of the samurai asked.
Denra glanced at the mixed group of Surprise Attack Division members and Fifth Division members with amusement visible in her eyes. "Bold of you to assume this is just lightning release. My name is Denra Seizaki, former member of Shadow Star. I am Blitz, the Distant Thunder."
"..."
"I rehearsed that forever before I died, at least I got to use it."
"I think she's crazy," one samurai muttered.
"You're absolutely right," another one replied.
Before anyone else could talk, another bolt of thunder crashed in the middle of the group. Everyone quickly dodged out of the way, but a few unfortunate samurai were struck, their highly conductive iron armor definitely not helping.
Denra dashed forward with surprising agility, her sparking staff aimed at the closest samurai. Fuyuka threw a quick Stellar Snare, causing her to turn around to deflect it long enough for the samurai to dodge.
From the sky, a charged gray cloud descended upon another crowd of samurai, who were electrocuted harshly. Seriously, they should take off the iron armor.
"Come on, retreat!" Kankuro shouted over the conflict. As everyone ran, however, Fuyuka lingered. "This lady is related to my family or something, I'll catch up."
The puppeteer hesitated but relented. "Naku, Yozora, stay with her."
The two nodded, the former ducking away from another staff strike while the latter hopped off his bird.
As another storm cloud congregated over them, Naku hit the next thunderbolt with a wind jutsu. It did help dispel part of it, but the unique nature of the jutsu meant it still managed to knock the brown haired chunin back a few metres.
Yozora whipped around, managing to counter a staff blow with a kunai. However, he flinched and dropped the weapon as electricity sparked through it.
Frankly, they'd probably have died already if Denra didn't keep pausing to pose dramatically and laugh manically as thunder hits the background for cool factor. Her favorite was definitely the Fatui pose.
"Wait! Answer my question, do I know you?!" Fuyuka interrupted, dashing narrowly away from a thunderbolt.
"Sorry, can't stop fighting!" Denra replied cheerfully, throwing Yozora into a tree with her staff. "If I don't fight for myself, I'll just be forced to keep fighting, but I'll look less cool."
Yeah, this lady was batshit crazy.
"Okay, okay, don't wait then. But do I know you or not?"
Fuyuka threw a Hexagonal Snare, which was blasted out of the sky with an unnecessarily strong thunderbolt.
"Nope! I'm your grandmother!"
"Maybe the insane genes skipped a generation and went to you," Naku remarked. Fuyuka made a mental note to focus on the fight now and punch him later, before turning back to Denra. "Wait up- elaborate."
"You'll have to beat me first, I can't chat while trying to murder you," the blue haired woman replied, twirling his staff to release a bolt of lightning. Yozora summoned Andromeda, blocking it at the last second.
Naku cast a wind jutsu, Stormwind Armament-type walls encasing the three. "Strategy. Quick."
"What about 'talk random bullshit and distract her'?" Fuyuka suggested smugly.
Naku's eye twitched. "Just because it worked on me doesn't mean it'll work on anyone. Worth a try, though."
"Okay, so how about this..." Yozora began.
The three schemed until a stormcloud began to congregate over the Stormwind Wall (oh, hey, it has a name). Naku quickly dispelled it, allowing the three to roll out of the way.
"Your left arm in your Fatui pose is 20 degrees too high!" Fuyuka shouted.
Naku shifted on his Stormwind Armament, attacking from behind the blue haired woman. A bolt of thunder struck him before he could so much as graze her long hair. "Really? I practiced for several years before I died. Maybe it's a problem with my Edo Tensei body?"
"Are you related to my mom or my dad?"
Yozora chose that moment to send three Ursa Major after Denra, who spun her staff to dispel all three. "You're kind of slow, aren't you? Why can both your parents use Shadow Star jutsu, why can Miyabi use such a chakra-exhausting healing technique all the time? The Seizaki are another branch of Tsuyoku descendants, like the Hoshino. We have two types of Yamyaku- a trace of red on top of blue. That's why both your parents were recruited, while usually one parent remains."
Denra threw a crackling stormcloud in Naku's face. The brown haired boy managed to avoid major damage by hitting it with Stormwind Armament, but it still couldn't fully dispel the force.
"That was surprisingly informative," Fuyuka admitted. "Did you know sharks and dolphins are both highly misunderstood animals for opposite reasons?"
"Can't say that's particularly relevant to the fight."
Well shit, this lady's good at staying on topic, even when said topic is 'killing your granddaughter and her teammates.'
Since she's using Tsuyoku jutsu (that's what Fuyuka's going to call it, better than cycling between Shadow Star jutsu and Yoruyaku jutsu), she must be close to Night Star. However, it should be impossible for Kabuto to get something like that. That means Denra must be casting jutsu with the Night Star on Fuyuka and Yozora.
"Yozora, you fly up high! Don't let her get close to Night Star!" Fuyuka shouted, grabbing her own pendant and chucking it over to the purple haired boy. Was it stupid to throw away, like, 50% of her powers? Maybe.
Yozora seemed to catch the hint, summoning Aquila and flying up several meters to stay out of range.
Like expected, Denra frowned. "That's not playing fair anymore."
Her special thunderbolts and clouds were gone now, but unfortunately the blue haired woman had no qualms against normal lightning jutsu.
"Wind Release: Gale Palm!" This time, by hitting Denra's staff with a wind jutsu, it managed to disrupt the electricity. While Denra turned to Fuyuka, she resumed her 'say random shit' plan.
"Did you know five weeks ago, Konoha hit its peak of price inflation? The average piece of sushi cost 294% of its price at the beginning of Konoha."
"That's sad, did the price come back down?" Denra was slowing down due to being attacked less.
Fuyuka jumped away from a staff spin, sparing a glance at Yozora and Naku moving into position, the former flying right above their target and the latter slowly moving out of her sight range. "Rumors say over half of the minors in Konoha have read at least one page Icha Icha at some point."
"I think that series was interesting, are there any new books recently?" A lightning jutsu flew towards Fuyuka, who lunged out of the way but flinched as her arm was grazed.
Ouch.
'Lightning is my least favorite now,' she silently said to herself, before facing Denra again. "I have collected copies of hats for every Kage except the Mizukage, I'm still working on that. I also kind of want an Akatsuki cloak except they all keep dying."
"That's nice and all, is this related to the fight? Or are kids these days just like this?"
From above, Yozora gave Fuyuka a thumbs up, his bird slowly lowering into Night Star range without Denra noticing.
The blue haired girl gave her opponent a sarcastic smile. "I have one more piece of trivia for you- Stellar Snare!"
